Hello everyone, as part of my job I export UK bikes to Sweden but with this WR426 I have the VIN number : CJ02W-0002289 and not a conventional 17 digit vin number starting with a J. Obviously this is giving me a problem when trying to re-register it, what I need to know is, does anyone else have a WR426 with the same VIN layout and is it normal ?

Hi all I've just bought and fitted both a 2002 battery tray and a 2002 undertray to my 2000 R6. I've seen this done load of times, but the bottom of the undertray seems to be under tension and hangs about 10mm away from the pop-fastners wholes that it should marry up with. (http://p1.bikepics.com/pics/2009/11/25/bikepics-1838901-full.jpg) I can't see that I've done anything wrong, but does anyone have any ideas why it seems to be dropping at the bottom for some reason? Any ideas would be appreciated

Hi, Having recently done a vital engine rebuild - the second gear wasn't selecting but now it is Hooray I'm left with the vital task of replacing a couple of oil seals then hopefully it'll be "bob's your uncle" for this latest maintenance do. Not forgetting many thanks to Dean & Dean and mates in Peterborough for helping us out big time after lubrication probs last week! It is heartwarming when a biker stops to help if you get into trouble. However I've put the engine back together now, and don't wish to meddle too much if poss so I'm posting this to see if anyone knows the dimensions of these parts for the SR125 custom: 1)Clutch pushr…

When I push the start button the solenoid clicks but it takes a few pushes of the button to get the starter to move. I had this problem before on a different bike and it turned out it was the main engine earth (black cable) to the engine. It was loose and corroded. Could anyone tell me where the main earth cable is on the xvs 125 please. Thanks! (no rush, im not going to use it until the snow clears)

You probably don't know, but I manufacture new CDi units for vintage Yamaha's. As a result, I don't get out much, have a nightshift 'tan' and an extensive collection of electrical data and knowledge. Modern bikes have ECU's with 'hall effect' sensors to provide ignition timing and engine speed information (well my BMW does). When a fault is encountered and trouble shooting has to be done- in the absence of plug in OEM diagnostics I've used an oscilloscope to look at the output of hall effect sensors to see if they are working. Now I've worked out a really simple way of testing hall effect sensors, it is cheap and easy (no 'scope required). I say easy you do n…

I have a 1998 Yamaha SR125 Custom that just failed MOT (roadworthy test) because the front brakes are binding. The front calliper was extremely dirty, I removed it, disassembled it, cleaned it well and put it back together. The brake pads are getting stuck to the metal shims each side and this seems to be the cause of the trouble. From memory I recall that brake pads normally move easily and that the fit isn't particularly tight where the shims are. The shims aren't bent/warped/damaged/badly worn at all, in fact, they look like they are in fairly good condition. I spent 30 minutes searching the internet and I haven't been able to find a place that I can buy the shims from…

Hi All and Merry Christmas....... My DT250MX (1980) is leaking petrol where the petcock attaches to the tank, I have replaced the rubber seal on the petcock and stripped back the paint to try yo get a good seal but with no success. It looks like the tank has been messed about with at some point and is a wee bit bashed at the conncection. Is there any sealant I can use round the petcock to get a seal that is petrol resistant and flexible? Thanks sandy

Hi! I am new to motorbikes and bought a 125 dragstar in the sumemr to learn on. The last time I used it was about 6 weeks ago and I went to start it up the other day and it won't start (had been fine before). I have checked the engine cut out switch and put it in neutral etc, filled the petrol, checked and fully charged the battery and took out the spark plugs and had a look (not really sure what I'm looking for, but they were clean and looked ok?). It turns over and sometimes sounds like it's about to start, but then doesn't. Anyone know what I should check next? Thank you!

Hi, I'm after a replacement rear wheel for my 1995 FZR600R 4JH. The seller of ebay uk item number: 160386180769 insists this wheel came off a 4JH model from 1993 - stating this model was sold elsewhere in the world from 1993. I thought the 4JH model wasn't first sold until 1994 ? Does anyone know for sure ? I don't want to buy the wrong wheel. Thanks, Kawasakifreak

Hi peeples...I've an import 90's 3TJ, that has had a 1WG bottom end fitted prior to me taking ownership. Now, problem is that as there's not much on the net for the 3TJ, there appears to be even less for the 1WG. My problem is that i can't locate the oil pressure sensor on the engine...this maybe because it doesn't have one...or its possibly located under a cover or in a less obvious place...and the spare wire i have on the loom and hence the panel light, isn't connected to anything so i've no way of knowing when riding if i've low oil pressure. Can anyone help, tell me where the oil sensor is if there is one? Also, i've now nearly fully stripped the bike down …
