So the bike is in the garage again. Now it's the front wheel bearings, front brake pads, fork seal (1 but getting both done at same time) and the electrics are getting sorted as they are fooked. After this the bike will be sound for ages. I've spent some right money on my Xt now, it's getting fucking ridiculous.

I've been reading that a lot of people just pre-mix their 2T oil and fuel beacause the auto mix reservoir or whatever they are called are crap. I s this just a problem on a specific make of bike, or is it wide spread? Now that I am aware of this I think I will be self mixing, it's just not worth the risk of your engine seizing because their is not enough oil going through.

Hello, So I picked up my 03 xv125 yesterday it's really clean with only 6k miles on it, it's been laid up for a year in a garage yesterday I fitted plugs and new oil ;-) - I'm learning lol, I'm finding it really hard to get it in to neutral I've adjusted the leaver on the top by the grip to its max but still no go, it's like it's not pulling the clutch hard anuff - now on the bottom part of the cable by the side of the engine the adjuster there looks to be all the way in!!? Should I adjust it here or does it sound like a new clutch is needed, the rest of the gear changes are fine - hope I've explained my self correctly here as I'm a bit of a newbi with bikes :-) T…

First of all I would like to say greetings from canada. I never knew there was a yamaha owners site. This is kinda cool. Anyway My CY50J is giving me grief and I don't know what to do. It will ride fine and then I will hit a hill and she literally will power down to nothing. When I back off the throttle more then half way and back up again a couple times it will be able to pull me up the hill but only if I don't use full throttle. Once it happens it will continue to do the same thing even on even road once it has happened from climbing. The bike starts fantastic!! First try every time. Bike has 2300 Km's on it. I got it last year and it had 169km original on it.…

hi, just purchased this bike as my first big one. The owners manual provides a nice flowchart that would suggest that the oil light indicator will come on after starting the engine, but not before. then electricals and oil levels are ok and it is safe to ride on... The oil level is ok at rest, on the main stand etc... but the oil light takes a minute or two to come on after starting the vehicle. Is this then normal to ride around with the oil level indicator light lit on all the time? Cheers

looks like i need to paint both of these on my bike as the paint is starting to come off and rust is setting in (surface rust, well atm anyways). The whole bike needs a tidy up to be honest and these look like the place to start! What i would like to know is does anyone know of a paint they can personally recommend for this job? I have seen some cheap-ish exhaust paint on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150737692824?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321022542716?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 do you think this will do? ^ It will definitely need to be heat resistant as both of the…

Hi so i have been planning to change the colour of my red yamaha xt125x 07 to blue. So far i have changed the seat covers. Bought a new set of stickers. sanded, primed, colored then lacquered the fairings. Everything looks good apart from one big nasty issue. Its purple instead of yamaha blue. Anyone able to point me in the right direction of the correct colour spray can. Also should i be laying a white base coat down? would spraying a blue colour onto the original red be the problem. this is the colour spray paint i purchased that came out purple. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Apico-Fast-Finish-Acrylic-YZ-Blue-Paint-400ml-Motocross-Enduro-Yamaha-YZ-125-98-/17099…

ok peeps after some ideas. One of the main bearings stubbonly wont come off. Tried hot and cold. Trouble being i think the crank expands with the bearing so keeping it tight. You cant get the heat in the bearing without heating the crank. I have been messing with it for a couple of days now. Its stopping me and pissing me off so i need some ideas.

Basicly, my rings went on my Yamaha DTR 125 , took to my local Yamaha dealer and had new piston rings etc put in at a cost. I picked up my bike, noticing it has changed a lot in sound very quiet, and was riding a considerable amount worse, the bike seemed very powerless compared to before I could hear the power band roaring, and now it seems although there is no power, maybe because its quieter and I cannot hear it I don't know. But now I thought when replacing piston and rings, the bike would run and sound a hell of a lot better, and possibly faster. ( Bare in mind I do know I should be wearing it in but still, the bike shouldn't run and sound worse?) Should it, correct m…

So I'm re building the calipers on my DTR project. They were in a bit of a state. I'm a tad confused about which seal kits to get. The front had a piston seal and a dust seal which was held in place by a circlip. The rear caliperhad a piston seal but the dust seal appeared to have no circlip and was damaged badly. According to a Yamaha Parts diagram, neither have a circlip holding in the dust seal an just have 2 similar looking seals. Ebay says otherwise with kits being sold for both which have an piston seal, dust seal and circlip. Anyone got any advice on what to go for? Andy

Has anyone ever converted early XJ (51J) electrics into the later type? I've got a late engine with 2-wire pick-up coil and a brushless 4-wire alternator in an early frame which is wired for a three cable pick-up coil and a brush type, 6-wire alternator. Anyone know which wires go where or is this a hopeless enterprise? Any help appreciated.

Hi, I'm new on here and I hope someone can help me. I've just installed a 51J Xj600 engine into an FJ600 frame, without mechanical difficulty. However, I've hit a couple of snags with the electrical system: a) The regulator/rectifier on the FJ frame is the finned, six wire type. The wiring from the XJ600 engine has only four cables, so I assume is the later 47X (I've learnt from posts on here!) regulator/rectifier. Can I marry the two? If so, what do I do with the spare brown and green leads in the FJ harness? b] The XJ engine has a two-pin plug carrying white-red-stripe and white-blue-stripe cables which would (from the wiring diagrsam) appear to come f…

My boy came in from college today and asked me to have a look at his bike. I had told him to make sure he checks his oil, and on doing so saw no oil showing on the sight glass. I had a look and sure enough no oil. Strange, thinks I, as the guy we bought it from had just done a resto job and gave me a list of receipts including oil and filter. Anyway I dug out the manual and showed him how to drain the oil (not expecting much to come out), but a full quota of oil poured out, looking clean as well. He then filled it up with new oil using 2.6l as recommended, but still nowt shows on the sight glass. Before I pull it apart, who's familar with these engines and if I just rem…
