Any suggestions/warnings considering any of the oil relocation kits for V-stars? Is there any known downside to making the change? Is it really as simple to install as claimed? Speaking of p..s poor design!!!

Hello again, After some research and talking to different people, i have worked out that my bike is running a later type engine (2002-03) with an early wiring loom (pre '97). I have managed to get hold of a servo system but am unable to plug this into my loom, as i require a later type CDI unit ( one with 2x 6 pin plugs and a 2 pin plug) as this has the YPVS control system built into it. Does anyone know if i can wire the newer type CDI into my loom or will i have to find a later model complete wiring loom? I have no reservations about cutting into mine to join them all up if it will work. Common sense tells me that if my old loom is running on a newer engine the…

Hi guys My FZR hasnt been moved for a few weeks. I dragged it out today and it started without too much fuss so I was very happy. Kicked up the side stand... no problem. Knocked it into first... clutch held in and it pulls forward. Apply the brake.. its stalls. It seems like the clutch is slipping slightly so when i brake to hold it stationary it cuts out. Is this just because its been stood, or do I need to break out the tools? Cheers Pete

  8. Apologies if this question has already been asked, but what would be a common cause for the speedo and milometer to suddenly stop working? All other electrics fine (apart from main beam and headlamp switch being back to front but not really a problem!) Theres a bunch of electrical wires beneath the headlamp... will it simply be a case of a loose wire somewhere? Thanks for any tips! Sam

According to Mr Haines the torque setting for the clutch pressure plate on a 2000(w) xj600s Diversion is 10Nm (70 psi) which doesn't seem very tight at all, also the clutch seems to rattle as well. Can anybody supply settings from Yamaha? Many thanks Mike

Hi, the chain and sprockets need replacing on my SR125 and I was thinking of changing the gear ratios. I ride at full throttle a lot on main roads so I though maxing the top speed with the sprockets I could find easily would be a good idea. I can get a -1 rear and a +1 or +2 front. I spoke to my Dad about this and he said if I make the front bigger I will have problems, I think he was mainly referring to the space inside the sprocket case. But I've had a look and there's plenty of room for just 2 more teeth in my opinion. Has anyone else done this? Do you think I will have any problems? Any comments would be appreciated. Cheers, James.

I am in the middle of repairing the original exhaust for my 1990 xj600. I've successfully cut out the rotten middle section and fabricated a replacement in stainless steel. I'm having it welded up as we speak. Then I came across this listing in ebay: xj600 downpipes Now for the newbie question... Assuming these are indeed the correct parts for a pre-Diversion xj600, can anyone tell me what the deal is with buying silencers to fit? Are all silencers specific to bike make and model or should I be able to source generic ones with some kind of 'universal' bracket (where 'universal' generally means 'useless')? I couldn't find any genuine yamaha xj600 silencers, jus…

Hi all, my bike got attacked on thursday night and as a result now has a nice big bash in the tank. Its got a crease in it so blowing it wont help. I have bought a second hand tank from E-bay but it is not guarantee'd fuel tight. My question is... If i cut the bottom out of the replacement tank around the seam, do you think the top part will sit over the top of the original one? I am thinking of bonding it on and just painting it to match. Can anyone see any problems with this?..ie. will the filler hole of the replacement sit inside the original? Many thanks, Mac. ps, looking for a cheap set of dominator headlights to replace my broken ones. chee…

Is there a drastic change in the bike's behavior if you get a sprocket with just 1 extra tooth in the rear, or 1 less in the front, or vice-versa? I know the bigger sprocket in the rear means acceleration and wheelies, and smaller means higher top end band, and blazing top speeds. Anything else?
