  1. Hi, I'm new to this forum. Just got my Yamaha DT125 R 1999. I have a little problem with it, it runs fine at low revs but as soon as it gets to around 6000 revs it bogs out, also as soon as the throttle is opened fully it does exactly the same. It's not a restriction as the amount of revs it bogs at changes every time. Thought it was a dirty carb but its not that as had it all cleaned up and didn't stop the bogginess. Been told it could be my coil so I've brought a new coil. Any other ideas on what it could be?

This is the second time my dragstar has done this, cranks over fine but no spark, I checked everything, and I mean, "EVERYTHING"...... except the ignition switch, I assumed because it was cranking over then the switch had to be OK. I was talking to a guy who has the same bike the other night at a bike meet, he said that he had the same trouble, but if he turned the key back ever so slightly while cranking it over it would start. So next day I took the switch apart and sure enough the wiper had been dragging plastic on to the copper contact and plastic is not a good conductor, so, cleaned the tracks up with 2000 wet and dry and no more bad starting, and I guess thi…

  6. Hi , I'm logging in to help a friend who has bought a bike here in Ireland and doesn't know the model name, he can't get insurance without it and apparently it was imported from the us in 1997. I don't have a pic but am going to look at it tomorrow. It says its a Yamaha custom on the tank and its a 750, he recons it's a four pot inline and arranged from left to right while sitting on the bike.ITs a single seat and built/sold org in 1988... Straight bars and a fat rear tyre with a tight fitting mudguard. I know this may be a home made special but he's hoping its a prod bike for insurance reasons... Anyone know what model it may be by my hazy description....

Ive just bought a yamaha dt 125r sm as a little project, its previously had both top and bottom end rebuilds. The previous owner admitted he spanked it everywhere and has cooked the engine. The bore is fine as is the piston, theres alot of oil in the radiator but the thing thats confused me is it seems theres 4 stroke in the head, any ideas?

Decided lately that I wanted some short levers for my FZ6, the stock ones looked a bit dull! But I didnt want to spend £80 per lever on ASV ones so I thought I would try some cheap levers from eBay. My first worry about them were that they may fail in operation, but having checked many many forum reviews and despite all the worry stories, I didnt find a case where cheap levers have failed under normal use.. So I bit the bullet and I bought these, short, black version: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350648816847 Despite having to wait 4 weeks for them they have finally arrived and I have fitted them onto the bike. First thing I did was inspected the lever build, quality…

My bike has to live outside at night and I rusted my old YBR by always putting a cover over it as soon as I got home. With my nice new XJ6F I'm allowing it to cool off first (which in the recent warm weather has taken more than an hour). Anyway tonight it's raining so the bike is wet, I've let the bike cool off and have put the cover on (an Oxford Stormex). Tomorrow I don't need to use the bike and it is going to be raining for some of the day. So should I take the cover off as soon as it's daylight to let it dry/get more wet and hopefully dry again i.e. give it more air...or should it be okay slowly drying under the cover? Thanks in anticipation of …

  18. Hi, I am new to biking and just bought my first bike a Yamaha SR 125 1993 model. It was a bit dirty with a bit of rust but it has scrubbed up really well and I am happy with it. Anyway, I have a couple of questions which I hope someone can answer please. I was starting it up today when I noticed the fuel reserve on the bike was 'on'. Should this be switched to 'off'? I assume so but want to check. What happens if you ride with the reserve on? The tank is about 3/4 full at the moment. Another thing. The bike has a crack on the front around where the front head light is. It's not a real problem just cosmetic, but is it possible to buy a new piece for this, I would like …

  19. Just sitting there waiting for lights to change, feels slightly awkward at times lol. I don't usually go down to neutral so my left hand is always holding the clutch in. My right hand is also usually on the handle bar but it's free to move around and sometimes I pretend to check my pockets - even though I know they are closed . Maybe test my glove fitting and majority of the time I'd be looking around, having a sneaky peak into the vehicle(s) next to me. What do you riders do ?
