1986 FJ1200. I just took the tank back off my bike to adjust carbs for a hard starting issue and noticed that the elbow that comes out of the petcock and the fuel line attaches to was kind of loose and shows signs of leaking. Is there supposed to be some kind of rubber washer to hold that in tight? I did notice that there is a groove cut in the elbow. Do I need to purchase a whole new petcock? I really want to stay away from removing the petcock if at all possible.

I've got an '83 XS400k Maxim with 7500 miles on, that I'm having some issues with. Since I got it around for spring, I'm having issues with the engine once it's warm. Now, I should explain that I did have the carbs apart, but only for a cleaning. I didn't remove any of the needles, but I did replace the float valve and seat, and put new bowl gaskets on. Got the bike back together, fired it up... seemed fine, was running strong. Took it out for a ride, and immediately had issues. Bike would run fine up to 4-5k RPM, and then start spitting and sputtering. If I backed off the throttle to just maintaining speed instead of trying to accelerate, it would clear out and mainta…

Hi guys, I have just had my CBR600F stolen, so returning to old faithful YBR125 at the moment. I desperately need to replace the brake pads. I have managed to get the caliper off, and have gotten the old pads out. This is where I am stuck.. I just cant seem to fit the new pads in. Does anyone know how I go about fitting them? All the videos and tutorials I have seen mention a pad pin to hold them in place.. I cant see one of those on the YBR at all?!! Thanks in advance! Andy

I need a new tank for an otherwise perfect '82 XJ750 Maxim. Does anyone know where I can find one? Black, Red, Lime Green; I don't care, it can always be painted! Even if it has dings I'll look at it. I love this bike but it's nothing more than a good-looking pile of iron taking up space in my garage if I can't find a tank. Thanks, Russell

Hi, My problem is that my 2000 r6 wont start all the time, when it does it dies on low revs, had the RAC out and he found a warn earth wire, he bolted it on and it started and ran on tick over perfectly. I went to ride it home and leant it upright and it cut out again and wouldnt start again. The loose wire may have been a red herring. I checked the side stand switch but no problem there has any one got any ideas?

Hi I have just bought a 2000 R6 with ART can on. Starts from cold without choke and runs rich at low revs when hot but picks up cleanly through the rest of the rev range. I have removed the carbs and checked choke operation which seems OK. No flooding of float chambers. changed plugs and air filter but I can't find any mention of the air screw settings in the service manual. Can anyone help with a standard setting to get me started. Thanks Fencewell

Hi all, do any other Thundercat owners bikes suffer from clutch lock? Mine is a standard 1998 model and when I try to set off, revving above 5000rpm slipping the clutch, it just makes a nasty noise and grabs/locks. It's not a problem really, just wanna cane it away from the lights occasionally So if anyone knows of a cost effective cure please let me know

Hi all, my new clutchpack should be here tomorrow. I noticed when working the clutch with the old clutch pack off the push rod was only shifting about 3mm when the clutch level is depressed fully with the adjustment scew set to the max depth I could set it and still get the lock nut on it. Does this sound right? does anyone know how much throw the clutch needs to move to correctly dis-engage> thanks Ned Williams

Hi , i have just bought my son his first field bike a dt 125, however the engine seems to have seized, the number on the engine casing states ita a 3bn y-1 with y-2 on the barrel.would anyone know which piston and rings would fit this or is it better to try and find a secondhand engine and if so do other engines fit straight in regardless of age or make? as you can imagine the poor ol' boy is gutted only had it a week. also looking for a mikuni rr-oo carburettor to suit as well or again will most ages of carbs fit, thanks in anticipation the bike i believe should be a 2001 but as a stolen recovered field bike i'm not sure.

I've ordered some fork oil seals for my YBR125ED, since mine started to weep. I cant seem to find the correct oil levels for each fork, or the ideal oil type. If anyone knows, I'd appreciate it! John

Hello, I bought my YBR125 last month and have been getting on great with it And while I haven't had occasion to find out yet, I'd still like to know where the heck the fuel tap is... there's no mention of it in the manual, but every other bike I've been on has one (in training etc). Any ideas??

My R6 has been sitting under cover for a little too long and the battery has died. Gone out and bought an Optimate and went home at lunch to fit it... Is it me or is there more to removing the tank than just unscrewing the forward allen bolt? I did have a fairly full tank in there so it might just be heavier than I'd expect...
