Hi there, I finally got my yb100 running for the first time since i got it 2 years ago. It ran for about 4 seconds, and was the proudest moment of my week. Now the problems: I took the original head cylinder off and replaced it because someone had drilled out the spark plug threads and inserted a brass fixing to take the spark plug. No doubt a replacement for stripped threads. But it isn't tight, and air leaks out past the spark plug and brass fitting, even after a good helping of instant gasket. Is instant gasket usable in this way or is there a better method? The used replacement cylinder head wasn't an exact fit, and the metal gasket doesn't make a proper seal. So …

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site, so I'm looking for any advice out there! If you can help it would be great thanks. Well the problems I have with my bike are when it is very wet or cold conditions. I drive a Virago XV 250cc. She's a 2001 reg, the problems i am having with her is when it gets very wet (I live in Ireland, so that is most of the year hahaha) the bike seems to lose power, almost like a fuel line fault but I know it is not that because i have checked that and nothing seems to be the matter. Personally i think it must be an electric fault but I'm not sure. I have talked to a friend about it and he seems to think that it could be a 'carb icing problem', …

Hi this is proberly a strange request! But how do you restrict a 04 Aerox 50cc? The reason I ask is because my daughter was stopped by the police last night and the got her to ride to the police station where they put her moped on a dyno to measure its top speed and it dregistered 41mph on their machine and seized her moped at a cost of £150 release fee Now I'm not happy so I need to restrict her machine in accordance to the manufacturers spec so they cant rob more money out me.

  8. I've got an '81 XS1100 chopper project that I'm working on. Right now it's got the stock 17" rear and 19" front. The problem is that I want to go with Whitewalls on this bike and Whitewalls in those sizes are next to impossible to find. 16" and 18" are everywhere. I can swap out the rear with a 16" from a XS11 Special and solve that problem. As far as I can see all the XS11's and XJ's had a 19" front. Did any of the smaller XS (650s, 750s, etc) have an 18" in the same XS mag style that would swap out?

Hello. I've got an SR125. My rear sprocket needs changing and reading my Haynes manual I'm pretty clear how I do that. However, I'm less clear on how I change the front sprocket (I've been tod these should be done at the same time). The only vague reference I can find in the Haynes is in a section entitled 'Removing the engine/gearbox unit from the frame', which talks about lifting up the fuel tank, diconnecting and removing the battery, removing the exhaust system etc, etc, before even getting to the front sprocket. I hope it's not that complicated. Can anybody help me out? Thanks.

i have a 99 r6. at low speeds, 30mph and under. applying the front brake causes a kangaroo affect. ive been told it may be the forks, the discs, or even a incorrect wheel alignment. (although i suspect the later problem would make it difficult to ride at all...) any help welcome. thanks

  12. Hi all. Been trying to source parts for the electrics on my 3HE FZR600. Found a guy locally who's breaking a similar bike - but his CDI, voltage reg etc are different to mine. However, I'm wondering is it possible to change my whole electrics for his, i.e. coils, cdi, voltage reg, full loom. Is this possible, or is it best avoided? My loom shows evidence that someone has been doing some DIY bodging before, thought clean loom always good plus would hopefully sort out my problems at last!! All opinions gratefully received :-)

okay peeps, another question for ya... my DT is now running great, albeit a little rich in the mid-rev range but that doesnt bother me much. anyhoo, if you let go of the throttle and then pull it open again, the engine will respond for a split second, then die for a second and then fire as usual, and it also tends to bog down off the line (often requiring a slip of the clutch to allow it to clear before departing) it also dies if i take a speed bump with too much speed or going up a steep hill and when your riding out with your mates, its kinda a pain in the ass is this related to the mid-range rich running or a completely different problem?, maybe f…

First thing in the morning when I start the bike up and put it in first, the bike jumps forward as if the clutch lever wasnt pulled in. The second time I start the bike, it goes into gear perfectly and stays fine for the rest of the day. Then the following morning we go through the same rigmoroll all over again. This morning I pumped the clutch lever a couple of times before I put it into gear and it went in sweet as you like. Any idea what could be causing this? The rest of the time it runs fine, the clutch and gearbox not missing a beat its just this first thing in the morning business that has me stumped. Any help greatfully accepted

I've only had the bike for a couple of weeks and I'm wondering if the following is normal. The bike won't start from cold with out either the choke on or some revs (or sometimes both). It then won't idle properly for a few minutes, when it does it seems to be idling slightly slowly (only slightly, about 1100 instead of 1200). I haven't managed to adjust the idle speed yet (will probably do it this weekend). The major problem I have is the idle speed when the choke is on, it seems to be between 3 and 4 thousand rpm. Is this normal? I think I'm really annoying the neighbours in the morning sitting on the drive with the bike idling at 4 grand waiting for it to warm up.
