I got my bike roughly 2 months ago and have done over 2k miles already, when I got it it only had 8000miles on the clock. Yesterday on my way home from work when I dropped from 3rd gear to 2nd(I was at traffic lights) I heard a clunk, this happened again at the next set of lights. I didn't think anything of this. But today I got caught at lights after travelling 22 miles and when I was sitting waiting for the lights to change (in 1st gear) the bike kept cutting out. I got it idling after a minute or two but when I pull away it stutters and then high revs appear from nowhere. It done this twice more at traffic lights but its finally gave up the ghost and when I try to idle…

Hello I'm just wondering if anyone could help me as I was riding my Yamaha Xt125x the other day and it randomly decided to bog out and die. I thought it might be because I was a little low on fuel and was riding with the choke on at the time. After a bit of fiddling I have managed to get it started fine (with kick start only) but then 20mins later I tried again and the button start worked and started first time so I've rode home and locked it away for the night but when I went out the next morning there was nothing and wouldn't start on either kick start or button start all the lights are on but when you use the button start they all dim maybe even go out and something (a…

Hello. I recently purchased a second hand Yamaha DT 50 R. I was told the year was 2009 but later found out it was much older. I'm still not sure what year the bike is as there seems to not be much info online. I would like to get an owners manual so I can start working on the bike but I don't even have that. Could someone help me identify the bike? Where would I be able to get spare parts? any useful sites where I could find info? Any information would be greatly appreciated as at the moment, I am completely lost. Thank You!

I had the carb off the bike the other day to get the dimensions of the reeds, after refitting the carb, I realised I didn't know where the red/pink hose goes. It comes out of the right side of the carb when it's fitted to the bike and isn't long enough to drain underneath the bike like the other long thin hose that comes from the carb. Any idea what it is and where it should go. I know it doesn't connect to anything but I'm not sure where to leave it. Cheers

Can anyone help me with the top speed of this bike? It will do 47mph at a stretch. I realise it wont go too fast being a 4 stroke , but I would like it to go closer 60mph rather than just 47mph. Thank you

Hello. I recently purchased an 03 R6 . Today I took it for a ride , and when I reached the red light , I put the bike in neutral . When the light turned green I downshifted to first , gave it gas and it wouldn't move . I tried 2nd and 3rd and it just revs high. It's like its stuck in neutral or the clutch is still being engaged. I'm hearing many different things . Someone please help

Hi guys. Yesterday I tried starting my bike and it wouldn't have it. Eventually after me putting it in gear and clutch in it started. This was a coincidence though because after filling up at a petrol station it wouldn't start again in gear or neutral. This problem doesnt happen all the time, it can go weeks without happening or happen once then start the 2nd time. It doesnt seem to be weather/temp related as it happens when cold or hot starting. Ive had this problem for a while along with another problem which is probably related. My bike would cut out and not start, or if it did start it would cut out couple of seconds down the road and struggle to start again. I recent…

hey guys how is everyone great I hope I thought I broke a piston skirt or a ring and it got stuck in the port or something, cause the engine locked up, but I turned out one of the screws holding my stator plate on had come loose and was tumbling around in there, unfortunately it smashed two of my flywheel magnets it was a mk2 flywheel with the four slots I had put on a "78" motor cause I blew a coil on the old stator , any way I got another coil off a friend of mine and will have to put that back in there so I will be running the stator with the low and high speed coils wich requires the 7 wire cdi wich got damaged when the high speed coil blew …

I done my cbt 6 weeks ago and have been driving about on my yamaha xvs dragstar 125 ever since, without any problems whatsoever....until....the 23rd of December, an old lady decided that she was going to pull out right in front of me on a 40mph road. I was only going 35ish mph as I planned on turning at the next corner at the end of the road so had already started slowing down, but at 35 mph I still gave her car a good whack. As I picked myself up off the ground and checked my bike over I couldn't see any problems. The old lady wad hysterically crying and faffing about on the road, I spent a good 10 minutes calming her down but eventually she started doing ma head in so I…

Hi guys this may seem a daft question but the retaining screw for the exhause baffle has worked its way loose and shot off somewhere causing the baffle to come loose, I have found yambits do a retaining plug, anyone know the size of bolt- required. (It may seem an insignificant question) Also the use of baffle packing stops me getting anywhere above 6000 rpm does anyone use it? Thanks for your time Rob

Got the clock open using special tool to carefully peel open the crimp face. Once opened we could see the loose bracket the cable screws onto is a press fit into rest of the mechanism. Pressed it carefully back in using a vice and re assembled. Working better now..powerband kicks in at 5500..sorry didn't take pics.

Hi all yam fans I have just finished a full restoration on my 79 dt175mx .all was well until the first test ride .when you pull away the clutch seems to judder and also it will rattle when the clutch is released and in idle. As soon as you pull the clutch in the noise goes away. I did notice on the engine rebuid that there is play in the main rivets going throught the clutch basket only when you twist it side to side.there was no ridges or grooves in the slots in the basket either. Any dt fans come across this one

Hey peeps. I've given up trying to find a top yoke to fit F.U.C.R, so im looking in to making one, I have the machines necessary available but am undecided as to exactly what spec of material i need. I've been looking at Alluminium 6082T, but am stuck between getting it in 5/8 (15.9mm) or 3/4 (19.5mm), the originals were closer to 3/4 but had webs machined into them, this one ideally is going to be solid, just a couple of 10mm holes to mount my dial brackets but thats it, the ignition switch is now down beside my left knee and telltales inside the clocks (what a f*cking job that was, need fingers like a gynecologist)
