Hi guys and gals, Newish to the forum, so hi from me to begin with! Not sure quite where to start with this since I'm quite a novice with bikes but here I go... First off I'm an all weather rider, I have been riding it perfectly with no issues until a few days ago when I stopped off at the local shop. When I came back to the bike the only thing that happened was a loud single click with no engine activity at all, luckily this was only 2 minutes away from my house. I traced the loud click noise to the starter relay, did a little google research and some people have suggested checking connections for errosion or a starter relay issue. So far I've checked and c…

Hi After a long delay I'm finally getting my bike back together though I've hit a snag, I ordered a bearing set from Wemoto which consisted of two bearings for the front wheel and and two for the back wheel with another for the sprocket carrier. The Haynes manual says that the FZR should have 2 bearings side by side on the RHS and one on the LHS making three. If this is right the bearings will not fit. I can't remember if this is right as it was a long time aga that I removed them for powder coating. If anyone can shed any light I would be grateful.

I think the time has come to replace the rear shocker on my 95 FZR600R Foxeye. Problem is that the only one I can find is a Hagon unit but they are coming in at about £280 when you include postage and I just dont have that kind of cash at the mo. Does anyone know if rear shocks from other bikes would bolt into mine? I read somewhere (an American forum I think) that the shocker off the 2004 R6 could be used ( a few of them are on fleabay right now for not much cash) or maybe one off a Thundercat would be ok. But obviously I dont want to go ahead and take the plunge only to find I have bought something that wont fit without major modification. Can anyone tell me what, …

my bike, a 1976 xs 360, runs best with its mufflers off. Unfortunately, I cook at a resort up in NH where I also live and even though the bike is small, it puts out some serious decibels when those mufflers aren't on it and I don't think management appreciates the awesome sounds that this bike can make. I'm hoping to find a pair of slip-ons that will make my bike sound unique and hungry but not quite as loud as a bike with straight pipes while still offering no restriction to the airflow which exists in harmony with the up jetting I did last winter and the pod air filters I replaced those huge boxes with. I tried putting the old mufflers that were on it when I purchased i…

  5. Hi there, Wondered if anyone could help with where I might find a piece of faring/cover of te XJ600n. I have recently bought my first very cheap XJ600s 199, which has, at some point been converted to the N. It is rather 'messy' around the electrics area under the handlebars where the small triangular black cover is supposed to fit. My apologies for not knowing the name of it but does anyone have any idea where i might find such a piece? Many thanks for your time..

Hello there I'm new to this forum and wandered if anyone could help me with a problem i have. I have a 1998 xj600n and noticed the for seals leaking. so i removed the fork legs and replaced the seals i had a bit of a problem finding out the correct stripping instructions as the Haynes manual i have only shows on kind of fork and typicaly mine was the other sort. My forks are twin disk. So i replaced the seals and dust covers ( the new seals were exactly the same dimensions as the old ones) once these were replaced and filled with oil and the bike built back up i took it for a test ride all was fine for about 10 miles. Then i noticed a bit of oil on the dust seals…

  9. Hi all, This is my first post here and unfortunately, it's not a happy one. I have a 2005 R6 with about 9000 miles. It started surging at idle during a track day last fall, and I've been stabbing at getting it fixed ever since. The bike is still rideable, but I know that it's something I needed to eventually get right. When cold and on high-idle, things seem to be ok, but once warm, the bike surges at idle and sometimes when I've been riding for while or revving hard, it will surge through such a wide RPM range it just dies. I've looked at numerous things and can get the bike to idle perfectly if I unplug one of two sensors, the Intake Air Pressure sensor or the Atm…

i have a 1998 thundercat and for some reason it keeps dyeing. this only happens when im going down the motorway or dual carraigeway from 70mph upwards, i still have electrics but if i pull back the throttle it splutters and dies more, if i pull in the clutch it dies completely, i pull over and try to start it... occasionally it will start with choke but most of the time it does not, if i leave it for a little while i can get back on n start it (not easily) and it will run fine for around 4 miles. i had the problem about 2 months ago so i changed the oil, spark plugs and got the carbs balanced, this seemed to cure the problem but now it is back and its 100 times worse.. t…

Hi guys I understand that the blue spot caliper is an easy upgrade for my 1992 FZR1000. Can I use calipers from other manufacturers or the gold spot ones? Any help with improving my bike is appreciated. Pete

  14. I'm diagnosing an idle issue and would like to have a few people measure the voltage at the atmospheric pressure sensor on their bikes and report it back here. I've got an '05 R6, but I think the sensor and working range is the same for '03-'05 R6 and '6+ R6S. Might even be the same for the current R6, don't know. The atmo sensor is in the tail section, just in front of the storage bin, on the right hand side. Depending on the meter probes you have, you might be able to do this test by only removing the seat. The sensor has a three wire connector. It's opposite from the tipover sensor. Basically you leave the sensor connected to the harness and "backtap" the connect…

Just put the bike back together after redoing all the valves and reskimming the head. Starts up perfect now. Took it for the MOT today but I couldn't get 3rd gear or above. Does anyone know how it goes through the gears to see if it is a fork location problem. ie is 1/2 on one slider and 3/4/5/6 on other ones? Can I access it from underneath with out having to drop the entire engine out.............again......... Any thoughts welcomed.

As much as the obvious answer is prob goin to be buy a new bike, is there anyway to get a better top end speed without any change on the acceleration? as far as i know the bike is standard apart from a Nexus exhaust. It pulls fine all the way up to 110 then seems to not budge from that, it was done on a private road as its silly to go fast on public roads. Andy

  18. hello to all only just joined the other day and i'm picking your brains already ! i've got a 1982 yamaha xt550, i've changed the oil, drained it from engine and frame, changed the filter, then put 1 1/2 of oil back in frame, then the last bit through the rear tappet inspection cover, with the kill switch off kicked it over till some oil come out of the filter housing then started it up run o.k, when it got hot i turned it off left it 5 mins and checked the level with the dipstick but it read just over the empty mark ?, i have found and checked how much oil goes in (1900cc), i've only just had it so not fully sure where i'm going wrong, any help would be grateful, many th…

First of all I have to turn my S model in a naked (a sort of N model)Do you think it’s enough to just put a N optical group on the S fork? It’s some support needed?
