Hi I am new here and also new is my XV950R which I love, The only thing I have to complain about is the footpegs are not in a comfortable position. I know that Yamaha sells footpeg extensions but a) they cost about £320ish and secondly according to them it gives you 2.5" of stretch more. I was wondering if there are any XV950 or as they call it in states Yamaha Bolt owners who have made this modification? and what are there thoughts? Is it worth going for original yamaha extensions or there are better (tested) versions out there? I appreciate your replies and comments

Hi, I've got a 2005 Dt125 Re and it looses its spark randomly we've tried everything including coil, ecu, Stator, bypassing the ignition, checking wiring with multi meter amongst other things that I can't remember off the top of my head. Anyway when it does finally spark it will rev in the high rev range but as soon as I come off the throttle it dies. has anyone and ideas ? The starter motor is missing if thats anything to go by cheers

Hi guys. My little project has hit a problem. Yamaha sr125 wont start without a little choke even when warm. When it does start it revs fine but as soon as i pop the choke back in it dies. When its trying to start it does alot of popping and farting. Here is what ive looked at so far. Had a meter on the ignition coil, all good. Plug good. Stripped and checked the carb. Checked and reset valve timing. Done leak test on carb rubbers. Mixture good. Getting spark and fuel. Im now stumped. Any ideas lads and lasses greatly recieved. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk

I'm just confused about what exactly a service is. I thought it was just an oil, fluid, coolant change etc. My bike is fine I've done all the general maintenance myself (with help from my friend) but I want to take it to a Yamaha dealer for a service to get the warranty book stamped to give it a FSH. I've been quoted ridiculous money and I just can't justify paying it. It's more than doubled from the last time and I can't understand why. Even if they change the oil, air filter etc and give it the full works it can't COME TO £180! Am I missing something here? Since I got the bike through the whole stolen/recovered nightmare I've done some general ware and tear work on…

Hey all, I'm a new owner of an old Radian and need some advice. The carbs are gummed up kinda bad but the bike will run. I have to keep the choke open (around 1/2 to 3/4 open) for the bike to stay running. I'm guessing this is probably due to some fouled up jets or maybe a stuck float...however the weird problem is that I'll let the bike sit overnight and go to start it to work on it and oil just pours out of the air box. It makes me say "WTF" everytime it happens. I drained the oil and changed the filter and put new oil in...maybe that old 20w50 was stuck in there and I dumped some more on it and now it's all loosened up. Anyhow, has anyone else had this happen? I…

I would appreciate some advice as to how to remove the long bolt that holds the foot peg bracketry in place and stops me getting at the oil filter. 2008 model. I tried to remove it and the head sheared off. I have tried getting it hot ie going out for a quick spin and the hitting the bolt. I have tried WD40 but so far no success. Is there a clever way of removing this bolt that I do not know? I will say that Yamaha dropped one on this design imo. With such a long bolt it was always going to seize up especially due to its position on the bike and the amount of hot and cold drawing in moisture against steel and aluminium. I hope someone has the answer to this as i…

I am in need of advice on some problems I have been having with my RXS 100. Firstly It,s a 6VOLT system, which I am told is a bit more problematic than 12volt system,But its my first bike and It a good one bike to start with. The problems I have been having are this: Indicators do not work properly. I have bought new bulbs and fitted them and no difference. I checked the earth wires for faults and found that two earth wires under the seat that both wires had no tips on them for a proper connection (exposed wire ends). I will get tips tomorrow and try again. …

I need to tear down the carbs on a virago 535 that was in storage for 6 years. What is the safest way to clean the carb bodies after they are tore down, but the butterfly valve rubber doesn't get damaged?

In short ( I have posted regarding this bike XJ 600 before - somewhere on the forum ) Anyway, before shelling out for a new ECU/EMU, would it be possible to 'hot wire' the bike as I've got no spark? Of course, if I can get a spark then I'll be confident in buying a new ECU/EMU. The original ECU was left (as was the Carbs etc in a box that filled up with water!!!) from the bloke that I bought it off I must add looooooollllllllllll. I'm beginning to think that this bike might cost me more than I paid for it £100 - having found out recently that there's a big hole on the swinging arm - exhaust side (Is this a common fault?) but I'm quite handy with an arc welder so that d…

I am the proud owner of an 1867 Yamaha FZX 750. Recently I did run is a small issue I cannot seen to get rid of, ore fix. My Head light went out. It just happen when I turned on the ignition, light went on but the moment I started the engine, light went out, and is not coming back on. First I thought it was a bad connection, as some time it comes back on for a short time, but all connections are good, so is the Bulb! The rear light and indicators are still working, also the instrument lights on the tank are working fine. Just the Head light and instrument lights (speedo and rev counter) are out. The only one thing I can come up …

Hi all, I'm in need of a front fender for a 650 Classic, but the standard fender just isn't what I'm looking for. Ideally, something similar to the smaller fender that came as standard with the Custom would be better suited. I know blue collar have a front fender on offer, which would be ideal, but comes at quite the cost. Do any of you know of any alternatives on the market, or of any other OEM fenders that might fit the classic forks? Thanks in advance! Jon

I have heard a weak point on these bikes is the rocker arm wears prematurely causing wear on the camshaft as well. This can cause bike to miss as exhaust valve not operating properly...which is what I`m experiencing. The engine is out and will take a look but can anyone offer advice on this fix..has anyone encountered same problem? The cost to replace these items must be horrendous.
