Hi, having just bought a 82 dt125lc project bike, today I set about seeing if it would start, switch on & started first kick !! I then decided to swap the oil feed line from the pump to carb for a clear one so I could keep an eye on it. After fitting, I fired her up, but noticed that no oil was travelling up the tube to the carb. I,be tried pressurising the oil tank while holding throttle full open, bike turned off, but still nothing, I then put a syringe on the carb end of the tube and tried to draw the oil up using vacum but nowt !! What could be wrong?

Finished wok today and went to my bike to find the front tyre was flat. Really pissed off because of all the inconvenience it will cause me. I'll get up earlier for work to catch the bus now. It will be Tuesday by the time I get a new inner tube delivered and then I have to get it fitted. I will have to take the wheel off myself and take it to a garage. I've only just got the chain and sprockets sorted, which I was really pleased with. I got a gold chain and it looks the business. I really hope the curse hasn't come back to haunt me.

Have seen other posts about similar problems. My problem starts sometimes after short stops and at speed. It cuts out similar to running out of fuel. I can restart engine once its dead and ride on fine for a while but it has begun to become more regular. Plenty of fuel and plug looks fine and set correctly.

I have just recently bought my first road bike. I bought a Yamaha tzr 50. It has been working fine in my garden for last 2 weeks. I went up yesterday and started it, I left it going while I went to get something. I came back and it wasn't running. I tried restarting and nothing, I cleaned the spark plug then it started fine, I left it for another 5 mins to warm up while next to it. I tried to rev it and it just cut out. Then wouldn't start. I cleaned the sparkpug, it started fine left for 5 mins tried to rev and it cut out again. I have no idea what to do, any help is appreciated. The only thing I can think of is that the previous owner used the super unleaded petrol and …

Hey guys, new here, trying to help a friend as he is trying to sort this bike out. The other day he was pulled out on in London and his vfr8 was a little ruined so he is trying to sort this XJ6n out which he has had for a while. To cut a long story short, he acquired the bike from a friend after the owner sadly passed away but there were no keys. So we went thru the process of removing the ecu ignition and immob and sent it off to moto matrix. It came back today with a black key (no transponder) cut for the lock and a red and a black key, both transponders which weren't cut. (I have no idea why moto matrix didn't cut them as of yet). We did the oil change, emptied the tan…

This barely qualifies as a "technical" query, but if I do it wrong I feel there is unlimited opportunity for unnecessary-and-difficult-to-fix damage. The horn on the resurrected Virago 250 varies between "reedy" and "tooty" (much like my chest this week) - not much use as a horn. Looking at you tube videos of a horn disassembled, I guess for such an old bike the contacts are corroded. The horn seems pretty well sealed, it looks a lot of effort to take it apart and there will probably be leaks after reassembly. Although it would be satisfying to fix the original, I will buy a new horn, something generic like this I am assuming will do the job. However, I first have to ge…

  11. Started by IKE,

Hi, I have been browsing another site and spotted a vague reference to an electrode heated ratchet socket set used to heat specific areas of nuts/bolts to aid removal. I've done the usual Google/YouTube searches but can't find anything. I'm doing a restoration of an XJ900F (see projects section) and, although I don't need one of these heated thingies at the moment, I think it could be a useful tool to have. Has anyone seen or heard of anything like this? Thanks

  14. Hi, My problem is that my Crankshafts Connection rod bearing "blew" up. Now have to machine about 0,02mm off the the crankshaft and find new bearings to it. Does anybody know where I can buy or ask about bearing sizes outside and inside diameter because cant find any information about it?? Yahaha has color coder bearing but I found some information that it goes about +,002mm/color? So it wont fit to my purposes. Connection rods are fine so normal size outside diameter goes. Sorry My English is little "bad" but I am from Finland

I have bought a tzr50, that has engine and carb upgrades. It's top speed is around 60. This is a problem as I am only 16, meaning I need to reduce its top speed. I was hoping to do this by just adding a larger rear sprocket on the bike, but it seems I am unable to find any online. If anyone knows any other ways to reduce the top speed cheaply or any links to a 52ish tooth rear sprocket.

Hi, Is there anybody on here that has a good knowledge on the 77 to 81 XS750 series of bikes? My question is did the 3 downpipes change in any way throughout their production. Would a 1977 downpipes still fit a 1980 bike? Thanks in advance Ian

  18. Started by NoviceNick,

Hi All, My first query on here so go easy if format etc not as preferred. As my screen name suggests I am a novice to this but appreciate any help you guys can give. I have a 1996 (i think) DT125R which has been lying unused for circa 4 years. I have today fitted a new battery. When I switch the ignition on the bike makes the general start up noises suggesting that power is coming from the battery. However when I press the electric start the starter motor just clicks rather than starting the bike. I have had a look round the boards and couldn't find anything similar that may help but apologies if i have missed something obvious. Does anyone have any ideas? Cheers, Nicky
