  5. In my short time riding, I wish I'd known about the wisdom of avoiding false economies and finding out if what you're getting really suits what you need it for. So the jacket at £50 might seem a bargain, but if it's like wearing a bin bag in the heat and tissue in the cold and wet, pay more for something good. Also, the cheap lid is OK 'til you realise you could have spent a little extra and got pins on the visor for pinlock and avoided misting up in the rain. (Still not sure whether this ratchet wrench set from Aldi will fall in to the 'buy cheap, buy twice' category - https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/specialbuys/thursday-specialbuys-15th-august/product-detail/ps/p/5-piece-r…

Right. Now i have my new chain had a bit of a look at it. Comes with one of those link pin/link things. Now its been a l o n g time since I replaced a chain. Thinking I may need to break the chain to get it off the XJ600. Then fix this new chain with link properly. Now I wondering what is the best tools for the job. New link is easy. Just put the wee washers on properly & use long nose pliers to clip link in securely ( in proper direction etc) But the old chain. haven't looked to see if its continuous or not but IF it is what would you recommend as the best proper tool for breaking/joining for long term ? ( Future bikes may have continuous cha…

Well had my new 2 me 1985 Yamaha XS 250 for 4 weeks now almost 1000 miles later and here is the good and the bad form my perspective. Bad. Brakes, stop stooooooop stooooooooooooooooooooooooop, forgot just how hard you have to pull on 80s single disk brake to make an impact on slowing down. Not really a problem just something you have to get re-used to a few near misses and your there. Oil leak from final drive shaft, not a bad one haven’t needed to top op oil yet and don’t expect to before oil change. Actually a double edge sword. It is working as a very effective inbuilt Scot oiler; the drip runs down drive sprocket and lubricates the chain lovely. Problem is it …

Starting up motocross next year, im going to be 15 years old! So ill be old enough to enter a 250cc class I've never rode motocross, but I've got quite a good feel for bikes as ive riden for 9 years through woods, fields and trials, I currentley have a dt 125, as people have told me i should get a 250cc to start on with motocross because ive already got a 125 (I know there's a big difference between a dt and a yz) Im fairly tall like 5 foot 10, im 11 stone, so would a 250 be a good bike to start on? Or a 125? Im sensible on bikes im not crazy! Your opinion on what cc I've i should get?

  17. Never got that thundercat - long story short, the gearbox was knackered, and it was crashdamaged. got a insurance quote for a XJ6-N, 370 quid fully comp.. going to glasgow to see it tomorrow! but i kinda want to wait till the MT-09 is out. . . .

  18. Started by welshwan,

I have spent a couple of months hunting for a bike to replace my XT125X, i needed something with off-road capability and preferably something that had a supermoto model of the same bike (less of a headache to try and sort out a Sumo conversion) Also needed more ommph then the 125, anything 250 and up really. I tried to arrange to view a '99 Honda xr250, but couldn't make a viewing before end of auction- so missed that one. After looking for a good couple of months i managed to find a bike for the 'right price', plenty of power, tons of ground clearance, maybe a bit tall- but then again most of these enduro bikes are. So i went to see a bike and after a lo…

This is how I made a GPS mount for my SYM Citycom. This may help others with scoots with a bag hook. I mounted half of a GPS mount to the bag hook of my scoot. these are the parts:1.) half of the GPS mount2.) two home made rubber washers for friction between the GPS mount and the U-bracket.3.) two washers to go under U-bracket4.) home made U-bracket5.) bolt to screw GPS mount to U-bracket this is how the U-bracket mount with the two washers underneath. I used the factory bolt to do it. everything mounted with the mount in the everyday ride "out of the way" position GPS mounted with a hair band (what ladies use to make a pony tail in their hair) for safety.
