    Having moved home to South Manchester, I managed to also get a place with a garage [yay! be able to do repairs/maintenance and stay dry!]. With this, I've found that the bike smells rather strongly of petrol for a bike after using it. Being relatively new to bikes, I have no idea if this is normal, or cause for any concern. There's no spillage on the ground, and the smell's gone by the morning. Hell, it's gone after a few hours. But it does limit the use of the garage for anything else, as it's a bit "blergh!" to be in for any length of time with no real ventilation.     Hi I have a dt 125 r 2007 it's been stood up for 13 weeks With a jump start started ticks over lovely starts first time every time I changed the spark plug it's fine put it in gear it cuts out anyone who knows what this cud be help please

  4. Hey, I am new to the world of motorcycling but grew up riding 50's and owned a yz125. I am new to working on bikes and I recently purchased a 1987 Yama XT350 with 7k miles on it to learn to ride on and commute nearby to school and work. When I test rode the bike it rode fine but then after purchasing it and riding it home I noticed some problems. First of all, when I manage to start the bike and let it idle it is very rough and ranges through 1.5k to 2.5k rpms and throughout the idle it will randomly make a quick tick noise and shutter for a sec.     Hi I have been doing up my Yamaha and when I start it I push choke in but when I apply throttle it just about stops on me and I have to let the throttle of so that it will pick up then apply it very slowly. So hope someone can help me out there as I have tried everything that I can think off.

    Hi Im after some advice on coils for my xj900 1983 . Should both coils have battery voltage feed going to them .I seem to have battery voltage feeding coil 2 which has good spark supplying pots 2 and 3 but have a lot less voltage on coil 1 and the spark is poor to pots 1 and 4 . All resistance readings from from lead caps and leads are good . New spark plugs gapped correctly and resistance from pick up coils to ignitor are good . One thing I did notice is I've lost neutral light of instruments . Bulb ok so would a dodgy neutral switch stop the bike from firing up Thanks in advance Alistair

  9. My yamaha ybr 125 has developed a fault, as described posted in newbie section! Started to cut out while riding after a short stop, restarted while still moving. Now has begun to be hard to start. When starts runs sweet. 2006 standard carb version.

    Just changed the 2 stroke oil on him fired him up and noticed bubbles coming out on carb side of head gasket. Was replaced and torqued to Haynes manual specs not 50 miles ago. Can head warp on such a small engine? Regards Simon

    Hi guys, My DT 125 MX has been running well with very few problems apart from it dying when accelerating quickly. The bike runs well but when you pin the accelerator open fast, the bike feels like it doesn't want to go any faster, and the revs drop 'bogs down'. I took the carb off and cleaned all the jets, put it back on and still have the same problem. The clean helped slightly but not much. At the moment, the air filter is a stocking which isn't ideal, when I remove the air filter the bike dyes much more, even at slower speeds. I tried putting some thicker foam over the intake to in theory 'increase pressure' thinking this might solve the problem as seen as I alread…

    hey guys! I have a problem with the FJ1200. when is getting hot, is starting misfire. this is not happening with the engine cold. I check the spark plugs and everything seems to be ok here. can be the ignition coil don`t working properly at hot temperatures? thank you!

    Hello.... I'm restoring an '83 Y plate DT125LC Mk 1 - 10V model It came to me as a rolling chassis and bit by bit I've 95% of the bits together to start the build. Body work is all there minus a few small brackets etc... Exhaust, swinging... fork tubes will need to be either rechromed or replaced with NOS items. I could not source a 10V DT125LC engine for love nor money, but did manage to get the 12W RD125LC engine, which has dropped straight in. I'm not a purist... it will be my bike to keep so I can live with the fact that its not got matching engine and frame numbers (a lot of the 125's we ran as teenagers ended up with engine swaps when we blew them up) AND that its a…

    Both my ols YX600 Radian and my present XV750 had/have these fitted. Im a fan of em. Id like to mod the FZ6 fro them. I originally thought that the timer was inbuilt into the relay, and I could just swap out the realy, but now I dont think thats the case, I reckon they pick up the signal from the speedo/odo, based on distance travelled after the relay is activated. A timer would simply switch off if you were stopped at the lights. Has anyone modded their bikes to fit self cancelling turn signals?

    Hi all, Newbie here, I have wanted to learn to ride for years and only just got around to it. I know nothing about bikes, but I used to do a bit of work on cars. I took the front wheel off to change the front disc (the bolts needed an impact driver to remove), and then got a bit carried away and removed most parts of the bike. I am keen to spray paint the frame and get rid of some of the rust. The previous owner had hacked a few bits away as the bike has been customised into a bobber.     Hi all, completely new to bike owning, bought my 2012 ybr yesterday, and checking it over today I notice the centre when up rubs against the chain, it's not supposed to (obviously!) but I am not sure what's not working or missing to allow it to do that, anyone got a similar bike and could have a quick look and let me know? The exhaust cover was removed along with some of the wields and brackets, I wonder if there's supposed to be something on there to block the stand from going up that high so it touches the chain on the other side? cheers!

    Hi, could someone please help, I have a 1991 fzr 600 genesis and I'm trying to balance the carbs, the problem I have is where do you connect the four hoses to on the carbs taken the air box off and petrol tank but for the life of cant see anywhere to attach the hoses, Regards Phil.

    Hi For some reason I was checking the brake light on my XJ6 and I noticed the brake light was on. I have worked out the cause is the hand brake lever. At one end of the hand brake lever is a "paddle" that when the lever is not held (i.e. the brake is not activated) the paddle pushes a little switch (see attached pictures ). I guess this is a very common set up (see attached link to photos). When the switch is pushed by the paddle the brake light is off. When I pull on the brake level the paddle comes away and the switch springs open and the rear brake light comes on. The problem is sometimes the paddle does not press the switch enough to switch off the brake light. I can…
