Hello all, New to this site and i need some advice. I want to convert my T.ACE 1000 by using R1 seat unit but retain ace seat and i want to use braced R1 swingarm, preferably the inverted newer kind. Can this be done, would it take a lot of work/money and i want to do a good nice neat job. One last thing, has anyone used USD forks and rad cals on the Ace? What would this involve apart from more expense? Regards.......

Anyone know the Spec for the swingarm Bearing on the YZF750R (95) Model, need to replace mine as part of the rebuild but would rather not pay the £48 for a kit when you can buy direct from bearing suppliers for £12 a pair ish Cheers Andy

  3. "Hi I have a 1999 Yam XJ600n divvy, and sometimes it starts via the electric start, other than that I have to bump start it, so I thought the solenoid had gone and got a new one, when trying to start the bike tonight with the old sol' on it did nothing but made a clicking noise. so I put the new one on and....nothing not even a clicking sound, but, with either on i managed to bump start it. I have checked the fuses and all are ok, I have sprayed the electric start button with WD40 in the hope that that might help, still nothing. One thing i noticed though, the old solenoid only has one wire, coming from it, although it looks as though there were two at one point, the…

I wonder if anyone has come across this problem before? My bike was dropped by thieves (may well have been at a fast walking pace) onto it's left hand side. It stayed that way for 15minutes or so until the Police arrived and picked it up, pissing petrol down the road as it was. When I came home the following day I ripped the top yoke off and stripped the broken ignition lock down to get it so I could ride it. My brother and I cobbled it back together and the fuel pump and ignition circuits energised as it should do but I had no spark. I took off the tip over sensor and gave it a gentle rattle and the ball inside seems free - indeed while doing this the tacho reported …

  7. My rear brake caliper piston is super stuck in the caliper. It's sunk quite far in and without even a millimeter protruding to be able to pull it out. I know you can reconnect the brake cable and try to use the brake peddle to pop it out but it doesn't seem to work. I've heard about heating the caliper and not the piston and then trying to pump it out but this has not worked either! I've hear mention of using a foot pump but I cannot work out how to connect the pump to the caliper! Can anyone help??

Hi there, I'd like to start out by saying that I'm an apprentice engineer by trade, but am a lot more used to bikes without and engine! ( bike-trials ) Here goes, I recently purchased a Yamaha DT 125 LC mk1 bike in pretty horrid condition for the princely sum of £45. Im looking to get the bike up and running with the minimum of effort and cost, but still have a fairly reliable and powerful bike at the end of it. My budget is to bring the entire cost up to £100 ( so another £55 on parts ). The bike has been running around 3 years ago, and I did witness this. Since then the bike has been left outside with a tarp over it that seems to have kept at bay some o…

  10. I bought a Yamaha DT125R which was stolen/recovered but has no VIN number. I'm desperately trying to find out what year it is to order parts etc, and simply out of interest. Does anyone have any ideas?

  11. I have a DT125 R, approximately 1996 or there about (the bike is stolen recovered and has no vin number). I had to replace the piston/seals in my rear brake caliper. In the Haynes manual diagram it shows a shim between the piston and the actual break pads. The shim is shown in a similar shape to the pads. Either I did not have a shim in place before I disassembled the caliper, or my shim is a round metal washer type - as this is the only part I have not found a home for when replacing the rear wheel and break caliper etc. Can anyone tell me if a shim is required? If a shim is required, could my (aprox 3mm thick) round metal washer be it?! I have looked on the internet to …

  12. Hi All, I have just bought a 2003 v-star (Dragstar) 650 and it came with slash cut pipes. Is the lack of back pressure bad for the bike? I was thinking of a homemade job, for example: 1: DIY Baffle http://www.650ccnd.c....xhaust_mod.pdf 2: DIY Thumb screw mod http://www.nightride...ech/exhaust.htm I read somewhere that as a consequence, the bike may burn lean and eventually destroy the engine. Something to do with rejetting? Any comments are welcome.

Hello all, I have an 81 sr250 that I've run into some problems with, I recently replaced all the gaskets and o-rings in the engine to stop an oil leak which was successful and after doing all of that I rode it around town problem free for a couple hours and later on in the day the throttle would stop having any effect and the engine would cut out. After going through this a few times finally getting it back home I took the spark plug out to find out it wasn't getting any spark, I got a new flasher relay which didn't seem to solve the problem and now am waiting to recieve a new ignition coil, my question is if anyone knows what the problem could be if not the ignition coi…

Hey everyone im itching to get back to the UK and take my trusty rusty XJ out for a spin, but before i left i was having problems and id like to try and get to the bottom of it before i start thrashing it like a loonie again. at high speeds (80-100) for extended periods of time it would die, almost asif running lean, during this time if the throttle is closed and opened gradually the bike will recover and run normally up to about half/3-4 throttle, on the first incident it cut out and would not run right until i had left it to stand for about 2-3 minutes, after which it appeared to be fine (by this time i was riding through the town, not at speed). i also experia…

Just got a TW125 as a bad runner, it’s now packed up altogether because there was no spark. I replaced the CDI box and ignition coil because the pickup coil resistance (626 OHMS) check was OK, but still no spark? I pulled off the side engine cover to check the pickup coil only to find that it is magnetized. Is this right? It only gives out 0.16 volts when I turn the engine over (I thought it should give out 2-3 volts) a continuity test proves OK and there are no shorts to earth in the pickup coil, I cannot get hold of a coil to check whether its meant to be magnetized or not, or to test as a replacement, Help
