Greetings all. I have an XVS1100 [99] here in the UK, I have had to put a new engine in as the old one died. The next problem I find is that when indicators are on the odometer and the N light blinks. Plus when the ignition is on, the starter cut off switch/fuel pump relay (In the head stock area) buzzes clicks and whines and I have replaced it 3 times. The fuel pump did fuse and short itself out last month and it has been replaced, the fuses are all intact The new pump is good and runs happily from a battery but plugged into the harness it doesnt get any voltage or current when the ignitions on. The battery is sound and cranks the engine over. Have…

Hi, I am new to this forum, but here goes. I have not started my bike for a couple of months. Now when I try, there is no spark and the yellow warning light flashes one long then two short. I have a good battery, it has been on charge. The starter spins well. It is the same if I try with the kick-start. Can anyone give me a clue where to start looking? Many thanks!

Hi guys, The time has come to do something about my exhaust. The header leaks like a sieve - rusted through! Wondering if any one knew the exhaust duration on a DT175A? Does anyone have a service manual for this model - perhaps it's in there? I've been reading Graham Bell's manual on two-stroke tuning and its proving to me an excellent resource, not just for exhausts but all kinds of topics. Going to try my hand at making my own tuned exhaust as per his suggestions. Going to be an underswept design like a maico:

hi newbie hear. I have a 1970 AT1 i got a few months ago the motor, frame, and title say its a AT1 mx but i noticed the cylinder says 175cc so i guess its a 125/175 anyway it starts when its cold runs for a few minutes then you have to keep reeving it to make it stay running then eventually it will die and its real hard to start. ive had the carb apart three times cleaned it put new parts in it, no luck the motor sounds normal doesn't smoke, it has no oil tank on it so i mixed the gas 32 to 1. i work on cars more than motorcycles so i don't know a hole lot about it. any advice would help, thanks

Hi guys, I've got an 82 seca400 and it's been sitting all winter with a fresh change of oil in it. So this spring i decided i would change it again, but when i got to the oil filter I got stuck. This is one of those models where the oil filter is up inside the engine and you just remove a cover to drop it out and replace it. When you insert it the oil filter sits down inside an aluminum housing, and then that housing, cupping the oil filter is slid into the block and the cover goes below that and holds it all in. Well the cover comes off fine, but the old oil filter, the spring, and the aluminum housing are all still stuck up inside. The bore on this cylinder it's in l…

Hi, This may sound dumb but being new to biking can someone explain what is meant by adjusting the freeplay in the cable to brake/clutch and throttle. I have read in the manual how to do it, but an not sure what exactly i am feeling for? Is it the slack in the feel of the cables before anything happens? I hope i am explaining myself properly. Thanks

Hey everyone, The 1996 XJ600S I just bought is leaking oil after going for a ride. First, I am a complete newb so please excuse my ignorance. The oil is coming from the seam right below the oil level window. I am not sure what it is. The engine is running fine and there is lots of power. The engine light is not going on. What could it be? What can I do? And, what tools do I need to do it?

So to get my bike started I had to sometimes give the starter solenoid (sp?) A little slap, so I replaced it. Now that I have replaced it I have to slap it EVERYTIME to get the bike running. On top of that when I kill the ignition on the bike for some reason the starter starts winding and trying to turn, even with the ignition off. And comments would be helpful...

im sure its an easy issue, but im a first timer with even less mechanical experience than riding experience.... ok...so ive been riding my 96 virago 250 that i bought a week ago, every night.....gotta have the choke on for a bit in the beginning, seems a lil slow to warm up, but eventually she gets on target.... so tonight, i get ready for my nightly trip to the parking lot to murder some u-turns and exciting friction zone education (i refuse to be that new guy who has no business in traffic yet refuses to practice basics)...and even on full choke i can barely get her to idle......if i turn the choke off, the bike shuts off....so even though that sounded off, i got …

Hi guys hope some of you can help. We've had this Scooter in the garage for about a year now since it stopped going a year ago. drained tank, new fuel, new starter motor, new iridium plug, totally cleaned carb and checked reed valves, fully charged battery but doesn't last a crack so used car battery. Bad idea it burned new starter out! Got it going and it sounded great, nice tickover, revving ok and left it running for about 5 mins then switched off. The shite has not went since! At this stage I'm about to kill it...... Checked the primary resistance on the coil and it is in spec. When u kick it the spark is very weak and sometimes non existent. You coul…

Hi all, I'm currently going through a step by step service of my recently aquired 2007 ybr 125 (the injection odel) with 19,000 on the clock. I suspect the previous owner didn't even know the word maintenance as the air filter was flooded with a rancid gunk that must have been there ages. A friend recommended that before I do an oil change, I put some in-fuel cleaner through the bike. I have a bottle of redex petrol injector fuel system cleaner which says dump the whole bottle in the tank but I assume this is a guide for cars not bikes. So I gues my queries are: 1/ Will Redex do any good for may bike, and if not, will it actually do any harm? Some posters on the net …
