After spending all of last night rebuilding it, and all of this morning bolting everything else back on I filled it with some cheap 10w40 and fired it up. Now it's making a taping noise, think of the sound a valve makes when it's out of adjustment. It's like that sound, coming from the cylinder/bottom end, and it makes it only on the power stroke. I don't have the slightest idea, anyone else have a clue?

Hi guys, My 125 Virago is going to garage for service tomorrow but would like some advice so I have a rough idea what to expect, basically The front cylinder runs fine but rear one doesn't at all, so I swapped the leads round and now neither starts, anyone know what would be the problem, it's been Sat around for 4 months

Hi Guys This a fairly long 31min video of our ride out on Sunday which shows nice route thru CT from Blouberg over to Hout Bay, Chapmans Peak and Noordhoek. Weather not so good, but was at least cool. Some RD350`s..GT750`s and Aprilias..among others. Camera bike is an RDLC. Pity the RD500`s didn't come with this time. Hope you enjoy.

Hi guys one more question and hopefully my bike should be up and running, I'm replacing the entire exhaust system on my 125 Virago and need to replace the gaskets, are they all universal size or anyone know a good place to get them quick Cheers

I've got the cylinder if and was very pleased by it's condition, you can still see the factory hone lines, however, one area at the read (intake side) of the cylinder has some very lite score lines, you can't feel them when you run your nail over them, so as far as I can tell I could get away with a cylinder hone, but I want to be 100% sure so I thought I'd ask others, below are two links to pictures of the cylinder.

Hi, I am sure someone on here will be able to help, I was given a couple of old DT50MX's and between the two bikes I am sure there is a whole bike apart from a few bits, I intend on rebuilding one bike and putting it on the road ready for my nephew to use once he has done his CBT. What is the best way to find out the exact year of the bike? What is the process of getting it registered on the road & and is it difficult? Thanks Pete

  9. Started by Morseman,

I managed to complete my CBT yesterday and the trike passed its MOT today, so it's been a good week even if I did have to drive to Scotland and back for work. I might think about getting a cheap 125 so that I can practice for the full test on L plates, but not sure what to get. Any advice on good learners bikes. Yamaha, of course. ;-)

As I'm sure were all in the process of waking our bikes up from their winter snooze, excepting the hero's that ride all year. (been there fk that). Cleaned the bike, new chain, new oil run her up to operating temp, all good. Then decided on a run out to fill her up with some good fuel. Had an ok trip, did around 8 or 10 miles and the bike felt good. So, open her up for a bit of a blast on some local roundabouts where she goes unhappy. Carb had flooded shutting down one cyl 10 miles from home. I'm considering calling the man with a van when inspiration strikes, 99% of the way home is country road, soooooo, while the engine was still hot I pushed it back to…

I've spend the last 3 hours trying to get the engine out of the bike, every single fucking bolt holding the bike in is totally stuck in the bike, WD40, physical violence, high heat and a lot of time didn't get them out. As far as I can tell this engine is stuck solid in the frame. Any tips?

Hello dear members, I'm busy with the restoration of a Yamaha YA6 125cc 2 stroke autolube from '64. After changing some bearing, o-rings, gaskets and seals the engine is almost done now. Only thing left to do is putting new transmission oil in and start her up. The problem is, I can't find the right amount of oil and wich is best to use. Greetings, Lars

Hi, I'm a new rider and currently taking my A2 licence lessons, I'm 57 years old and like cruisers and understand I will be able to ride the dragstar 650 or 400 which I like both. My worry is if I go for the 400 how will I be fixed for things like spare parts and extras for example a back rest as the rear mudguard is different with indicators on it. Would I be safer with the 650 as the 400's are all imports from Japan an may be harder to maintain, forgive me if these questions are a little naïve but this will be my first bike for 40 years and I really don't want to get my leg in cash wise on something unsuitable. Any advice will be gratefully re…

  17. Right, I /NEED/ a new barrel and piston, as in I can't get to college without my bike. A new barrel and piston from Yamaha (sit down for this big fucking surprise) is gonna cost well over £300, obviously I can't afford this. There are other, aftermarket barrels available on eBay, generally range from £38 to £50. What do you think of them? Obviously they're shitty Chinese rubbish, but how bad do you think they really are? Keep in mind that without the bike I'm basically stranded on top of a tiny village in the middle of bum-fuck-nowhere in north Wales. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cylinder-Barrel-Piston-Kit-For-YAMAHA-YBR125-YBR-125-Cylindre-/321946041092?hash=…
