Hey all. I've had my first sport bike (not first bike), a 95 fzr600, for about 3 weeks now. I'm gathering things I need to fix whatnot and one thing I'm unsure on if it's normal or not, is that when I get to about 6k rpm the bike produces a very fine vibration. It's not scary or anything, just a fine vibration. Is this normal? The vibration stops after 6.5k or so I think. Also, I've noticed a clanky noise seemingly from the chain sometimes that will vibrate my left foot a bit on certain amounts of acceleration. Sounds almost like the chain rubs a piece of metal briefly then returns to normal.

Hi, wondered if any one has any idea on indicators. Bike has been running fine for the last 5 months. However I noticed sometime ago the rigth hand front indicator would intermitently stop flashing and stay on. Left one works fine. I took the head lamp of to replace the head bulb and noticed the same right/indicator didn't flash. Reasembled the head unit and it flashed again. Carried on riding and now a couple of months later the bulb has blown and I've come to replace it and noticed it doesn't come on at all. The back right indicator comes on and stays on. Both left indicators flash fine. its just the front right that's the problem. I cleaned up the bullet conn…

Was poking around my FZR again yesterday & noticed that there was a hose lying loose. Its approx 2 foot long, has a black jobbie (yes, thats a technical term!! ) in the middle - see pic below. Anyone know what this is? I think its a vent hose but not sure where it should be connected to. Thanks all!

I've had a couple of these, the current one is now in as many pieces as possible. I was about to have the frame shot-blasted and all the ally parts cleaned up, respray etc. The make or break point has come with the rear suspension linkages, which are dry and worn. The relay arm bushes into the swinging arm, for instance, are going to be impossible to find. I suppose I'll have to have them made - does anyone know if this is worth it?

Took my FZ6 out for a long run yesterday 150 mile round trip....when i got home i had oil on me boot and the lower fairing was dripping with oil...the culprit was lower crankcase plug the one that is 5 inches forward of the oil level window. Figured id nip it up first only to find the damn thing fell to pieces...apparently it was damaged at some point in its 22 year history and cleverly painted over to hide the crack in the top of the head...so i removed the offending plug and found that whoever had bodge fixed it had also used what i think is araldite to seal the plug on the inside, only thing is i only found a quarter of the stuff in the crankase housing So the qu…

hello everyone, I posted a thread about my 1980 SX400 that ran only on choke, one of the suggestions was that the jets are clogged or dirty gas and gas tank, well I took the carbs out open the float bowl pull out the idle jets and re clean them ( they were not clogged) I checked the petcock filter it is clean there is no rust in the gas tank, as for the idle going up and hanging some where I read that is running lean, I unplugged the caps of the mixture adjust screw and turn out three full turns, put everything back together except the air box, now the bike does not run I got spark, I got fuel coming to the carbs, yet would not run, any ideas?

Hi guys Having checked my fzr tonight and spent ages looking into its misbehaving clutch, I have found it to be elmost empty of fluid. My plan now is to replace the fluid and bleed it through. The seal on the m/c looks fine, and the hoses are new braided ones. Obviously I will be checking for leaks to determine where the fluid went, although there was no obvious fault. My question is... what is the proceedure for bleeding a hydraulic clutch? Ive done brakes loads of times.. Cheers Pete

I have a poorly Serow that runs completely out of power at quarter throttle. I checked the usual carb and valve clearances, flywheel etc, then found the CDI unit fastened together with insulating tape. Being super intelligent, I guessed that another CDI unit might be needed. My 1987 bike does not have an electric starter and the old CDI unit has only six wires. (Ref 2LN-MO 76F) I bought a newer one for electric start models, (ref488 217 maybe, it is badly smudged), thinking I would just leave out the starter wires but the colour codes of the nine wires have apparently changed and I don't know where to shove the bullets. Any suggestions? I have a Haynes manual for th…

Started to strip down my front forks and discovered one of the top nuts has been previously over-tightened and butchered slightly. Its even more butchered now after trying to get it off, will probably end up cutting it off or something. Anyhow, my question is where to get a new one from cheaply. Bike is a 1999 yz250 and wondering what other makes/models used same part. Are they the same as ones fitted to a honda cr125r 1998-2002? Yamaha's part number is 5DH-23111-L0-00 so far been unable to cross ref part numbers between manufacturers.

Hi, I have just bought a tw125 as my first bike. Once I get the engine running it runs perfect...getting it started in the first place however is a different story. When I press the start button I can hear the starter turning over but it dosen't start. Sometimes I can get it started by persevering with the elec start and other times I need to bump it. Once it has warmed up it starts straight away. I have had a look at the spark plug and when I first press the electric start I get a spark, then nothing and then when I let go of the starter I get another spark. I am very much a beginner when it comes to this sort of thing so should I be getting a constant spark whe…

This is my little xs400 Seca and I'm very fond of it If I find the silencers I think will look best on it, I will change the 2in1 into 1in1 on each side. But I also would like to change the fork, I've been looking at some XS models (XS500 to 650) with double frontbrake's, my question is: Will the fork fit for my Seca or should I forget about it. Thanks for a great site.
