Hey Guys! So I've been lurking & reading other/older posts but feel like I should just ask myself: Recently purchased an 86 FZ600, got to ride it once then it died 3 times on the way home. Bought a multimeter - battery is good and its charging (when it runs). Removed and thoroughly cleaned the carbs. Fresh gas and fuel filter. Still nothing. Will not start, but the few times it did, its dies soon after. There's NO SPARK. My first guess is the ignition coils, but it seems like there's too many possibilities. Basically I don't have a lot of money to just throw around, I'd like to know how/where to test and narrow it down. Any he…

Hi all- Im new to this site so any help would be much appreciated. Could anyone tell or direct me as to how to fit the powervalve servo motor and all the gubbins that goes with it onto the tzr 125 (2rk model). Also does anybody know if the servo motor is the same as the one from a tzr 250? Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi Just want to float this around the workshop - sorry not a Yamaha - but the principles should be the same. I suspect leaking inlet valves as compression on 1 & 4 are lower than 2 & 3 on a compression test. The engine runs reasonably smoothly but their is a slight amount of 'blowback' particularly through no1 carb intake. I have checked valve and ignition timing and these are OK, so I am looking for a way of testing for leaking valves without: 1. doing a leak-down test - i don't have the tools 2. tearing the engine apart - will do if I have to, but will be gutted if after, this is not the problem!! any ideas???

Hi can any one help diagnose an electrical problem with my sons Yamaha Jog (50cc) scooter ? The main beam headlight works fine but when he dips the beam, the headlight and side lights completely turn off. As far as I can tell the bulb is OK and the handlebar switch is OK. Is there a fuse or relay on this circuit somewhere ? Any advice would be appreciated as the bike is due an MOT ! Thanks Graham

Hi All, Hopefully someone can help because this has been driving me nuts. I have a 1998 SR125 and ever since I bought it second hand a couple of months ago I've had intermittent problems where it won't start. I've bought a trickle charger and charged the battery both in and out of the bike. What seems to be happening is that the battery is not getting charged when I'm riding so eventually the battery just gets drained from using the lights and the ignition and then won't start and I have to charge the battery again. Any ideas?

Hi guys I'm new on here; just picked up a 2001 FZS600 Fazer for knocking around on and it's a great bike! Only area I'm not comfortable with is the headlight. On dip beam it's almost non-existent! Or feels that way at least. I was genuinely scared riding the first time in the dark... I'm sure htis has been asked before, but is this common and if so what's the standard fix please? Thanks Geoff

Another problem to test the 'grey cells' ........... The old faithful YB100 has been losing 2 stroke oil at a considerable rate when standing in the garage, the oil 'appears' to be coming from the rhs of the engine where the carb and oil pump are. There are no obvious leaks from any hoses or the 2 stroke oil tank - it just seems to 'weep' out via the carb. I am going to change the oil pump tomorrow to see if this makes a difference, but in the meantime anyone else got any ideas??

So I was just riding along but pulling away from some lights I thought, 'Funny, that's the second time that I have just pulled away in 2nd, when I thought I was in 1st'. At the next junction I made sure that the lever would not click down anymore, but once again I had to set off in 2nd. Then I could feel that I was not fluidly going up and down the gears, and I pulled over and strugglled to get it in neutral, and when eventually I did get it in neutral I could not get it out of neutral at all.......... the lever went up and down, springing back to its middle position, but no hint of a gear could be then ever be found at all, like the gears had vanished, and I ended up ha…

Hey there! I am new to this forum, so please forgive me if this has been covered before. I just finished replacing the front fork oil seals on my FJ 1100. All seemed fine during the disassembly and reassembly. Nothing out of the ordinary. After the shocks were put back together, I took the bike for a little ride. Any little hole in the road now bottoms out the forks. Any time the front brake is applied a little aggressively, the forks bottom out. Any ideas what I did to my forks?? It was not like this before I replaced the seals. The ride was quite decent before. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks, Dean

Hi, We have a recently restored TY250 ('78) that I am trying to register for road use too. It now has an MOT and I am struggling with some technical info to complete the DVLA forms, to hopefully get a sensible plate for it. Please can anyone help, if there was a workshop manual available for this bike then I am sure the info would be in it. We also have a similar age TY80, Haynes do a manual for it, does anyone know of anything similar for the TY250? Yours hopefully, Grant & Oliver.

I recently bought a 1986 FZ750, and am new to the forum, so Hello to all! When I got the bike, it had no fuel pump, and was gravity fed. I found this very annoying, as if the gas tank isn't kept topped up it can cause it to sputter, stall, etc.. To fix this I purchased a used fuel pump from a wrecked FZ750 of the same year. The problem now is that I don't have all the info I need to mount the enw pump properly. I have the Clymer manual for the bike, but it's woefully inadequate for the fuel pump install. Has anyone done this before or have the knowledge I need to get this done? I need to know what size bolts to buy to mount the pump, as well as if they need washers, or…

Hi, First a bit of background - I've got a 2001 Fazer 600 which has been running well until recently. It was out in a torrential downpour and the rain shorted the alarm which drained the battery. I've since disconnected the alarm and it's been ok but the battery took some permanent damage. The bike had sat there for a few weeks and I tried to start it last week and the battery was flat. I jump started it from a car but then after sitting outside work all day it needed jumping to get it started again. Guessing it was the battery I replaced it this weekend. The new battery is now fully charged but it still won't start the bike. I can hear a rapid clicking coming fr…
