Ok I have just got back from a trip down to Portsmouth, about 230 miles, and it normally takes about 3/4 of a tank there and back it's mostly motorway and dual carriageway so average speed is around 75/85, the bike is 30+ years old so not thrashing it, anyway yesterday it used 1 1/2 tanks of fuel which is way over the normal amount I have checked for leaks and split hoses (nothing) even looked in the engine oil to see if it might have drained down into the engine sump but no extra fluid in there or smell of petrol, so my question is were did it all go? I have cleaned the carbs in the winter and balanced them checked all the jets were ok & flushed the tank filter, ig…

Where would be the best place to post a thread about making up special form screws made in stainless, (you know the sort of thing, changed all the corroded fasteners on the bike and there are a couple of annoying ones with big heads, shoulders or weird threads!) all i would need is a sample part to see if viable to make? Cheers machineshed!

recently purchased a DT125 RE 2006 for £1300, which i thought wasn't bad with 12000 and only unrestricted since 10000, reliable etc etc etc Anyway spoke to a mate of mine who rides bikes, he said, never sell it, even if you dont ride it, keep it as they are only going to go up in price because they dont make 2 stroke's anymore. That true?? And why have they stopped making 2 strokes?? Did a bit of reading up, and people were saying emissions, surely that cant be true??? all the shite that China and India pump out and they stopped making 2 strokes because of their emissions??? We could literally turn EVERYTHING off in this country and it wouldnt make any neg…

For my first 3 years of riding I never wore ear plugs, didn't like cutting out noise of traffic as I liked to have all my senses working. I then read a study in one of the Bike mags about damage to hearing, some study showed that the vibrations caused from the wind over your helmet at motorway speeds cause a level of noise that can potentially do permanent damage if you are exposed to it regularly. Worst case is you can end up with tinnitus, a permanent wining in your hearing that cause cause sleep deprivation / depression etc. Anyhow got me thinking, my ears do whine after my 30minute motorway commute to work, so I tried plugs. Was very strange at first, but now i fi…

Hi Guys Have bought a DT 125 MX, on checking numbers etc., have found it, it was originally a 175, so restored back to 175 now. It was an ex forestry commission bike so was never registered. On speaking to the DVLC they say need year confirmed of bike etc., so can register it and get a number plate, so then can get it on the road. It is a great condition bike so would be a waste to just use of road, Can anyone recommend someone who could look at the bike and confirm the year etc., So can get road biking 1 thanks andrea

I went to see it today and for a 10 year old bike, it was in pretty good shape. However, I have a few questions about road legality. It comes with front/rear lights, a horn and an odometer. Which is in the list of requirements to make a bike road legal. 1) The bike does not come with a speedometer. It's not required to pass an MOT but you must have one to be road legal. I read that cheap push-bike speedometers are acceptable, any truth in this? Also, any recommendations for cheap speedometers? 2) It has one of those small flexible number plates fitted. I think it might be a 6 x 4, not too sure. Would this still be illegal on the road for an enduro? I saw a vid…

Hi All. I was wondering if anyone could help me: I am looking to purchase an SRX 400 (electric start version) for my wife to do her A2 training on. The reason for this is because it is so small and she can manage it relatively easily where the school bikes are all way too large for her. It is 398CC which is fine but it needs to be a minimum of 33BHP to qualify under the new A2 rules for her to do her test on it. Does anyone have any information on the official BHP / KW output of this bike please? I have googled it to death and cant find any solid information. Much appreciated.
