hello again, I have managed to strip down the head, i have crank conrod and piston in full view, as i bought the bike as a not runner i need to some how find out if the big ends are gone? What are the tell tale signs? Regards james

Can any one tell me if they no of a place i can buy a straight pipe adapter for my FZ600 . i was told there is a pipe that you can use to take the cat out and get a little more power, not sure where ot get this or if i would have to take the system apart and travel round till i can get one fabricated. any help with this would be great many thanks Darren

Hi folks, I'm in a particularly nasty patch with my routine maintenance schedule... This time I've really blown it. PLease advise. Here's the sit-rep. Earlier this week I was having trouble shifting gears in my SR125. I figured that either the clutch cable needed adjusting 'down below' or, the gear chamber itself needed lubricating. Unwisely I put it off. Lesson no.1 learnt already. Anyway, after getting up a small hill I thought I had shifted up gears and gave it some, but I was in first by mistake and literally blew the engine. So now she won't run at all. Hi all in the Yamaha Club! Fortunately I was led here, but unfortunately due to my bike not running. I'm hoping someone here can give me some insight into where to look/what to do next. The bike is 1991 Yamaha XT600EB single cylinder 4-stroke with TCI ignition. My apologies if this is long-winded but I want to spell out the problem and what I've tested so far... What happened: bike was sitting over the winter, started it only a few times, the battery drained, 5 days ago I started getting it ready for warmer weather, charged it and put it back in, bike started and ran fine, 2nd night it started and ran fine, 3rd day it ran for 2-3 minutes, was idling fine and just quit, w…

I removed the headers off my 1986 FJ1200. I wire brushed them the best I can to remove the rust. Is there anything I can wash them down with to get them ready for paint like carb clean or paint thinner? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

hi i recently aquierd a 50cc for my son I've ridden it a few times rear suspension seems very hard dose the same rule apply to the sag and as off road bikes i no the tiers are very slim but it tramlines ie( follows every couture in the road ) tarmac joins and white lines it really moves spooks you a little so any ideas after the rear sus ???

Hi all, I recently bought an xt 600, and found that the lhs engine casing is either from the wrong model or is missing a part of a cover. The hole is shown here, in between the two wires, left of the barrel. it's the side you can see from the picture, and it was open, but had a plastic bung there. I presume there is meant to be some sort of seal there? Cheers Pyro

Having recently passed my test on my trusty 125, I am keen to keep it to get more experience before looking at something bigger, however i was just wondering if it's possible to fit a slightly bigger rear wheel to it- it's rather skinny at 90mm

When I try to start the bike, I have the choke on, it keeps starting for 2 to 3 seconds then stalls. This happens countless times, each time it seems like it will keep running. Eventually I keep doing this and continue to turn the choke off as the seconds increase or the idle seems higher. Touching the throttle at all will stall the bike. Then eventually it will run, and shortly after that the throttle can be used. The carbs were recently rebuilt and the manual says there is no fuel pump. What steps should I take to resolve this? Thanks for any suggestions.

i have a yamaha yzf600r but its frame have be modified for racing and the pre owners has chopped the bk off, i was just wonderin if it is possible to make a new fame section for the bk and weld it on and would it pass the MOT any advice or fourm links would be great thankss alot danny

Hi there. I just got my bike back from the garage and I now have a weird sensation when I brake with my back brake. If Im on a hill I can hold the back brake hard and move the bike a good inch or so. I have a look down while doing this and it seems as though the inner part of the drum brake has about an inch worth of play now? Any ideas on what I can do to resolve this as its very dangerous! Hi There I have been rebuilding a 1982 yamaha xj 650 it for the last year, the bike wasn't sold with indicators, but still.....I bought some and fitted them they should be on the bike, after a few crossed wires all indicators started working and got all lights etc working, but came to test today, first the left hand side stopped working, then the right failed, and also the horn has stopped too. I have tried testing the bulbs they are fine, tested the fuses with a volt meter they seem ok, I have done a reading earth frame to starter flasher relay with no reading, I am speculating that it's the flasher relay, could anyone shed any more light on this problem?. Hi Building another bike, looking at swing arm and tyre options for my xj600n, anyone know of any swingarms that will fit straight on and what tyre sizes available. Will an FZR600R / FZR400 SP / FZR600 or anyother back end fit? Help needed

Has anyone checked there 2007 muffler for a hole deep inside of the muffler tube. It may take a flashlight to see it. I noticed after the first 600 mile break in period My exhaust was a little louder then normal. For most of you riders your are think great, u can save a few dollars on aftermarket exhaust and not buy any. It appears to me that it was actually blown out from the inside coming from the tail pipe. Of course yamaha dealer sent to Yamaha some pictures, they said it looks like a drill bit hole and will not replace it at my there warranties expense. Bike was purchached last may in 2007, other then this issue I have none with the bike. Took a long trip out …

Im having problems with my bike and need a little advice. 1. sometimes when in neutral the gear shift won't go into first unless i roll the bike forwards. 2. sometimes when i take off and then change to second it goes into neutral (even with a good flick of my foot) 3. when i try to start the bike (with neutral light on)it won't, unless i turn the back wheel a little Does anyone know what the problem may be and what to do to fix it, cheers
