hi everyone ive got a 1990 DT50 that i want to get a bit more speed out of, i don't particularly want to start moddingthe engine as it is vintage and i would like to keep it fairly stock. (am already running an upgraded exhaust can though) what gearing would be better for more speed?, im not particularly heavy (about 10st) and dont mind sacrificing a bit of acceleration for a bit more top-end speed have attached a picture, not sure why, but i like the bike thanks and regards Steve

Evening all 1st ride out on my bike on my own today - was terrifyingly ace lol. Still gotta practice alot methinks Anyhoo - having a bit of trouble with the pedals. I have big calfs and big feet and was having difficulty getting on them properly (shift and brake). Have adjusted them which has helped a little but they could do with being about 2 inches wider. Are there any kits/adaptations etc that might help and if so where would i go for them? Thanking you in advance all you lovely people Chris

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum and I've got a question; As I put my front wheel back in the fork today I noticed there's a gap between the fork an the wheel. There's about 2cm of axle not covered by any covers or anything. Is this normal? To be more specific, on the brake disc side the wheel sits tight against the fork, but on the other side there is the before mentioned gap. Also the wheel seems to be a bit loose, if I brake the wheel turns to the left a bit. Can anyone help? posting a pic of your wr would be great too!

hi everyone. am beginning to consider a big bore kit for my Yamaha DT50MX (1990) but would like to know the facts before i do. i already have an aftermarket exhaust can (original expansion chamber though) and will be fitting a performance air filter soon. so far i can only find 60cc big bore kits but i was wanting to get at least 70cc or possibly 80cc (which i cant seem to find the kits for) so does anybody know a good UK supplier that does them?. and because of the extra power would i need a new crankshaft? (if so, where can i find them?) and also, to cope with the extra capacity im going to need to re-jet the carb which i can do no problem, but would…

Hi there! I have just bought a XVS 125 Dragstar and I am finding it difficult to get it into neutral. Other gears don't seem to be a problem. Can anyone tell me if this is a common problem? Any advice on how to remedy this would be appreciated!!!!!! Thanks

hi everyone. the rear right-hand indiactor on my 1990 DT50MX has broken off, does anybody know where i can get a decent replacement?. its a sorta egg-shaped aftermarket one but i cant find any markings on it other than on the lens; "FACOMSA 1099 V109 50R00.4012 50R00.4012" not sure if that means anything to anybody, but i'd rather replace it than bodge a repair jobby - Steve

Yamaha Virago 1982 starter noise on a 750 and a 920 I just bought these bikes. They sound like marbles in a tin can after the motor starts for at least 5 to 10 seconds. I have heard that this is a common problem from the day it came out of the showroom. Is there any correct and proper fix to make this starter release after the motor starts? Where would you get the parts? How do you fix it? Is it worth it? I would appreciate any assistance to this . Thanks, Mel

Hi, wondering if anyone knows or could point me in the right direction to trace the origin of an engine I have bought. It's an FZR750 engine bought to replace a restricted japanese import 1FM. The engine code for the new engine is 2TT and I'm having trouble trying to trace this type. Don't want to find out specific bike history or previous owners etc just the country of origin of the 2TT engine. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Jay

Virago Club Appearance problem on a 1982 Virago 750 I just bought the bike last week and I am noticing that the crank shaft covers center circles that look like chrome but they are foil type material that are cracking and peeling off. Also, there are 2 round cup unit covers again chrome like foil, that are doing the same. I am wondering, does anybody have this problem? How to fix or do something with this foil chrome? I would appreciate any assistance to this . Thanks, Mel

Rear Wheel spacing problem on a 1982 Virago 920 – I have noticed that the rear wheel is very close to the frame on the left side [shaft side] upper portion On my 1982 Virago, maybe an 1/8”. Looks like it could be trouble. It does not hit it. How could I space the wheel further away from the side frame at the top? I noticed on a 1982 Virago 750 the tire space was about a ¼” away from the top frame. How do we fix this problem? I would appreciate any assistance . Thanks, Mel

I have a 2005 R1 and need some help where to start looking/considering what the problem might be given the following: 1. Start the bike it runs quiet and smooth as expected. 2. After the bike has warmed up for about 5 minutes, an audible 'rotating' sound(sorry I do know how else to articulate it) is heard from where the gearbox is. I can hear it on the countershaft sprocket side and on the clutch cover side, i.e. both sides. 3. The longer the bike is run, the louder the 'rotating' sound is. To the point you can hear it with a helmet on. 4. Anyone know what this might be? Where to start looking? I took the countershaft sprocket cover off and everything is ok with …

Hi I have a XVS 125 and I'm having problems with the electrics, the other week it fried the battery which has now been replaced and the voltage output from the alternator to the batttery on tick over in put out just over 14v rising to 19 when reving up. this leads me to believe the rectifier to be shot. but due to the high price of the unit for this model of bike I'd be a bit miffed if I baught a new one and found that the regulator wasn't the problem. Is there anyway of checking the reg unit using a multi meter before I lash out for a new one.
