    Hi folks, I'm going to take the stock exhaust off of my Trailway and repaint it black. I also want to clean up the engine and repaint it. Any recommendations for paint woud be gratefully received :-)

    I've a 2007 XVS 1100, built for the Jap, Hawaii and US markets. There appears to be some sort of lacquer on the shiny surfaces of the cast alloy wheels and some "white rust" has found it's way underneath. Does anyone know the best way to remove the lacquer completely, without damaging the painted/coated centre section please? I don't ride in the winter and a couple of sessions with Autosol each year is no hardship - and I like the polished finish!

    Hey lads Can one of you tell me how my rubber diaphragm should sit in the cylinder please. When I fill the cylinder to the correct level,, should the diaphragm be put in ( flat, ie. all closed up ) or ( open, ie. all pushed out ) Many thanks: Pat P's,,, how u all keeping

    Hey all hope all is well no Xmas madness is over I've pulled my project 1990 3rs yz125 out to finish her off. The last owner welded the inner hub were the springs tighten to so undoing them caused it to snap. The problem I'm having now is no one seems to be able to get one not know what other years may fit lol so I'm calling on the yamaha friends for some wisdom in helping me find one or info on other years please!!!!! My bikes been fine electrical wise since I've had it I went to go out on it two days ago hit the electric start it sounded normal and then it just made a dull noise when I pressed it, so I kicked it and it started took it for a ride came back tried the electric start immediately and it fired straight up. So the next morning tried electric start again and it made the usual noise then just died out and made a errr noise again every time I pressed it. So I took the battery off only to notice the plastic bits on top holding the fluid in weren't pushed all the way in so I done that put it on charge and it read as fully charged so I put it back in the bik…

    Hi everyone I have just bought a1980 dt175 wiring loom for my 1982 dt175 on the 1980 loom all I can see is different is the extra wire out of the magneto and the Cdi unit which is the red wire if I just discard the extra wire will that be ok and if anyone knows anything different would be grateful on their input

    my dtr keeps cutting out when it does this its like someones pressed the kill switch. it just doesnt fire at all. i have put a new spark plug in and its still the same, it only does it once in a while. can anyone help?

  9. .when I put my bike into 1st it starts moving forward, even with my clutch fully held in I'm having to hold the brakes to stop going, n its murder getting it back into neutral. Is this something I can fix myself? Or would I be best taking it back to a mechanic?

    Hello i just got a 06 DT125x sm and on the way home had some running trouble After doing the normal plug and petrol change and clean the carb out i noticed the power valve motor was not doing the self clean when i turn on the ig i moved the PV to a mid point and the bike ran fine im not sure if its the power valve motor not working and if its controlled by the cdi unit or not ( i have the 5 wire servo) the valve and cables are not stuck but the wire behind the spedo has been earthed does that stop the power valve motor from working? i though by earthing that it make it rev more and de-restrictes the bike a little is th…

  11. So I have the jets and the reeds are on the way but I'm wondering if it's worth buying the dt230 airbox snorkel instead of just removing the stock one. Does anyone one run their bike without a snorkel and is it okay? Cheers

    Hi, I'm currently having issues with my 1994 XJ900f. I've owned I for just under a year and a half now and it's served me well with little issues until about two months ago when the weather turned, since then everything has changed. Basically when I try to start the bike its just constantly turning over and refusing to fire up and occasionally making a wering noise as if the starter is just letting go of the engine and every now and then the oil light comes on and cuts everything off.     I've just done a proper plug chop with a brand new plug. I did one pull through the gears up to 5th WOT and held it for about 10 seconds, then killed it and coasted to the side of the road where I put the old plug back in. Here's what the test plug looks like: *EDIT* I chopped slightly more thread off: There is no brown ring at the base at all, the electrode is all white, does this mean the bike is running lean and that I should swap the 240 jet for the 250?     I think I've put too much oil in my xj600n, the window on side of bike looked empty so I put 2litres of oil in. I then noticed I couldn't get first gear when engine was warm.so I took some small tubing (like fish tank tube) and now its fine.could I have ruined my engine if left?????

  16. I've just fitted the bigger jet and changed the reeds on the dt but do I keep the standard reed stop to prevent the reeds from snapping or do I not use it at all? My reeds didn't come with the little rectangular piece of metal that goes under the screws. Cheers

    I got my bike 2 months ago and its been given me jip for a wee while, so I got someone to take my bike apart and he's noticed my brakes are rotten n fucked and my chain is far too loose. I'm considering going to the garage that sold me the bike because they appaz done a full and service check of the bike before I bought it, so I was wondering if this much damage could be done in such a short space of time. Just thought id check before raising hell and making a clown of myself.

    Hi all, I have an XV1600 I've just bought a couple of weeks back. 2001 model but just 11500 miles and great condition overall. MY QUESTION I've noticed a few times that when I first turn on the ignition, the needles / gauges 'set' as they should but there is a 'chattering' noise a bit like a relay rapidly dropping in and out from somewhere lower down on the bike. It lasts only a second or so and quickly dies out. The bike starts and runs fine thereafter. The battery is new and on an optimiser which suggests the battery is fully charged and holding its charge. Any ideas? Is this indicative of a problem? Thanks in advance.

    At the moment my bike has a full dep system and has been derestricted (speedo method). I'm going to buy some boyesen dual stage reeds and replace the standard air box snorkel to the one that came with the dt230, as it is slightly larger. My question is, for the upgrades I have just listed, what size jet do you think would be appropriate to upjet to? I have seen posts of people running similar upgrades running a 230 main jet and some running a 250 main jet. My powervalve is not pinned open. Also, is there any other mods that are worth doing while I do these things, I have seen some things about people modifying the rubber bit on the intake manifold. Cheers So the …
