The engine oil in this old bike looks a bit gummy.! I don.t think it has been running for a few years (took me weeks to get it running again) What oil should I be putting in it and is there a flush I can get like you can with car engines or will one of those work just as well.? Cheers. Tom PS. I am a printer by trade and can produce repro decals for these old bikes. I have made quite a few for local bikers. Anyone want any.. get in touch [email protected]

Hey guys, newbie here on the old yammy forum. But a proper forumite on lots of others Anyways down to business. Just got an 05 fazer thou for a seriously good price. But it has a minor issue. Engine oils going all creamy so coolant getting in there somehow. Just wondering if there was any typical issues with the r1 engine such as the oil cooler etc. I know that it leaks coolant when its knackered but I read somewhere about if the drain hole is blocked by some retard trying to stop the leak then it pressurises the oil cooler seal and pisses into the gearbox. Im not too worried as even if its the head gasket its easy enough. But dont want to do the head if …

Hi I own a 2007 R6 and have had it nearly a year now, i have a yoshimura tri oval slip on carbon fibre end can and i am now looking at abolishing the cat, i have been offered a set of stainless steel down pipes complete with mid section (link pipe) to replace the ugly mess underneath. It's going to cost me £275 for this but before i go ahead with it can anyone please outline any potential hazards that may lie ahead if i go with this. The new set up comes complete with a pre drilled hole for the lamba sensor to go in too, so just in case i'm overlooking anything can someone shine some light on this for me...... Thanks very much....

I'm working on an '87 FZ600, and I'm trying to figure out what exactly is the matter. I think it's either a short or the alternator, but I'm not sure- basically, it dies when it's running normally, and when I tried to fire it up a few times today it stopped working. The first time it started, I stalled it on accident, and couldn't start it again, and the battery read ~2V. I jumped it to a car battery, and it started up and would keep running until you disconnected it. At first, remove the jumper and it just died. If you waited a while before disconnecting the cable, it'd keep running for a bit and die. It's either the alt not charging the battery, or a short draini…

My 86 FJ1200 had an oil leak from the valve cover gasket. I replaced the gasket. Everytime I run the bike, it smokes like crazy. Is there an easy way to get the oil from the top of the motor?

Also added gas and tried to kick start it but it won't budge, then i tried the electric start and it won't start either. So what can be the problem? Thanks in advance, Dara

Anyone help please, just bought a 2002 FZS 600, absolutely mint condition, but it runs un-evenly/lumpy at tickover, at 3000 rpm it clears and runs perfectly, my guess is that it has been left standing/unused for a long period of time without being used by previous owner, and that the fuel has dried out in carbs and blocked one or more of the pilot jets, if this is the case whats the best way to clear it/fix, how easy or difficult are the carbs to get off? Have put some redex in the fuel and will give it a good run to try first I guess, any help much appreciated, thanx Dodgy Dave Bristol.

Hi All, been busy rebuilding a 1983 TR1 V Twin. Everything is now ready to go except for the wheels. A germa website states that you can fit SR500 wheels but these are rare so does anybody out here know of any other options? Many thanks Gary

Hi, I have just recently picked up a basket case 1985 FZ 400r and need some info on the CDI. The one that came with the bike (in a box) has the serial TID14-33 this has been cracked open and the internal electronics are covered in a rusty substance, a quick search on the net brings up one for sale for £40 but says it's been taken from a FZ600 ? Is the TID14-33 the correct one for this bike ? The reg/rec has the serial 12r-A0 SH233 which seems to be common so I should be able to pick one up easy enough also the starter solinoid serial number 714992. Thanks for any help Steve

I have an '85 FZ 750 and '87/'88 FZ 1000 wheels and fork and want to put the 1000 parts on the 750. I tried the rr wheel yesterday and there is not enough room to fit the caliper carrier bracket on the 750 swingarm. The 1000 swingarm is an inch wider but I don't have the 1000 shock. I have seen this swap done numerous times. Anyone have the ditty on how to accomplish this? Thanks, Kevin
