Or would any dot 4 be ok? Sorry if that sounds stupid in anyway I have done a quick search & nothing came up. Shaun

  2. Teammate Jorge Lorenzo experienced his second Grand Prix weekend to forget today, making a jump start at the beginning of the race and receiving a ride-through penalty as a result. He pitted immediately at the end of the opening lap and re-joined at the back of the field in 23rd. The four-time world champion then showed his dedication and professionalism, working hard to move back through the pack to earn his first championship points of the season. As he crossed the finish line he did so in tenth position, less than four seconds from Rossi in eighth. The eighth place finish gains Rossi a further eight points to give a total of 28, dropping him to third on the overal…

  4. My Yamaha (shaft drive) seems to have a strange problem that I noticed the other day, up til about 30 - 40 mph when i pull in the clutch i can feel this "dit-dit-dit" bumpiness the i THINK is coming from the front but resonates throughout the entire bike. It is very slight but so irritating, I took it to one garage they said it's fine, then another who removed the front wheel, re-did the inner tube alignment and added a weight to it .. but it's still there. I thought it may be the engine, so I turned the bike off and went down a hill in neutral, still there clear as day, I have removed the front fender, the tool roll and nothing rubbing against the wheel. I think the bump…

Hello everyone, need abit of advice on where to get a decent plate made up, this may sound silly but I have ordered 2 off eBay and both are shocking quality. I'm unsure weather to go for 8x6 or the standard size (so far have ordered standard sizes) but fancy a smaller one now, what are the chances of being stopped & in your honest opinion is it worth the risk?? Would a slogan on the bottom also cause any issue's? Nothing crude but I know technically not meant to have them. Cheers for any help guys & gals Shaun

Had the pleasure to meet the new Yamaha SR400 today. We had a photo shoot for a UK bike mag who wanted to compare The New Yamaha SR400 2014 model with a 1980 SR500 at the Speed Shop. The new 400 is so tractable in traffic, the fuel injection runs sweet. But its an extreme complication to the single cylinder format in my humble opinion.. My observation was that although everyone loved the new SR400 and they complained about the 1980's SR500 brakes and how it felt like an old bike........the old 500 was the one that was ridden many more times then the new 2014 bike and came back with bigger smiles. Draw your own conclusions! This is Kate, the lady that makes most of …

Hi Does anybody know the paint code for my 1979 DT175? The bikes been painted black, but I want to return it to its original blue. I've found lists of Yamaha paint codes, but I don't know which blue is correct for the bike. I've been told that this colour was only used for the 1979 bikes, not sure if that's true. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi peeps, In my quest for knowledge regarding my recently restored DT50MX, i'm now trying to contact the previous owner and find out a bit more about the bikes history and how it came to be. The only details are that the previous owner was 'Mrs Jillian Jones' from Manchester House in Tavernspite, Pembrokeshire who became the owner of my DT in 1999 (a year after the last tax disc expired so this was probably the point where it became a field bike), after a quick search it seems that she is no longer a resident at that address and the new resident does not have a forwarding address and has been at the address since 2011 (which narrows my search window down to a period of…

Hi guys, Does anyone know the specific alloy that the coolant inlet cover off the Yamaha R6 is? (It's this one being sold on ebay: http://tinyurl.com/qzxdenu By the looks of it, it has been high pressure die cast but I can't find the specific material anywhere. I want to know because I'm trying to find out whether you can weld Al 6063 directly on to this. Any help will be kindly appreciated! Thanks

Hi All I am considering getting an FJR1300 to replace my XJ900 diversion and although some test rides are planned I would like the feedback and advice from any current FJR1300 riders. I know the FJR has brilliant write ups but the following are things in my mind. 1. Gears - The XJ900 has 5 gears and I always feel when doing touring, motorways or distance it just needs a 6th to drop the rev's a little at motorway speeds. Is this the case with the FJR1300 or is the gearing a lot better. 2 - Parts pricing - The parts for a XJ900 are readily available and fairly cheap, The FJR1300 being a lot newer, more advanced, is there point i should check really carefully when …

Will someone help me? Ive installed a full leo vince gp pro system on my bike and since that it was running horrible and lumpy, lost about 20mph of the top speed, barley getting 100 miles out of a tank, i recently put a power commander v in hoping that this will help everything when it hasn't, it has only given me a few more miles and the speed remains the same. Can someone please help! Thank you

  15. OK boys, girls, kings, queens and all in-betweens.... I have FINALLY managed to get the 650 Dragstar down to most of the basic component parts, enough that I can start polishing and painting frames, sub-frames and all that. The question is what to do with it... It's originally the standard black & chrome colours of 2001: It's a sorely used & all-weather-abused bike with almost 50k on the clock, and will be up for sale as the SWMBO owner really wants a Hornet-like bike. While checking sale values, I saw this: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201307047645719/sort/pricedesc/usedbikes/cc-to/700cc/cc-from/600cc/model/xvs/make/yamaha/page/1/…

Hello, I am currently stationed in Okinawa Japan and i bought a Yamaha SRV250. I got it for a helluva steal. only $750! Anyway, it has some serious carburetor issues and i need to rebuild them. the only problem is i can't find carb parts for it anywhere!! From what i've read the carbs are not the same as its Virago brother being that the Virago only has one horizontal carb and the SRV has two vertical carbs. Anyway, if anyone knows where i can get carb parts for it or if there are any identical carbs i can use parts from please let me know so i can get this thing up and running! Also, the guy i bought it from said that it was a 1981, however, from what i've read t…

hey everyone, Have not been online for a while been busy at work & trying to get the bike clean in areas that have been left to build up a mass amount of grease... anyway after spending what seems like an eternity wiping excess grease/chain lube from around the chain runner/front sprocket/all areas near there with a tooth brush (not my current morning use brush) & some gunk, I took a step back admired what was now looking clean & with it being a warm sunday got it out for a quick blast. got back and had another look at the front of the engine just behind the exhaust & OH MY DAYS! looks like it has got all 11,000 miles of dirt...grit & crap off …
