Got a problem, bike will start from cold no problem, runs off choke as it warms, revs no problem, then it cuts dead. It will not restart until its cooled down, my first thought was cdi but checked when it cut out and i still have a spark. I have checked the carbs and they seem nice and clean, checked valves for adjustment, coils check out ok. Just wondering about the spark as to me it looks weak, i generally look for a big fat blue spark but all i am getting is a very thin lined purple one, any gurus out there with an opinion please shout up with any thought on problem. Oh yeah its a 1985 GPZ600R (sneaked that one in) i know its not a yam but you gotta go where the…

Hi, I bought a shed of a DT50 (yes, off ebay...............) and have done lots to it, but it won't run right. It has had a rebore and piston, the 14mm carb was kaput so I got a brand new 16mm (yes, ebay again...............) Starting is great, tickover fantastic, it revs up a treat, but, when ridden, it won't go onto the main jet, you can bimble along on a part throttle all day long (hills are no good though) but open it up and she just dies, go back to part throttle and she picks up again. I've checked, and altered, the float height, it's running the correct 88 main jet, but just won't have it. Do any of you guys know what may be the cause ? Somethin…

Hello, I have just bought my first motorcycle. It's a 1976 RD400. It rides nice, but there are some problems that need to be worked out. When I put the ignition in the on postion, the tail light comes on. Then sometimes when I signal, the bliker will stay solid. If anyone knows about these problems, your help would be kindly appreciated. Thank you

I am trying to pick the brains of any legal eagles. I was caught speeding in the early hours of the morning I was the only vehicle on the road (a dual carraigeway) I spotted this car catching me up very fast and the slowed down about 200yards behind. After following for a while he put his flashing lights on and pulled he over. My question is, Can an un-marked police car pursue another vehicle at in excess of the speed limit without having flashing blue light on to warn other vehicles of his approach. Thanks Grandad

I am rebuilding an all-original running 1977 YZ80D for my daughter for a Christmas present. Wondering, when I check the Service Data Sheet on the Yamaha site, for fuel type used is says only "Premium." It's an old 77--- is it supposed to take LEADED gas, or is UNLEADED fine? And, I'm gathering I have to mix 2-cycle oil at a ratio of 20:1. I'd like to verify this and know whether I can use UNLEADED...thx in advance. r.

hi everyone, i started my bike up just now to check the charge going to the battery (which is probably a dud) and everything operates as it should, high/low beam, indicators e.t.c but my neutral and turn signal light on the clock dont seem to work. ive tried operating the signals and revving the engine to get a bit more current going to the lights but not even that works the indicators themselves work fine, so what could be causing the lights to not work? (despite the fact they were working a few days ago)

Hi folks, I have a 2002 YZF600, Here is my problem, my gauge lights on my display went out, the gauges work fine but they no longer light up. It started with just my temp gauge light going out, I kicked the bike up to about 100mph and the light came back on. I assumed it was a potential problem with the generator(or alternater whatever bikes have). A few weeks later and my tach gauge light goes out, I kicked it up to 100mph again with no results this time. Then my speedo light went out a few days later. What is going on here? I can't imagine it would be a fuse eh? I'm guessing its a problem with the charging because as of late my bike has been dying alot when…

My air filter is in a really bad state i think its about 15 years old, hence i need a new one. I'm thinking i could get a standard filter element or a K&N type filter to go straight onto the carb. Will i have to rejet if i get a K&N type filter? Also my airbox is cracked, i've manage to seal it back together but it could still be leaking. So the question is Which Air filter?? Standard or K&N type?? (

I Am in the process of restoring my bike it is the unrestricted type 10W not the 12A. It has a Micron Exhaust system and K & N type air filter fitted. Does anyone know what Jets I should fit on the carb So that I dont burn holes int the piston and over heat her as with the standard jets it is runnin too lean?

Hi. I'm new hear and I have a few questions. I ride a DT 80 from 1981. It's a grate bike but I have some technical problems, like no spark, something banging in the gearbox, and wen I didn't have problems with that when I shift in the fifth gear at gaining full speed the bike loses power and the rpm keeps falling. Does someone know what can be the problem because I am losing my mind right now?

After last months problem with my daughters TZR 50 I now have a new problem! The bike is bogging down at anything from 1000 to 3500 revs, once above this its OK. It starts up without the choke but dies after a few Min's and if you apply the choke it dies? I am guessing there is too much fuel getting in to the cylinder? (plug seems wet) I have tried to adjust the air screw but to no avail, i have cleaned the air filter. It has a standard exhaust, air filter and jets. On a different note I want to change the gearbox oil, but how much does it take, there is no level indicator?

Hi, Quick question, looking for advice. I have a 91 DTR125, with only 6000km on the clock. The temp guage has been reading high, I changed the transmission oil to find that it was very milky. I suspect that the problem lies either with the water pump gasket or cylinder head gasket - can anyone be more precise before I start the work? Thanks in advance
