Hay guys, so I recently bought this Yammy CT-1 (from '72 I believe), seller said it used to run, but died cause o' no spark.

Stripped it down, and I'm down to the stator... any way to check if it works or not?

He also included a coil... I have NO idea here it bolts or where it connects to the stator (coil has only two wires coming out of it - one for the spark plug, and one loose black connector... to ??)

If anyone needs pics of anything specific, just ask! THANKS~

Hi Oscar and welcome.

Am a new member myself and new to motorbikes so may not be too much help but do have a 72 ct175 myself which am working on and lesrning on.

Firstly you will need to hook up that coil. Will need to remove the tank to fit it on. Fits on the bracket there (you will see the bolt holes that are 55mm apart) and the little black wire you mentioned should have a bullet type connector and you will see the female connector on a black wire next to it up on the top tube. Are the points ok? At the very least get them cleaned and adjusted for timing. Spark plug hooked up and laying on the cylinder head with the ignition on and kick her over and look for the "fat blue spark"

Get your self a manual as i have done recently and make life easier. Hope this helps

I can never understand why people do this, surely the FIRST thing is to get some ideas as to why it wont run and why it lost its spark. Get and read a manual, that would give you some initial targets. It could just be a duff plug for chrisakes.

When he comes back and says "I checked for spark with several plugs".............

If he had checked the plug then at least 50per cent of the coil connections and where to find it would no longer be a mystery eh?
