Hi guys, I own and ride a Yammy YBR125 Custom 58 reg, A few months ago I had a new chain and sproket fitted costing me a hefty £160 from a Yamaha Dealer. I lubricated it as often as i thought needed(Usually on a weekly basis) and took it in to get the chain tention done when needed. But allready a few months down the line it needs doing again... A few days ago I took it in to get the chain adjusted and the service manager said he has done what he can but it is now at the maximum adjustment point so you will need a new chain and sproket, Also there is (And I dont remember this exactly so it is a vague explenation) something that moves to much that shouldnt move as much…

  5. yeterday i replaced the cylinder and cylinder head gaskets following the workshop manual all went well and every thing went back together fine. started her up and she ran on half choke fine until warm then sat on tick over for about 4-5mins with no problems at all so i turned her off and put the side panels back on. tried starting her again but she would only start on full choke and then splutter to a stop checked all ground cables are secure, got plenty of fuel, got a spark, airbox and tubes are clean and clear. tried to start her again this morning and she wont start at all not even on full choke. any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

hi all iv just got a hold of an 1982 yamaha XT 550 as a project the main problem that i have is tail light/brake light. when the headlight is switched off the tail/brake light works fine, only lights up when the brake is pressed. but when the headlight switched on the tail/brake light will not work in any way, not to light up the number plate or as a brake light even when the brake is pressed. this is the one major thing stopping me from getting the bike road legal. can anyone help me ??

Hey guys, Bought an '01 XV 125 about 8 months ago, my first bike. It seemed to be in fantastic condition when I bought it (had my father look at it before I bought it who's been biking for 35+ years) but since I started using it everyday, it's had one issue after another. The latest occurred last night on my way home from work. It lost all power then cut out got it home in a van and had a look at the fuel supply, pump and tank. No problems at all there (had the father help, who's always done all his own maintenance) when firing it up now, the rear cylinder fires but the front has no compression what so ever so the front cylinder needs to come apart. This is where the…

  11. Posted this in the New Members forum but re-posted it here as I was advised too! Hey Guys Names Tom, got my first ever motorbike today! I wanted something to run around in once I finish my degree. I managed to find an SR125 1993 for £350. Needs some work doing on it such as the front lights. I went to see the bike last Sunday and the guy started it up for me ran fine and everything. However, when it's put into gear it cuts out - he said it was because the electrics are not properly connected (made sense to me BUT is this true?). So anyway, got it home today and it didn't start. It's pretty cold so I thought it could be because I wasn't using the choke. So, I pull…

  12. This should be of interest to all you V-twin owners out there. I bought my draggie 650 back in August, and there have been no problems (apart from a snapped speed cable), even after installing new pipes and rejetting. However, as the weather started getting a bit chilly, cold starting the engine started to worry me a bit. The engine is noisier right after cold startup, I would imagine because the oil hasn't had time to fully lubricate the engine yet. The usual ticking of the tappetts was more like a clack with the engine cold, and it was several minutes before the noise settled back down to a ticking. So I started reading up on motorcycle engine oils. I read some…

hi, i'm a complete novice, just passed my bike test and bought a diversion xj600s. ive only had the bike a couple of weeks and in the last few days it has started leaking oil from a pipe that seems to run from the front of the petrol tank to the back, the oil appears a bit milky at the point where it comes out but ive put a newspaper down to stop it spreading on the garage floor and it looks normal on the paper. can anyone tell me what this pipe is and why it might be leaking? i think the small clip on it maybe isnt tight enough but if i put something tighter on it will that just be masking the fault?

I'm looking for some engine parts for my 95 SR250 (3Y9 engine). Can't find any specfic info on part nos, plenty of info on the early 80's bikes especially the 249cc (3Y6?). It's mainly top end parts, does any one know whether the 80's 239cc (3Y8?) engine top end is the same as the 93-96 top end?? Seem to be some secondhand bits around from early 80's bikes but don't know if they would be compatible, any help appreciated!

My 1989 FZR 600 refuses to start when the temperature is below double figures. I've replaced the coils/HT leads, the original plug caps for lower resistance NGK ones, new NGK spark plugs and new battery. I've had the carbs off and given them a clean (but not replaced the jets or floats etc as carb set up strikes me as black magic!!) After some time cranking on the starter it tries to run but never seems to catch. I don't use the choke as it seems to make it worse. Once it is going and warms up it is fine and runs well. On a warmer day it will start 9 times out of 10 on the first try. Any ideas appreciated. Dave

I have an aerox yq100 that I am currently restoring and the idle is currently uite erratic, so I sprayed WD-40 around the Intake manifold that links the carb to the reed and it started to surge, I removed the old manifold and sure enough there was a split. The only issue is that I am having trouble finding the yq100 carb manifold and the ones that I have seen have been really expensive, Im just wondering if there is any differance between the yq100 manifold and the one of the yq50? the yq50 ones are much easier to find and even the performance replacements are much cheaper than the yq100 manifold! Any help would be much appreciated! Many thanks!

I have a 2003 XT600E, and covered 30,000 relatively trouble free miles. Recently I have noticed an oil leak coming from around the starter motor area. You can actaully see it running down from under the starter on the back of the left hand crank case. Is there an oil seal or gasket that could be leaking between the starter and the crank case? I haven't stripped anything down yet, I thought I'd ask some advice first!!
