just brought home a xs250 as a project for my son however has no spark whats the best way to establish if power is getting to the points regards Jez

Hi, Standard headight bulb is the BA20d 35w/35w luminescence. Could i fit a 45/40w halogen BA20d bulb with no adverse effects on battery drain, or wiring? Thanks

ok i ve my xvs ages now i got it off ebay it had this problem when i got it ( i suspect thats why the previous owner sold) approx half turn of throttle an it struggles to fire i ve cleaned out the carb an also found an old post on here about the same problem an it says its too do with the vacum effect in the fuel pipes but i ve tried running it in reserve an its still the same any ideas?

I've just bought a DT175 1G1, the ignition switch has been rogered at some point in the past (the key will come out even in the "on" position. There are no pattern parts available, as anyone with a DT175, 250 or 400 will tell you! Does anyone know of anyone who can repair ignition switches? Or does anyone have one for sale? Thanks, Chris.

Ive restored a 1981 yz125h and cant get it to run properly. It runs fine flat out at full throttle however it has no power and runs rough in the midrange and will not idle no matter how I ajust the idle and air screws. I have fully rebuilt the motor. Also can anyone tell me the slide and needle sizes thanks in advance bengo new member. PS its an Australian model with a 32mm mikuni carb.

Hey, topend blew on my bike so I stripped it down today to find a scored up piston - Shop quoted me £110 for new piston, rings, clips etc but I've found them cheaper online... Is the standard (non oversize) piston 57.00mm? Cheers

Hello all I'm a new owner of a '07 ybr 125, my first bike, and oh so excited. I'm keen to get involved and perform as much of the maintenance and servicing as possible myself. Apologies if this has come up before, but I would really appreciate it if people can give their opinions on this question. What are are the basic tools I should have to hand to make the essential ybr toolbox? What tools have you found indispensible, or are there any jobs that I'll never be able to do because the tools simply aren't available to me? I look forward to your suggestions Cheers, Dom

I am in need of front wheel for a 09 FZ6R. There aren't many of these bikes around, apparently , and I'm having some trouble finding a straight replacement. Is there another model that fits it ? The embossed code is: "JY2" ... why does Yamaha think it needs to make so many models of 600cc bikes? R6/S, R6, FZ6, FZ6R,etc. ? Really ? So many, so slightly diff from one another ...Does anyone know of a reputable wheelsmith here in the states ? Thanx for your invaluable insight !

when i start my bike it makes a rattling noise once it has warmed up you can only hear it faintly but i cant tell if its top end or bottom end any way of telling with out striping it down ???

Hi all. I just got home most excited from the 50 mile ride back from purchasing my first bike, an '07 Yamaha YBR 125. The right mirror is fine, but when I bought the bike the guy said he had left it outside of college and when he came back to it the left mirror was limp on it's stalk. I don't think it's been dropped as there are no marks on the mirror itself, so he was either being straight with me or it's just corroded. I took the rubber sleeve off the joint and the ball part of the joint has come away from the socket part, and it's a brownish rust colour inside. Is there any way to pull it apart and replace and worn parts inside the stalk (such as some sort of spring…

Hi, new to forum and after advice plz! Name is Kel and I ride a T reg yamahaxj600, with several irritating problems! Great bike when going but at the mo, rear indicator mucking about, only works when you push bulb so am going to fit new bits. Now she is being picky about starting (electric start button) will only work sometimes!!! Back to biking after 26 year break...........can't believe I'm going to say I miss the kick start!!! Hey all, For years I have been using Motul oil in my '97 YZF 750 RJ. The 5100 stuff. I just took my bike out of long term storage and now see that a gallon of it cost $49! I am thinking about switching to Yamalube (OEM stuff). It is only $35 for a gallon. Thoughts please?

Hi all. I’m new to manual bikes (total riding time = CBT + 1 hour!) and have a Yamaha YBR 125… I have noticed that if I put my bike into neutral from second gear, I then struggle to engage first again. If however I put the bike in neutral from first gear then I never have a problem getting back in to first. I’m new to this - is it me or the bike? Should I avoid going from second to neutral, and instead go all the way down to first and then back up to neutral? Thanks.

The days of fast bikes has passed! My Dragstar is now just a summer option and now out of mothballs for 2011. Problem - The fuel pours out of the overflow pipe, I have stripped the tank etc away and blown out the carbs twice, rebuilt and she runs but still pours Liquid Gold? Help/ Cruisermel

Hi All i hae a 1985 DT50MX CDI with a 1980 TY50 engine in, when you pull away all is fine then about half throttle is holds back for a while then goes well again, as long as you keep the revs up its ok. (like getting starved of air/petrol) i have cleaned carb out cleaned jets and blown out all holes, have new air filter and spark plug and coil fitted( secondery high resistance 6Mohm) ( was playing up before i fitted these). it kicks over first time, have checked for air leaks but cant find any, has had an engine rebuild about 1000 miles ago , all was working fine a year ago ( has been in shed since then , just been getting it ready but cant put my finger on the proble…

hi folks. i own a ybr 125 bike 06 plate and the battery is not holding a charge so im gonna get a new battery and was wondering if anyone can tell me if the new gel battery's used in 07-onwards will be ok for my bike? im not sure if their diff voltage diff ampage or diff connectors to the old battery. its currently got the old traditional battery in it

curently restoring a 1980 xs 250 and found there are alote off different models i keep being that xs250 never came out with disc brakes and only drum brakes but mine has disc brakes rear end but keep getting told it is not factory and is been modified but it is all factory any help or information would help
