Other than convenience of electric start, what are the pros and cons of the kick start ?. Is it as efficient for quick starts if all systems are proper ?. Less parts ?. More cussing ?. etc. Thanks..

Hello all, I just found out that my 2007 R6 is an USA import and it was meant to ve a UK bike i was told. Anyways not that i'm that bothered. Only way i found out is, i ordered new clear indicator lenses and they were the wrong size, when i called up the company they assured me they were for a 2007 R6 unless i had the US version that came with bigger indicators. So my QUESTION is.... is there anymore differences in these bikes? or are all the parts the same? i want to buy a stubby exhaust from the UK i'm just scared there are some other differences. Thanks for your time.

Does anyone know if the 1978 XS650 Rear MC rebuild kit will work on a 77 XS400D? Yamaha part for the 77 XS400D is 1U4-W0042-50-00 78 XS650E is 1J3-W0042-50-00 Close but not quite an exact match.. The pics on the kit from Mikes XS look correct.. If I knew the bore size of the XS650 part it might help. Or maybe someone can help me figure out what is wrong with the one I have.. It holds fluid and isn't leaking.. It will pump fluid but will not pull in fresh fluid from the resouivor. I've stripped it down and cleaned all the passages.. when it's dissambled fluid will drain from the resivour into the cylinder bore. The bore looks good.. No pitting…

Hi everyone, I'm hoping to mine your collective brains for information on all things technical. I've got some experience of grease monkeying - a kitcar helped there - but bikes are a whole new ball game and frankly the amount of rust I've encountered already is pretty alarming! <HISTORY> This is my first bike, I've been riding it every day since I bought it in November (trade, from a dealer) - wind, rain, ice, snow - you name it, and now the nice weather's arrived (cough) it's decided to die. God bless Murphy and his immutable law Obviously then, I decided that since I have no idea what I'm doing I'd strip the thing to the floor and give it a full resto - …

Have a problem starting the RU started about a year ago and ive tried cleaning the carbs (5times) a new CDI changed te coils and still have a problem any body got any other ideas. It will start but you have to hold the throttle open 1/3 way to get it to fire then hold hte throttle until its warm. Once warm the throttle response is rubbish until about 4000rpm then not as snappy as it once was its done 45K but been serviced regularly, Any ideas welcome...please.

Hi all, I've just got me a lovely 1988 Genesis for a steal off eBay and just wanted to check the tyre pressures. Being a skin-flint I don't want to go out and buy a manual for now just for this so was wondering if any of you lovely people could let me know the tyre pressures recommended for the bike? Cheers in advance

i own a tzr 50 and it shows the speed in mph but i want it to show the speed in km/h. i know it can show km/h bucause when i turn the key the oil and temperature light turn on then off after a few seconds and the clock shows 188 with mph and km/h beside then it just turns the km/h off and stays with mph. i really want it in km/h because ireland uses km/h and i dont want any smart people saying 1mph=1.61km/h. thanks

Hey ppl, these forums have been a major help to me along my restoration project with my '88 FZ600. The Latest issue i have been having is with the Headlights. In previous posts i have told how i have gotten it running, idling, and it charges the system fine. When I first Got It to Run; everything seemed to work fine. When i turned the key to 'on', the headlights and the tail lights lit up like they were running lights, which i guess that they function as. After a few times of running it and a few days later, i turned the key on to be mildly concerned with the lights not coming on... i figured it was a fluke and i hit some switch i forgot about. Now it has been about…

Hello, I have a Yamaha DT125 but I am not sure whether it's an R version or an LC Mk3. It was sold to me as an 'R' and came with an owner's manual as such, but it doesn't have a servo operated power valve as I thought it should. It is a 1989 (G-reg) so from what I've read it could therefore be either an LC Mk3 or an R. Is there a definitive way to tell? What are the differences? Cheers for any help.

My recently bought bike has been sitting for at least 1 year. I cleaned the carbs a few days ago. I also added SAE 10w-40 (2Qts.) It ran a little rough the first few times. I started it today and now it runs great, idles great, throttle response is great... but the breather filter thing atop the right clutch cover bubbles out oil!!!! i did recently add oil, did i add too much? The oil drips down the side and burns into smoke on the exhaust pipe... has anyone ever have this problem? Is it something else? --P.S. when i rev it to above 6K-7K it literally globs out oil and burns into white smoke!!! What do i do?
