Hi All Regarding the very 'popular' oil drip problem from the air box drain on XJ600 S/N, I noticed somone posted a response regarding an aftermarket kit to replace the large bore crankcase breather hose and doing away with the smaller cam-cover breather. Has anyone tried disconnecting the crankcase breather from the airbox altogether and attaching an after market filter?? Cheers in advance

hi guys. sorry to say i had to sell my r6 for spares after the engine blew up! so for a short while i will be owning a divvy. i bought it for less than i usually pay for my helmets!! but its in need of tlc. one major issue is the alternator cover has been replaced by a none yamaha cover and now its falling off. i cant seem to find an alternator cover anywhere as most people who are stripping bikes dont want to take it from the engine. does anyone know a specialist or a few other models that would fit exactly? thanks for your time people.

After picking my project bike on Saturday, 2 trips to Halfords and with a lot of help form some of you forum guys I was ready to kick the bike over. I bled the oil pump as suggested. At this time I noticed that the pipe from the pump to the carb was split so I cut the end off and refitted this. There still seems to be a pin hole in this so added to my very long list of things to do. I am not sure if I need to take the crankcase off or if the metal junction attached to the crankcase is just a pull off and I can refeed a new pipe from the top. Anyone know please? I fitted the fuel cable and was ready for liftoff. A splash of fuel in the tank and as I was putting …

OK I know I am asking a strange question - I have a $50 1982 maxim 650 that has not run in about 10 years, can be made to run again and a decent bike to ride, but I want to make a wild chopper custom - whats the difference in the frames? converting down to a 2 cylinder would work or not? going to hardtail the back of course, and would like a chain cause of the stretch int eh rear frame... what about the backbone? different? basically if someone has pictures of a stock xj frame bare, and a stock xs frame bare..

Ok the original sw arm on my DT had to be cut out of the chassis cos the spindle had siezed solid within the bush and its still solid. I have a second arm but that for some reason is narrower by 1/8 of an inch (exactly thats why i used old money) where the spindle fits but its a gradual increace from the bracings and there are no signs whatsoever of damage. But that 1/8th of an inch makes getting the wheel assy in and out a complete ba5t4rd. My gut says its manufacturing issues with the spare arm rather than any real fult. Y'know a Friday special. So do i fanny about with my old arm, or 'adjust' the spare? I still cant believe the bush spacer/sleeve and spind…

Hi all I have recently acquired an XJ600N, runs fine but has what seems to be a common problem .... oil dripping from the airbox drain pipe. I've read up and thanks to many am clear on what I need to do ..... except for one thing .... When removing the fuel tank, there has been no mention of setting the tap to 'off' ( dont think there is an 'off') or draining the tank before disconnecting the pipe. Maybe im being a bit dense, but what stops the fuel running out all over the place?? Many thanks, in advance.

Hi, First thread here, and like many others, I've registered to tap into the world of experts out there. My problem is the standard battery in my 97 TDM850 wont take any change anymore from a trickle charger. I guess it's shot and needs replacing, however the battery box looks to be situated in front of the rear shock and may need a gynecologist to get it out, any ideas folks? Cheers, Steve

I've just purchased this braced swinging arm off ebollox. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=370167362300 The bike I have is a 1WG, I can't seem to figure out how to fit the tension bar as there is no bracket to secure it to. I was assured it would fit a 1WG Has anyone got any ideas as the guy who listed the item hasn't replied to me. Have I been 'had over'?

Hi, I have recently finished restoring my 1982 DT175MX, it starts first kick and ticks over fine but when the revs get to about 2700 it misfires. I have changed the carb and reed valve for completely different units but still the same. I have noticed the the manual states that the CDI should be a 7 wire which includes a red but the CDI on the bike is a 6 wire with no red (the red wire from the flywheel is not connected to anything at present). The guy I bought the bike from said that it was running fine prior to him putting it into storage so I have assumed that the 6 wire CDI would be ok! Would anybody know if the CDI could be the problem? Thanks Ashley
