Hi, I have a FZ 600 (87 model) which after an amount of TLC took me to Germany and back (from UK) in about a 3000 mile round trip. One week later the old girl decided to blow up on me. Oil and petrol was poring out of the clutch breather tube. I dont know much but i know that just aint good! I have decide to attempt to infuse a new life into her via a engine transplant as the old one is definitely knackered! So far I have the new (ish) engine on the floor beneath and all wired up correctly. I am getting firing but it is very unpredictable and certainly no signs of smooth engine running yet. If anyone know of any hints and tricks to firing up an engine t…

I have recently bought a second hand original accessory Yamaha Top box & it is made by MBK. The base plate it requires looks like a Givi Mono Key plate but it will not fit on the Givi plate i have as the 2 "pins" that fix into the top box are too far apart. I have tried my local Yamaha dealer & sent a email to Yamaha but as yet have had no luck in finding a plate. I have searched the internet to try & find the company that made them MBK but can find nothing relating to top boxs. Can anyone throw any light on this??? Regards Steve

Hi to all. New to the site so please can you put up with me! Just got hold of a xv125 for the other half to learn on and keep me company when out on my Triumph, when she pass's the test will be looking at things like the Dragstar or Virago range of mid range size bikes as she is a bit short in the leg department! Anyway I have a couple of questions regarding the xv125. 1 Do you have to move the engine to change the Oil, been looking at it and cannot see how the drain plug will come out as it's very tight regarding space and clearance to the bottom frame tube? 2 Carb Icing, as the bike is an import, think a Japanese Home Market one is this something that happe…

Hi everyone, Apologies for my constant string of newbie questions but I have got my xs400 seca running, shifting and breaking now as desired. But I think I am down to the last two things I need to make the bike a safe machine( safe ride sounds like something that could spark argument) so question 1 Both the front and rear tire appear new, no dry rock cracks, plenty of tread. But they both have a slow leak. By slow I mean if I air them both up to 40 PSI, the will be down to 30 in 2 nights. The tires are Bridgestones a Battlax in front and a moto something or another in the rear. So I can know what to budget for how do I tell where the problem is? question 2: With …

Newbe with a 78 Yamaha 500 Thumper- I have been a 2-stroke guy and completed many restro projects. I have always wanted a TT500 4-stroker and was able to pick one up in very good condition but will not start. I feel it may be a timing and/or tune-up issue as the spark does not seem to be consistent. Got a couple sputters and small backfire and that is it so far. Any help on where I should start to get this bike running? Thanks for any help! Greg

HELP - I layed my bike down at slow speed, and now it won't start. Are there any type of shutdown devices on a 2002 yamaha r6 that may be causing this issue? If so where are they located? Any help with my problem would be great.

My 1995 diversion broke down with a blown main fuse . After a while and replacing the fuse the bike ran for about 10 miles before blowing the fuse again .The only way I could get it home was by unpluging the regulator and replacing the fuse . Since then the bike hasn't run , I have cleaned the multi plugs and connections , and put on a new regulator . Now when I press the starter switch the only thing I get is the oil pressure light comming on , no clicking or anything! .The starter turns when the solenoid is bridged . Would running it for 13 miles with the regulator unpluged have damaged anything else ? may be the relay . Thanks for any help jdh

Hey guys, over the past month or so I've noticed that my front brake doesn't really engage until the lever is almost all the way in. A guy I know who drives a Triumph Rocket III (just had to get that in there, what a beautiful piece of machinery) knows a thing or two, and told me to take the lever off. Beneath there, should be a hole kind of thing somewhere which will let me move the little brake thing left and right to adjust sensitivity. He showed me on his bike, it had a fancy controller with numbers to indicate the sensitivity. Anyway, I got home and took my brake lever off to find that there's no hole or any real way of adjusting the sensitivity..unless I'm missin…

Hey, Details about how this happened aren't really necassary but I have a nifty little pen holder now in the form of an 80cc piston . I had to replace the piston on my TZR50 with an 80cc bore kit (If that makes any difference), now the rest of the engine is run in, but the piston is brand new, how would you say is the best way to run in the new piston? I've heard high gears and full throttle for 30 second bursts over a 5 mile stretch and also 300 miles at 5k revs (half the redline).(Which is also 30mph, which I don't feel completely confident doing in 60-70mph zones) Thanks

I was plodding along the m25 at 60mph and I had to go onto reserve but as I went to do this my engine made a weird clunk noise and cut out. I had to pull onto the hard shoulder where it started first touch of the button but has now started a rattle from the engine which rattles faster the more you rev. Does anyone have an idea what it could be as it felt pricey

I have just bought a 1989 yb100 and when riding if i give it more throttle up a slight hill it wont go and feels like its dying so i had a word with local yammy dealer who revved it up and said it looked like baffles were blocked. So i removed them and they looked ok so i burned them off and re-fitted. I also checked oil pump setting and that was correct. So i then took it out again and the problem is still there. But when it feels like its dying if i drop the clutch it revs its pants of so i dont think its a blocked baffle. Also if i drop down the gears and then thrash it it seems to go again. Could it be fuel starvation or a breakdown on the ignition side (new spark plu…

Just got the bike back from the garage, i've done 12 miles at 30mph and sat it in the garage, i went to clock up some more mileage earlier to find that there's a leak coming from the head of my engine where a plug of some sort comes out and also the mixture is way too high. This can't be usual for a new piston can it? I'm going to send it back first thing monday morning as i have home start, but some feedback now on whether this is usual behaviour of a new piston, IE mixture running so rich that anyone withing 10 metres of the idea bike is at serious risk of carbon monoxide poisoning and the fact that there's a bluey green liquid coming from the head out of a plug? …
