Hi im new to this and i am at my wits end so any help would be greatly appreciated. My boyfriend has a FZR 1000 Exup 89 that wont spark, he has checked plugs, coils, wiring loom and we are down to are last two options the igniter box or the pick up coil/cam shaft sensor (we have come across several names for this part). We have managed to get a second hand igniter box but so far have not managed to get a second hand pick up coil. Can anyone offer any advice on this, weather we are looking in the right place for the problem or not, How to fix the problem or where we could find a second hand pick up????? We have tried e bay for this and have had no luck it seems that…

Hi I have just taken delivery of a new XT660, great bike and I am loving the rides but I cannot figure out how to change the digital dash from km / kph to miles / mph. There are two buttons 'select' and 'reset' and I have tried pressing them independently and together. with and without the engine started and for various times. No luck so far. Can anyone advise me how to make this change? Thanks in advance. Paul

Hello folks, I am doing up a wee 175 at the moment and need to take the swingarm off to clean up and paint or powdercoat. I have looked at the haynes manual but it is of limited help as the book is removing a swingarm on a different model. I`d rather have a go myself but if its a hell of a job I may put it in the garage over the road from me(would rather not as I say) Has anyone ever done this before? any tips/guidance greatfully received... Thanks everyone

I got my carbs back from rebuild for my 1986 FJ1200 and got the bike running. I rode it around a parking lot next to my house, but noticed if you turn either direction hard enough, the levers hit the front fairing. Is this normal on an FJ? It seems to me like this could cause a very dangerous situation. Any comments would be appreciated.

I just bought a 1986 FJ1200. The bike had sat for a long time, so I had the carbs rebuilt and installed them on the bike. I didn't put the air filters on yet, I just wanted to see if it would run. The bike would run with the choke on full, however, it would stall if I tried to close the choke or turn the throttle. I am going to install the filters now, is there anything else I should do while I have the tank off, or should I just install the filters and then see how that affects the choke and throttle? The bike has the K&N single filters. Thanks for any replies.

Had my t/cat (black/silver/gold) for nearly 4 years and finally I've joined the Yamaha Club! The bike has been brilliant, but the poor beast has a hole in the exhaust (something that afflicts many t/cats it seems), and I'm not in the mood for chasing holes around with welding it. So I'm looking at splashing some cash and treating the bike to new downpipes. I'm guessing that a good number of thundercat owners on here have at some point suffered from the exhaust rot, so does anyone have any recommendations or warnings about brands of stainless pipes? I'm looking at Predator as a starting point. Also, while I'm here, rear shock? Hagon? Many thanks, and hope ev…

Hi guys . . . recently had a few problems with my back brake, after riding the other day, i got home and there was brake fluid splattered everywhere, allover my back tyre, swinging arm, and up the shock protector. i checked the brake lines were all nipped up and dry and they were fine, even bought a caliper service kit and rebuilt the caliper. I was talking to a mate at my local Yam dealer and he says that there's a fair chance that the seam on the inside of the caliper could have given way and that's where it could be leaking from. so now i'm on the market for a full rear brake caliper. Does anyone have one laying about as a spare or will it be a breaker/dealer…

Rite, I'm new to the forum as I have just got my first bike. A Yamaha sr125. This morning on the way to work I filled up with petrol. As I left the petrol station, I travelled about 100m down the road and the engine started to stutter and it then conked out. There were no electrics working with the ignition on. So I decided to walk it home which was about 1/2 a mile away but uphill lol. Anyway if the bike went over a bump the electrics would work again. So I tried to start it up again and it did start up absoultly fine. Put it into first and pulled away and it kind of went for about a metre and then did the same as before and the electrics went again. So has anyone …

Hi everybody, I am experiencing the joys of things going wrong while fixing up my 1989 yb100. I decided to replace the gaskets, as i need to take apart the engine anyway and the bike hasn't run in about 10 years. I bought a new full gasket set for the yamaha yb100 87-92, and went to fit the carburettor cover gasket , but the one i've bought doesn't even vaguely fit the same shape!! Does anyone know if within those 5 years the shape of the engine changed? Or were there different engines? I double checked on ebay and one picture, similar to the set i bought, shows the exact same gaskets. However, on another ebay item (a lone carburettor cover gasket ) does fit the sam…
