There have been quite a few enquiries about decoding 9 digit Yamaha VIN #'s. My previous post works only with a 17 digit VIN #. This phone number works in Canada and the US. It conects the caller with a Customer Service Rep who will look up the #. 1-800-962-7926 I assume that if you phone Yamaha HO in the UK they will provide the same service to UK riders. Perhaps this number also works from the UK if you put the country code infront of the number. The correct country code w/b for the US. Good luck Rocky

Realised i had posted this in the wrong section I'm having serious problems with my little Gen'. After spending the last year SORN after the master cylinder went (and i acquired the speed triple ) I sent her off to a local fixer to get put right. During her time of inactivity some running problems occurred so I asked for this to be sorted aswell. I finally got her back this week sporting a new battery, new carbs, new jets, a request to remove my nice little race can as the setup required some back pressure and a clean bill of health. All was rosy in my world.....until i came to use her for the 3rd time and nothing. The starter motor was spinning nice and freely, t…

Hi Guys I have recently purchased an 82 550 Seca for my wife as a starter bike. The bike has 90,000kms on it and was parked for 2yrs. It would start and run ok for about 10-15 minutes and then seemed to flood itself out? I removed and cleaned the carbs, which were extremely bad by the way! Flushed out all old gas and filled with premium gas and installed new plugs. Now the bike is hard to start and the choke does not work at all. It seems to run ok but only for a few minutes and them seems as if it floods out and quits. The plugs do not get wet but it sounds as if it floods out. When this happens and it quits, it will not start again untill it cools down. I pulled the c…

Hello, I was wondering if someone could help me. I have just recently put my bike back together and there are two pipes coming out of the head which pour out water when I top it up. There are also two pipes on the carburetor which I have no idea where they go. Could someone please tell me where they go? The bike starts and runs fine without them, but I am worried that the water isn't flowing. Thanks, Toby Here are some pictures.

I have a 1978 xs750E, I need to change the Clutch push rod oil seal. I have the part ready to go. I have the Manuel for this bike. I just need to know if I have to remove the left side case cover, to get to this oil seal? It looks easy to do, but I don't want to go into the motor if I don't have to. Any help on this will be appreciated.

Hello, I have a yamaha jog 2010 with only 600km on clock. I have had a 70cc big bore kit put in, a new datona racing cdi(un restricted), new exhaust all installed with the aim to get it up to 70km/h(to keep up with trafic). All of which i have had no joy. It would do a maximum of 60km/h(tops). It had a lack of power. That is until the other day i got on and kick started it, as it was having trouble starting(cold morning). Once I got it going it flew, with heaps of acceleration and max speed of 70 to 80km/h. Loved it. This was what I expected with putting all the extra modifications on. It went really well for two trips and now it is back to no power and only g…

hi, im new to this forum and hope i could gain some knowledge from here. basically i have a yamaha aerox yq100, the bike runs fine but has a few of what I think are problems. -firstly the exhaust gets really hot where i can smell the heathish smell if you know what i mean ,when i turn the bike off the exhaust makes a ticking noise. -secondly, when the bike is off and i'm pushing it, it sometimes locks into gear so i cannot push it, is this normal? -thirdly, when i press the rear brake it makes a very irritating squeaky noise is there anything i can do to stop that, ive adjusted the rear drum brake but it has not helped. -last question is regarding the fr…

Hi all, I bought a 1993, 750 Virago on Saturday. Great bike! There is however one problem... The voltage regulator/rectifier seems to have given the ghost... Are there things I need to look at/ troubleshoot before I remove and replace? Advice appreciated. Regards Finch

hey guys, I've got a dt125lc mark 3 that's just not starting. I kick it over, and nothing happens at all - no misfire or ignition of any kind. I'm currently working on the theory that the issue is with the fuel not getting to the cylinder. Whenever I've kicked the engine over a few times, and then checked the spark plug after, the spark plug looks perfectly dry (there's a little moisture on the bottom end of the thread, but that looks like grease/oil) - is this normal? I would think that if enough fuel is getting to the chamber, and no ignition is taking place, then some of the petrol would condense onto the spark plug due to the compression - is that right? cheer…

Hiya, My Dad has had and fixed bikes for years. Recently got a Yamaha XMAX 250 (2010) and he got a puncture in the rear wheel. A random guy said he'd need special equipment (a hub puller or something like it) to get the rear wheel off to get it fixed. Can anyone say if this is the case or if the random was just being a tube? Any help would be appreciated Thanks guys, Sarah, Gordon's Daughter

sometimes you dont know, that you dont know.....then you fuck up....and now, you know.....lol 96 virago 250 still playing with carb to get a smooth run, getting closer and closer........ here's what my dumbass did today.... wasnt running as smooth as it has......pulled the plug that has been having some issues.....did it while the engine was hot.....didnt use a ratchet extender and the slight angle from the ratchet hitting the engine head was enough of an angle to fuck the threads up while taking the plug out..... to make it worse.....i was at a friends house 30 miles away with no way home....sooooooooooooooo.....yeah, i did it....put it back in...and of cour…
