This is my first time on the forum and I need some help. I sold off my dirt bike to buy a street bike. When I first got it the bike ran great; it only had less than 30k on it and it the motor was in good shape. I probably put 400 or so miles on it so far. The other day I went to go to the gas station. It started up just fine and was running great, but about 5 minutes into the ride or so the bike started to run really badly. Almost as if it was running with the choke on. It would just bog down if you gave it throttle and it wouldnt rev past 4k. I was on a 25 mph street when this happened. It was running badly for about a mile and then just died. I pulled of to …

Hello other users. I bought a low mileage 1995 Divvy, which has been in a drop and has had the bars exchanged for pink renthal ones, which clashed with the fairing (physical clash, the colour clash of pink bars and maroon fairing pales into insignificance when I get on the bike, yellow dayglow giant that I am LOL). Anyway, the bars are too wide and made the bike feel more like my little brother's Transalp than my old XJ, more importantly they're too wide for filtering, so I've bought original ones to replace them. I've took a photo, but don't know how to add it, the Brake hose is routed from the master cylinder, down the front of the top yoke, between the right for…

Hi everyone, i`m a bit of a novice when it comes to tinkering with my YBR..... i know the basics, but that's about it. Lately i have been having problems getting my bike started up, i think it may be an electrical issue with the ignition? I will describe the problem and if anyone has any ideas on what to check i'd be very grateful. Firstly, i must say that this problem started with my headlight flickering a lot when riding at night, cutting in and out.... not sure if this is a common problem? Then i noticed the bike Engine Management Light flashing when riding and the bike started to slow and pull up.... before cutting back in again and speeding up, with the light t…

Hi please please please can somebody help?!! I've had to join as completely flummoxed! A fortnight ago we bought a 1994 YZF 750 R Import. It was running perfectly when we went and looked at it, and it was running fine on the patio last weekend (we brought it home in a van), but my other half then noticed the temperature gauge hadn't moved after it was standing ticking over for about 20 mins. He tried shorting the gauge as advised by earthing the wire and the gauge went to the top no problem. So we were told it could only be the sensor, so have bought another sensor (the small sender with 1 terminal) and fitted it tonight. He had the bike out on the patio aft…

recently bought a sr 125 1993, trouble is it has a bad knocking at what seems like the top of the engine. Tried tappets they seem fine, there is definatly oil getting to the top end, so im thinking cam shaft bearings. Are these easy enough to change or does anyone have any ideas on what else it may be? Any help or suggestions much appreciated.

Hi I am currently playing around with my sons cs50 (02). It ran ok on its first outing for him on saturday evening (approx 6 miles) then stopped. IT wouldn't start by button but did with a kick. Since then its been cuting out alot and now will not start at all We have a good spark on the removed plug when you crank by button or kick start. I have strripped down the delorto carb and cleaned every thing, checked the jets etc and all seems well. The needle valve sits all the way down inside the carb and isnt bent and runs up and down ok with the twist grip. Do any of you clever chaps have any suggestions as what to look for to get it running again. (sensible ones pleas…

I packed my 650 dragstar up for the winter and now that it's looking nicer out I've decided to get it back out. Sadly though it won't start up! I've got a new battery in there with full charge so I've established that isnt the problem. When I've got the key turned in the ignition all the electrics work. Neutral light comes on, indicators work, headlight works etc. However when I push the electric start I get nothing. So... anybody knowledgeable know what my problem is likely to be and whether it's something I can fix myself or will it need to go to a garage?

I've got a Yamaha DT 400 enduro which has served me well since 1978. I went to start it the other day and no spark. plug is good and no current exiting the spark plug cap/boot. Of the three coils under behind the flywheel, which must be working for the bike to fire? (i have no lights and no battery so one or two of these coils may not be necessary) Does anyone know the correct resistance/ohm readings that should correspond with each coil(including the ignition coil under the gas tank)to tell which coil is and isnt working. I figure once I get the coils right I'll know whether the cdi unit needs replacing. thanks in advance for any input anyone may have

Can anyone help. I have a 1989 yb100 deluxe and for the past 2 mot's it has scraped through on the rear shockers. Last year i bought some shox on ebay but they are longer than mine and the fixings are different. I have been looking for a reason for this and noticed someone on ebay saying that the deluxe model has smaller shox which i think is right. So if this is right does anyone know where i can lay my hands on some as they seem to be like hens teeth. Simon.

Rebuilt my xt and ever since it hasn't idled properly... I've gone over the manifold a few times making sure there isn't an air leak with wd40 when its running (to no success) My rectifier is bad, so the battery doesnt charge so I have to keep charging the battery or its a complete bas**** to start :\ Anyway it won't idle, it runs with choke on (sounds like an air leak) and more recently it started missfiring at about 6k revs so I changed the plug and nothing changed - After 2 days the missfiring got really bad at any revs and began sounding like an F1 cars launch control/rev limiter lol Its unridable now it just missfires then dies I dont think it is an air l…

I tried to find a previous post about this issue, but didnt find anything completely similar. I getting my '73 TX500 back to riding condition and tried to start it with the electric start. When I push the button, it sounds like it is engaging, then after a second or so, I hear horrible clanking coming from th left side of the bike. It sounds like a loose chain clanking around inside th cover. I took off the left cover thinking it may be the starter chain (the chain that engages the flywheel and starter motor) and I noticed when I looked at it, it looked to be a little droopy between the chain guide and the starter motor. But when I look at pictures of other guys similar b…

Appreciating that there is a sticky topic on this I have a specific question re swapping out the headlight bulb and was looking for opinions and experiences (if any). It's 1 2010 YBR if that makes any difference. The bike is fitted as standard with a 35W/35W HS1 lamp. I spoke to a main dealer who supplied me a 55W/55W lamp saying that it should be ok but, maybe, there might be an issue with the battery being discharged if I spend a lot of time idling. Questions are: 1. Is there likely to be an issue with the supply wires? If my calcs are correct, a 35W lamp at 12V draws around 3 amps (35W divided by 12 volts) while a 55W would draw more like 4.5 amps [not …

Hi there all, i picked up my dt125 yesterday its a 2002 dt125r, it revs cleanley up to 10, 11 thousand revs when its stationary, as soon as you set off in first it wont go past 7000 revs in all gears and almost gives up in 5th and 6th, it feels like its electronically restricted, i just wondered if anyone has experienced this before and if so what the hell is wrong with it, my mate has just bought the exact same bike but a 2003 model and it has the same problem, any help would be greatly appreciated, many thanks Tom
