Hello....

I'm restoring an '83 Y plate DT125LC Mk 1 - 10V model

It came to me as a rolling chassis and bit by bit I've 95% of the bits together to start the build. Body work is all there minus a few small brackets etc... Exhaust, swinging... fork tubes will need to be either rechromed or replaced with NOS items.

I could not source a 10V DT125LC engine for love nor money, but did manage to get the 12W RD125LC engine, which has dropped straight in.

I'm not a purist... it will be my bike to keep so I can live with the fact that its not got matching engine and frame numbers (a lot of the 125's we ran as teenagers ended up with engine swaps when we blew them up) AND that its an 'RD' NOT a 'DT' engine.

I believe that the Mk1 DT had a 6 Volt electrical system BUT the RD had a 12 Volt system. I've sourced an RD loom so it should fit back together OK. Assuming that I just change the 6V bulbs for 12V is there anyting else I need to change? RD CDI, RD rectifyer? obviously 12V battery etc..

Would appreciate any responses.

Cheers
