  1. Last week i Jet washed Yamaha Fazer 1999 model. Right after that oil and petrol warning light come up which prevent me to start Fazer bike, unless i push the bike - have no problem then. i belive, i have electrical problem. anny suggestion?

    Hi can anyone help dose a anyone know how to tell the model and year from a vin number. as i have a off road yamaha and was told it is a 1999 DTR 125. Now i need a new head bore and piston i need to know if it is a 99 and also if it is a DTR. Please help if you can THANK YOU Clint

New to this forum but I suspect there will be a few familiars on here, I've come over from the xtz750 site to see if someone might be able to shed some light on what I think are reg / rec issues. So, where to start?!! Put a new reg / rec (RR) on the bike about a year ago but have always had issues. Had a new stator and battery fitted too. The bike would never hold its charge and even whilst riding - would not put enough in to keep the light going in the dark all the way home. However, the other day I went to start it and it blew the fuse instantly. Tried again with a new fuse and the same happened. Did a test at the battery and I seem…

    Hi there, I've recently bought a 1994 Yamaha SR250, and I'm just looking for a few simple ways to squeeze a couple more HP out of the engine to make it a little bit more suitable for short bursts on the motorway and dual carriageways and the like. I've heard there are fuel additives than clean the carb nozzles, which are the best of these? Also are there any engine mods that could be done? Nothing too complex, I have a sound knowledge of working with engines & mechanics but not advanced. Thanks!

    My old xj550 1982 Maxm has a problem.It wont select nutral .I can get it in when moving but not when its stationary.Any sugestions. Thanks. Tony

    Hello everyone. My seca will not fire. I took the headlight out and noticed the previous owner had shorted the kill switch hot off the brown wire coming off the Key-Switch. I broke the short and the kill switch works, but the bike wont fire, I put the short back and the bike still will not fire. I replaced the battery made sure its fully charged, and still no fire I put a voltage meter on the rectifier, and the CDI box, both have 12.7 or so volts in but no spark is coming out of the spark plug wires. Not sure what to check next, I havn't checked the coils yet as I still havn't go the tank off. Is there something simple? I have checked every wire, every connecti…

    Hi all I'm in the process of re-sprayign my panels, I wet sanded them first with 400 grit then used a flexible plastic primer, about 4 coats then started with th gloss black paint, after 5 layers it still doesn't look glossy and looks bitty...How do I get it to look like glass? Have I done soemthing wrong?

    Ok so im building at 1986 dt and the parts i got with the project are supposedly all there, ive got 3 plastics that resemble rear mudguards, one of which might be a connecting piece. I dont want to respray them all and then find out but i might have to as i cant find out anywhere which one is the correct one! The haynes manual, helpfully, shows no images of any plastics other than the headlight surround ( which i dont need for offroad ) and then a side shot of the DT LC near the front of the book, this isnt any help as mines the mk3 and might be different to the one pictured......YIKES.......ive tried putting them all onto the frame at the rear to see if any of the h…

    Hi guys i was on my tzr and out in the rain and i drove home, changed the jets in my carb my mom bought me, ran it up and down the drive and let it idle in the garage for about 20 seconds and it cut out as if a wire was bridged. My killswitch has already been bypassed and its not my stand switch. There is only 0.06 volts going to the coil and normal voltage (9.6/10/11v) i think going to the live wire on the cdi unit. There is no visible spark at all and holding the spark plug and turning it over does not shock me at all. Has anybody else had this problem before or does anybody have any ideas or a way of testing the cdi unit? Many thanks, Alex

Hello all just a quick one for ya all to ponder on Right as you can see in the photo below between the air box and the Injector Manifold there is a black ruber tube of 25mm in width that has the end plugged. When you take it out it dose not make any difference to the top end but getting from 0-60 is a little faster. I have questions 1, What is this tube for 2, Why is it capped off 3, Is there some small air filter or something for end

    Guy's, Newbie on this forum so hello all. I recently purchased this bike and it has ben stood up for a few years, so I'm in the process of orting the few niggaly things to be able to use her in the sun before really making her beutiful again. The ignition barrel is very very worn, so finding a NOS one with two keys on Ebay for a few quid was a bonus. Now it's here and off out to the garage I went to fit this wonderful new piece of yamaha goods only to be completly baffled as to how to remove the old one from the top yoke!!!!!!!!! CAN ANYBODY HELP AND TELL ME HOW?????????? Cheers in advance. Matt

    i have 2000 plate r1 with 11000 miles on the clock.the problem i have is i have a whinning noise coming from the left hand side of the bike.. if i accelerate and the faster i get the noise gets louder and its still there if i decluch it and free run it.. i have changed the chain and sprockets as i was told it could be them.. if some one can help plz do as the good weather is coming and this noise is doing my nut in

    Hi guys I put this in the wrong section last time. I have a 2001 model R1 that wants to go in to neutral between each gear, its not as bad when I am really getting up it but you cant always do that around town. I think it started doing around its last oil change. I used Motul 20W50, does anyone know if this oil would cause it if so what oil should I use. Thanks Richmun

    were the carburetor joints (intake Boots) of the FZR-400 ('88-'89ish) metal? I saw a video on youtube of a guy polishing what he claimed to be the carb holders for a fzr-400! Another Question I Have is if the carb holders are compatible with a first generation fz600? I also read on a summary of the fz-600 that it was basically a bored out fzr-400 motor, if thats true, then there should be a lot in common. But given that if they are metal; there wont be much room for error as like the cracked rubber ones that i have that are very forgiving to bending, and squishing.

    Hi all, I hope you can help. I finally fixed the oil leek problem with my xj600 (is anyone else has the problem, the way I fixed it is on the bar forum) I went for a ride yesterday, everything was fine, but my top speed was 70mph in wind, almost 80 on flat no wind. Should I expect this top speed from a 1998 xj600 n which hasn't been too well looked after (till me!) If not, any suggestions as to what's wrong? Thanks for any help.

    Hi Everyone, I've just purchased my dream bike - the YZF750R on Friday 17th April, but now I am sat at work wondering if the bike is not what it seems!! I've bought something I know a lot about on paper, but in the flesh it all seems a little different. The test ride was spot on, nothing out of the ordinary there, however on the ride back home, as soon as I went above 80mph, there is noticable vibration in the handlebars, below that everything is smooth. Today when the bike was warm and running, I held the revs high and the same vibration appeared again, but I don't know if that's a normal trait for these type of bike. Do you think my wheels need re-balancing…
