Hi,

I came to check the oil level on my 400 virago yesterday.

Only to find the filler cap doesn't have a dipstick attached, and I cannot see a viewing window.

I was just wondering if anyone could point the obvious out of how I check the level ;)

Thank you

Not sure of your type but there is a 'window' on my xvs650 but you have to get down to ground level to see it. It is under the gear change. A small torch is useful.

Ah! Brilliant I am just blind that's good.

Sorry, but if it is all the same colour then there is sufficient oil in there?

I'm lost without a dipstick

(the oil should be fine, had an oil and filter change with the service about 3months ago I think)

on the ring around the window there are upper and lower marks which equate to full and min levels.

The bike has to be upright - my bike has to be upright - for this to operate correctly - no good on sidestand.

If your glass is full it may be overfull.

Yes, give me a dipstick like I had on the ybs125 any time

cheers
