Hi everybody, I have stripped my bike down and re-ground the valves. I have put it back together but I am having problems. Please bear with me while I try to explain to see if anyone can see anything obvious. Piston is at TDC as per Haynes manual. Timing mark set on the front of the crankcase LHS of engine. Both crankshafts have the timing mark at the top. I am rotating the engine anti-clockwise. All return to TDC after rotation. The problem that I am having is when, (I have put in a spark plug and rotate the engine), if I hold my hand over the inlet manifold I get suction on my hand for part of the turn then as the piston starts to come back up it blows out of …

Hi all, I've recently refitted an engine and since I connected the clutch cable back up I've had problems in getting the clutch lever to 'spring' back - there doesn't appear to be enough tension - I've tried tightening both the handlebar lever adjuster and the adjuster nearer the engine but with no joy - any suggestions?

I got a few like freckles sort of thing on the fairing at the front by the head-lamp, it looks like somethings been flicked up the front of the bike like paint or something but it isn't that. I was thinking about getting one of those touch up pens you can buy from halfords etc for cars. I was wondering if that is a wise thing to do or.........? Seeing as its fairing and not metal i.e car bodywork etc. any suggestions before I make a mess? lol

Hi, I'm in the process of doing up a CG125 to trade for a late 80's/early 90's TZR125. Are there any common problems with these bikes that I should be aware of? It's standard as far as I know. This is what I want mine to look like one day

Hi guys, Anyone got any ideas on this problem please. Going into work last night after about 5 miles of my 6 mile journey i noticed that when stopped the tick over was very rough, sounded like it was only firing on two plugs. Blip of the throttle and all ok, then when it slowed back to tick over back to the sound of two plugs. Half a tank of fuel so rule out near empty fuel. Also noticed this morning no indicators for turn left or right, but, they come on when the alarm arms and when you put the hazzards warning on. so any ideas of whats going would be appreciated. The bike in question is new from October last year and done about 2500 miles now. Its…

i live in the desert, it regualry gets over 100 deg farenheit. I ride a 74 dt175. what happens if i overheat? how will i know if it does? what will happen if i do? does it cause permanent damage? also, i was thinking of using manifold tape on the exhaust from the engine to the expansion chamber. good idea or bad? i was going to do this to help keep my right leg a bit cooler. not concerned about hp gain, although it would be nice.

Hi All, MoT is due at the end of March. Advice from the last one (before I owned the bike) states that the fork seals were replaced, but won't last long because the forks are pitted. I assume that means the chrome is no longer smooth, allowing the oil to seep out of the seal (there's a slight seep now). What can I do to fix this problem in the long term? I'm guessing: 1. replace the fork(s) or 2. get the forks re-chromed Any advice welcome, particularly on approximate costs for re-chroming (if this is the answer). Bike is a 1986 Radian (US import) and I'm in the UK.

help rectifier needed for xvs 125\250. The part number is sh678-11. I've got the egg run on the horizon and the damb thing has died. One of the connector spades has sheered off right down to the base so I cant even get a bit of solder on it to get me through the run. If anyone can help I'd be most obluiged obliged obblijed? any way I'd be made up. Many thanks in anticipation. OGRi Just been hunting around on ebay. There's a SH650D-11 regulator rectifier pattern part there obviously for the 650 version, but does anyone know if it would be ok for the my little 125 draggy. It has the same number of pins and the voltage is the same. Any ideas?

Hi there. I own a 06' XT125R and recently had an accident. It dropped on it's left side (Gear changer's side) and since then the gears have not worked properly. I need to get in there and have a look at the damage but I realised that in order for you to get into the gearbox you need to remove the starter motor also. Can anyone tell me how i would remove the starter motor? many thanks, Aj

Hello everyone I just got a XS400 Seca for my first bike. I have been wrenching on the bike under the guidance of the Haynes manual and the original Yamaha Shop Manual. But I have run into a problem with clutch I cannot solve. It seems no matter how tight I adjust the clutch cable the Clutch does not seem to be disengaging from the drive train. I tried setting the slack to the prescribed 2 to 5 mm will little to no effect. I have also tried setting to the as tight as I could twist the screw/locknut combination but each time I squeeze the clutch lever and try to shift down to first the bike stalls. Excactly the way it would if I had not even touched the clutch lever. …

Hi. Does anyone happen to know where I can source a steering stem nut, for a 2000 (5EB) R6 that is cupped for fitting my Harris steering damper? I have stripped the threads on the nut whilst tightening it. I have had to take the steering damper off and use my OE steering stem nut. I have no idea who to go to, to get one for use with the damper. Many thanks in advance for your time and trouble. Neil
