Hi there, would be grateful if anyone can help me with the following:- 1) Any restrictions that can be removed from the bike, I can do about 90 - 95kph...which sounds a little slow compared to other 125's. I have an aftermarket can attached with the stock pipe (inc the catalytic converter). 2) A headlight conversion, any websites or info on that. The stock headlight is just horrible...even with a halogen bulb. 3) Kind of related to Q1, any modifications that can be done to the air filter, say anything that is made by K&N or another make. 4) Graphics sets...anything that suits the bike. I have the red & black coloured model. 5) An…

  3. my idle on my 99 r6 wont sit still. it will go from 0.2k revs - 2.5k revs. it happens with no apparent pattern. and under heavy braking whilst ridding it tends to stall as i slow to a stop. attempting to adjust the idle results in it going from 0.2k straight to 2.5k revs. one thing that could have affected it was the fact that i put a race can on and used it for about 150 miles of hard ridding. but my low down power was affected so i changed back to the standard exhaust. now i get this issue which has not occurred before. i used to have the idle set at 1-1.5k revs with no issues before hand. now the other issue, which is most likely linked, is the bluey-grey smoke a…

Hi, I need some help. My XJ cut out in the middle of a hairpin (slow, luckily) and I went down. No major damage aonly broken levers. It re-started immediately and ran fine for 15 mins. then cut out again. This kept on happening all the way back home sometimes every couple of minutes. When I got home I started checking the wiring and found the wires from the sidestand cut-out had been caught under a cover near the starter motor and had shorted out and burnt the insulation. I had the sprockets and chain replaced the week before so I assume it was a rough job done by the shop mechanic when replacing the covers and clutch master cylinder. I replaced the faulty wiring a…

I have been working on a 1980 xs400 for a little while now and it recently developed a new problem. The kickstart used to fire up the bike on the first kick almost every time, even when it was very cold. Suddenly, it stopped working. The bike will start with the electric start, but it is finicky when cold, so i like to kick it. The kickstart DOESN'T work when the bike is cold. There is little or no resistance and the bike doesn't turn over. When warm, the kickstart DOES work, perfectly. I am confused.

  12. I had an issue getting my FJ1200 to start. After checking how much fuel was coming out of tank, and not getting much, I took the petcock apart and it was stuck closed. Now I have to buy another one, but the local dealer cannot get me one. In the meantime, I put it back together just to get the bike running. After warming the bike up for a while, the idle started to get kinda high. After about ten minutes, the motor sounded different, (I cant explain) and the idle started to drop, then the bike stalled. The fuel light was on, but there seemed to be plenty of fuel in the tank. The bike did start right back up but I did not want to run it long in case there was something se…

Hi everyone, I got my seca running, got the clutch sorted out. and took it up and down the street for the first time tongiht. One thing I noticed was the rear break pedal travels what seems like 3/4 of a foot MUCH worse than the bike I had in the mSF class. What is the correct adjust ment here is it adjusting the screw at the end of the rod that connect the pedal to the drum or do I shift the arm actually connected to the drum that the above mentioned rod connects through? all help is greatly appreciated thanks Ned

Can anyone help? I have a FZS 600 Fazer and the problem is that the rear brake pedal depresses very easy but seems to be little or no pressure. The brake works but only after max pressure with the foot. If I leave a weight on the pedal and put a bag over the reservoir (with lid off) will this work? Your expectingly Big Tom

  15. Hi all I have a 1991 DTR 125 and when I start the bike up first time it ticks over at usually 1,500rpm but after i've opened up the throttle it sticks at 6,000rpm. To accompany this the temp guage is going into the red after 10 mins of riding plus the water filler at the back of the bike keeps running out. Am i right in thinking that there is a leak somewhere, perhaps cylinder head gasket is blown, which is spitting out the water causing it to overheat and the high revs are due to the air leak also? Any thougths would be greatly appreciated!

Hey guys. Wondering if someone can help. I'm after someone with an FZ400 preferably 1985 or around. The problem is i need to know where the wires from the pickup coils (left hand side of the engine) go. I have 2 blacks (one from each pickup) and an orange and a grey. The engine turns over and is getting a good spark from all plugs but won't fire up. The carbs have been removed and petrol squirted into all cylinders. I bought this bike with the wiring loom trashed. Maybe i have not put it back right. The ignitor wires are all loose and do not have the blocks on. So i am unsure which order these go in. If it is possible could anyone send any photo's of these terminals to ve…

Just got my hands on an 1982 400 SECA, and the bike will not start without help from starting fluid. Carbs have been cleaned, new plugs, wires, and replaced coils. Engine has compression, and there is gas making it to the combustion chamber. Ive found that the right plug fires many times as the engine is cranked, but the left plug fires once, if at all, with multiple strokes. The bolts holding on the crank cover on the left side are starting to strip, why didnt yamaha use regular bolts, so right now i havent been able to check the pickup coil. Has anyone else come across this problem? Its down to the ignitor box and the pickup and im looking for some guidance before I sta…

Hi there i originally posted this in the custom section but i guess it should go here anyways I hope that one of the knowledgeable members can help me out. I keep losing power on my xvs 125 dragstar it feels as if the fuel is cutting out, i have had the carbs cleaned to no avail. It starts fine even when left for a while but when you give it some throttle it dies unless you back off and then really coax the power on slowly. This happens about 80 % of the time i can ride for 10 miles before it happens or i might get lucky and it doesn't happen at all.. Its driving me mad cause no one seems to have a clue so i would be really grateful if someone can shed some light on …
