Just returned to biking after more than a few years and got myself a FZS600 2003, very nice but I have an intermittent noise from the engine (approx every 20 miles or so). Noise is not mechanical and does not depend on engine speed, it only lasts for a few seconds and sounds a bit like a starter motor. Any ideas?

Hello! I'm having trouble getting my R6 started. She's only been stood for three weeks and was working fine last time i had her out and has never given me any trouble to get started in all the time i've owned her (admitedly only 4 or so months and 250 miles). The starter motor is engaging and turning but doesn't seem to be connected. I've spoken to the mechanic at the garage where i bought it and he gave me some advice, which i took. Put the bike in gear and rocked it back and forth with still no luck. Does anybody have any ideas on what i can do? Is it worth while bump starting (if that's possible with a bike) to see if that clears it, or can i get to this starter clu…

1992 FZR 600 - Genesis Pulsing rear brake. Disc has been checked and it’s not warped. With the bike off the ground, spinning the wheel with the pads in place is enough to notice them contacting just one spot. This is enough to cause the rear wheel to lock under braking. The bike has only done about 30k and this problem appeared suddenly. I have removed the disk, checked the 6 mounting points for the disk and they’re all clean, Cleaned all the threads with a tap. After cleaning all the bolts I have used Loctite (blue) on the bolts each time. Steps taken so far with the bike on a stand and the pads removed: . With a dial gauge on the disk there is a high spot/ run…

I am confused with what my manual says about changing fork seals. Is this considered a full rebuilt and is this difficult to do? Also, should I do both or just the one that is leaking? I read somewhere that there are two ways of going about changing them. "Either remove the fork leg down through the yokes and replace the seal from the top or undo the Allen bolt at the bottom of the slider and remove the sliders from the stanchions." What are the pros and cons of both of these? Any replies would be appreciated.

Hi there I am a new-ish member and I have an Sr125 which I got last August. Generally it's in really good nick, but I thought it was time to change the brake fluid. However, someone's been at the bleed nipple with something destructive and I can't crack it. It's almost completely smooth. Tried it with a spanner, a wrench, even pliers in the end but it simply won't budge. Does anyone have any suggestions or tricks which might help me to shift it, or an alternative method of changing the brake fluid which doesn't involve using the bleed nipple? Many thanks Heppy.

Hallo friends, I have finally obtained the new chrome ring and replacement clip for my headlamp. Well, here's a rub.... Canne seem to remember how to fit the cllip in place, like, adjusting these things is simple when you've got the manaul. Unfortunately the missus chucked out the aforementioned Haynes publication (unwittingly i assume) as it was buried in a stack of ahem skateboard magazines. And 2000AD's More about this clip: It's a single piece of springy 3-D 'U'-shaped wire Any help with this greatly appreciated, thanks.

I had to remove the cylinder cover on my 1986 FJ1200 because three off the bolts were leaking a little oil. Is there anything I should watch for when replacing the gasket and bolt gaskets? Also, is there anything I should check or have checked while I have the cover removed? Thanks for any replies.

First post! I am after some guidance or some sort of assisstance with my YBR 125! I have recently aquired a nice, loud, top end tapping noise when I start my bike, I have an idea what this is, but I was after some ideas as to whether it would be more sensible to fix the problem, or to replace the engine. It is a high mileage bike, i've done around 30K, and obviously I understand these bikes arent meant to do such high mileage in such a short space of time (its an '06). I am mechanically competent enough to fix anything that has gone wrong, but i dont know how expensive it will be to buy the replacement parts, or how much would actually need replacing. So …

Hi, I'm rebuilding the top end of my XT350 as the Clymer manual states and I'm at the stage where I've put back the camshafts, lined up the marks (T mark on rotor, camshaft end marks and caps) but when I try to turn over the engine to see all works fine the chain jumps off the sprockets thus losing the timing. It says this should be done before the chain tensioners are fitted but time and again the chain jumps the sprockets as the cam lobes come under valve spring tension. Should I just line up all the marks, then fit and adjust the tensioners and see if it's still all lining up after turning the engine over by hand - or what? Any comments and help greatly appreciated!…

After a close encounter witha VW sharran !! can anyone please tell me if the handlebars off a later FJ12 would fit my 86 FJ12? Some stupid individual didn't listen to their parking sensors and ploughed into my parked FJ12. The throttle is a bit stiff but useable, but i'd feel a lot happier if it worked smoothly, Would handlebars off a later model FJ ( 3cv etc ) fit and work on the 1TX that i have? Thanks.

Hi All, I recently replaced my speedo on my Radian YX600. I can't remember the rpm against the speedo on the old one, but the new one feels like it's over-reading - I can't put my finger on why. The other alternative is that the other one was under-reading. Anyway, at 6000 rpm in sixth gear, I'm doing an indicated 75 mph. Does that sound about right? I think the chain/sprockets are standard. On the other hand, it could just be me....
