Had a bit of a water leak a week or two ago. No bother, an easy fix, just had to replace a hose clip and all was well. I noticed tho that the water that leaked out was a distinctly rusty colour. Now, Ive never changed the coolant since I had the bike (bad of me I know) But when we used to do that on cars and trucks at the garage I worked at many moons ago. We always used to put some Rad-flush thru the system before we dropped the water to wash out any muck and rubbish. Can you use the same stuff on bike engines? With them being a little more fragile than the big old lorries I used to work on I wasnt sure. Also, when filling the coolant back up, is the premixed stuff ok t…

I just replaced the sprockets on my '98 SR125 with a plus 2 front and less 1 back. I found the lack of acceleration irritating and I only got and extra 5mph out of it so I changed back to the standard front sprocket (14 teeth). Now when I accelerate in the lower gears it seems to take a while to get going but then when it kicks in the acceleration is still pretty good. What I am wondering is; is it because of the less 1 rear sprocket or could it be something to do with the clutch adjustment (I just replaced the disks and readjusted the clutch)? Cheers, James.

Hi there new to this forum. I have an 01 plate DT125, been having an ongoing problem with it, mainly the engine running rich, and having a noticable lack of power i.e struggles to hit 50. Originally I thought that the problem was due to a lack of compression and that the engine was needing rebuilt. But after the engine was rebuilt the problem remained. The oil pump has been adjusted and has made no difference. It is currently using a litre of two stroke for just under a tank of petrol. Any thoughts and advice would we welcome. Cheers.

My 1987 fz600 has developed cracks on the top fairing (where it joins onto the middle section), on the right hand side a piece has broken away where the two parts fix together. I think its developed due to the middle section missing fixings to the frame (by the exhaust) and the fairing rattling around. Whats the best way to fix the plastic? Some friends have suggest epoxy resin? I originally bought the bike with a view to junking the fairing and turning it into a street fighter however I kind of like the fairing. Does anyone have any pictures of the fz without the fairing? Any ideas on a good headlight re the street fighter option? Thanks

so i traded a mountain bike for this motor cycle which only has 6,500 miles on it about 4 months ago. got it cleaned up and ready to go. the carburetors have been nothing but trouble for me. i was able to get it running but then it would die and started to leak fuel. so i thought they needed cleaning. did that 4 times, replaced the gaskets, jets, needle valve and seats, the floats, cleaned the tank, put a fuel filter on it. they look clean as a wistle but i cant stop the leak unless i adjust the floats so there is hardly any gas in them, which then wont allow it to run over 6k rpm. i was reading on another forum which the bike sounded like it had the same problem and t…

Let me start by apologizing if I need to do an intro before jumping in and making a post. Point me in the direction of the intro area and I'll be happy to. So, we got this xs360 for my wife, neat little bike - kick and electric start, parallel twin, nice and light. I did the usual setting of points, dissassembling/cleaning/checking for vacuum leaks on the carbs, verified that we're charging, replaced broken fusebox. I also rebuilt the petcock and cleaned/coated the gas tank. So, it idles pretty good most of the time, but not reliably and it sporadically loses power. Not at a certain RPM, but randomly at different RPMs as I rideit. I think the loss of power may be r…

I've got a 1997 Royal Star that has, for the most part, been a good bike - with one problem. There seems to be a problem with the ignition. When starting out or after driving for miles sometimes it will just stop. I then have to jiggle the key, and sometimes hold it for a bit and it will then start up again and be fine for the rest of the day. There's really no rhyme or reason as to when, why or what causes this to happen. I've googled this problem and found others who have had this issue, but I've not found a fix for it. I would appreciate any help or suggestions!! Thanks in advance
