    Hello, I just bought a yamaha diversion xj600 1992. I have the following problem (or not!). There is a slight kicking sound when I start the engine. I googled that and I found that two cylinders might not work. Also, and that might be related, at low rpm (2-3000), the engine power has some fluctuations... Other than that it runs well. How can I find out if there is indeed a problem? how bad is to ride it like that? and is that a hard and expensive thing to fix? Thank you

    I want to buy a accurate tyre pressure gauge, ideally one that has a 90 degree head to enable easy access to valve especially on the front of my twin disc machine. I have bought several over the years but would like a quality accurate good one, any suggestions ??? Cheers

  4. I bought some fork seals around six months ago, their here somewhere but can't find them & looking for them I found things I had, I didn't know I had and have bought again. I've had to reorder more fork seals, bet they'll turn up once the new ones arrive. I think i'll have to start an inventory, must be my age as I always used to know what I had & where it was or maybe I just need to stop buying stuff until I really need it.

  5. Hi Guys, Can anyone give me a few ideas, l would be grateful. I got a Yamaha Diversion P reg xj600s thats not starting, My problems started the last time l was riding it home from work. It started up fine and l allowed it to warm up before riding it, when l got near to home, the bike just lossed power, l tryed to rev it as it was still going along but it still died. I Parked the bike ,on the side of the road with drivers going passed laughing, I looked inside the tank to make sure l had fuel which was about half a tank (did try res aswell). Tryed to restart it until battery died, thought to try to bump start it by going up a hill near by (pushing it up hill was no fun wi…

  7. I've always wanted to do one but I wasn't sure if it was worth the cost. I'm not doing it because of the "possible" reduction to the the insurance premium but to better my riding skills I guess. It's apparent that's not always the case since I did Pass Plus for driving and there was no reduction to the premium with it (even though the insurance company has stated that they do). Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) caught my attention and they do a course, test and one years membership for £139. The only worry now is that I'm still riding around on the XT 125 X which struggles to obtain 70mph on the motorway. So I might just have to wait until I move up because I thin…

    I'm nearly finished rebuilding my XS850 set in a 750 frame. I didn't touch the clutch outside of removing the cable, as it worked perfectly with full travel and play when I bought the bike and I had made no change to the mechanical pin adjustment. Problem is, cable routed and re-attached, I can't get the clutch to disengage. I did pull the motor, left it wet and upright during the frame off resto (3 months), and did have it lying on it's left side on a garage rug for roughly an hour as I slipped the frame back over and mounted it back up. The cable has full travel. I have played with both the motor and lever linkage adjustments as well as the mechanical adjustment (b…

    First post on the forum having had a good look around! Right I know you can't really add any more power to a ybr but I've been doing my best to make it perform better. I've read about the Egr valve on the side that comes out of the exhaust. From what I've read it sends exhaust gases back into the airbox to help with emissions. But after having a look myself if seems the exhaust does blow into the pipe work but when it reaches a one way valve next to the airbox its turned into sucking!? So does it actually help draw air into the box and Not hamper the intake like I've read?!?!?? PIC}

    I have some good news folks, and a massive relief - I FOUND ANOTHER JOB!! So tonight is a celebration, and I'm hoping for the rest of this week I can get away somewhere on my bike as a celebration - still need to iron out the kinks there... But aside from that, I'm so relieved that I found another job so soon after my redundancy. When I was offer the safety of another job (albeit in Cirencester), and I chose the risk of becoming jobless, it's sure paid off! On the plus side it's a promotion, larger company and more money. The downside is that we'll be leaving Glossop and moving back down South, as I'll once again be working in the big smoke... Never mind. Assuming…

    Hi, I have purchased 5 new rear disc bolts for my XJ6s and I would like to know the tightening torque also whether I should use threadlock on them ? Another less important thing I would like an opinion on is the round gear shift rubber which I have also purchased, it is genuine Yamaha and I notice one end of the hole is chamfered and the other is square, which way round should it be fitted on the metal lever ? Hopefully someone has the answers ! Lincol

    I have a sr250 custom bobber, I've cleaned the carb multiple times, still doesn't help much. It will crank and idle, was only running only on half choke, it will idle and ride now with choke off but still wants to spit back through the carb and backfire, also wants to shut off sometimes at stops. How can I fix this?

  20. Just after a bit of advice, Just picked up a Yamaha 1100 dragstar, its pretty standard apart from the exhaust and lots of chrome. It seems to be running fine, its a 2005 with only 12k on the clocks. . . . one owner since new. when I crack the throttle open in a low gear, the engine note seems to change and the clutch appears to slip a little, the speedo rises, but after a few seconds of the bike roaring, the engine noise will subside and it will start to accelerate a little more aggressive than usual. standard test - like put the bike in top gear when rolling at 5mph doesn't seem to make it any worse or better, it still seems to slip and hesitate before pulling …
