Hi all I'm new to biking and need to buy all the gear. First on the list is a helmet. I'm leaning towards an open-face one as it seems to be the best compromise in terms of protection and look for my XVS125. Unless you know of a full-face that wouldn't look out of place while riding this bike I'd appreciate if you could recommend one with good side protection, that looks cool and doesn't break the bank. Thanks in advance.

here! This is my first post, So sorry if its in the wrong place or anything (If so, Mod please move) I bought my 2005 YZF-R6 Last year, And it did not come with a front fender... Now that I have bought many fenders in hopes of installing one I believe I have the wrong front forks. based on pictures I've seen on google and parts websites it looks way different than any I have seen. Any help would be awesome if someone thinks they recognize these things. Thanks! ~ Dillon

First post, first motorbike. Having ridden peds for about 8 years, I decided to up my game in preparation for doing my full test in a year or two. I bought a good condition yamaha rsx100 which a friend of mine who knows more about mechanics than me checked over. It seems to be in great condition, both mechanically and body wise. However, the one issue it did have was the kickstart lever. The ring of the lever has worn down and thus needs replacing. Being a complete noob. I bought a kickstart lever for an rxs100, believing the parts to be interchangeable. I appear to be wrong. The lever arrived, different shape, and the connector ring is too large to fit the…

Hi guys, I seem to have a clunking sound coming from some where around the engine area. I think it's coming from where the chain goes into the engine but I'm not sure. Its asif I had some thing stuck in my chain and ever time it goes round it makes a clunk and it's more at low speeds. It sounds more of a mechanical clunking to. I've checked the chain see if there is out in it and there isn't I've checked it if it's lose and it's fine. So I was woundering if any1 could shed any light on this worrying anoying sound. Hopefully ya sort of get what I mean haha.

Hi all While walking to the DVLA this afternoon, to apply for a British driver's license, I caught myself regularly doing "lifesavers" to see if I could "safely overtake" another pedestrian. I think it's something I've always been doing naturally but only made the bike connection today. Is it something you've noticed yourself doing too?

Had to go down to our cottage near Annan today so what better excuse to take the bike. Fuelled up just outside Gorebridge and took the A7,(a bit crap with slow movers but was in no hurry) down to Longtown, across via Gretna to Eastriggs. Back up the M74 (chance to collect some flies) then over the A702 to Edinburgh & east lothian. Feckin Awesome day out. Now, I know the Divvy isn't everyone's cup of tea but in having no experience of another big bike I can't imagine what else you'd need? 60+ mpg, comfy seat and comfy on the road. I will admit that after an almost solid 200 miles my right knee was getting a bit annoyed, I found myself scooting back up the seat for ex…

Hi, I've put up with it for long enough, but now the "read owners manual" label on my tank is starting to annoy me. I've taken the waterproof layer off the top of it. And I've picked at it with my finger nails but it's bloody stubborn. Has anyone else got any suggestions, I don't want to damage my paintwork trying something stupid Cheers

New to this board (from Florida, USA), not new to motorcycles, but this has me stumped!! Just acquired what is supposed to be a 1982 Maxim 400. I've searched across the 'net and found pics and specs for a 1982 xs400 Maxim and they don't look anything at all like what I have. I found pics of a 1984 Maxim that looks exactly like what I have? The title shows the bike as a 1982. My question is: are there any rescources available that show the interpretation of the VIN number as to year manufactured, model, etc. I also have an xj650 Seca and I have a VIN reference for the XJ bikes. I've checked several Yamaha sites and can't even find "Maxim" listed as a Model. Any h…

Hi just a small quirey, Looking to upgrade from my YBR125, i want i big'ish bike around 600cc and i have seen that honda have released a new modle this month the NC700X, its basicaly got a honda jazz engine cut in half in it and will only rev to 6500rpm at the start of the redline its claimed that its 0-75mph is faster than the cbf600 aswell, the suprising thing is it will do a stagering 78.8 to the gallon (4.55L), just wanting to know if yamaha have anything thats MPG is close to that which isnt a small capacity bike, i would prefere to upgrade to another yam as my YBR is so bloody reliable, and i havnt had much experiance with honda bikes however i am aware that t…

Well i know for a fact the Yamaha XT 200 i just picked up on the weekend only has 8 digits which are 15x - 000388. Not sure what year it is 1982-84? As it sits, it is in pieces but just needs a rebuild so this should be a fun project . If anyone can give me tips or links to certin things i may need to know that would help nicely, I'm 18 and this is my first rebuild. I'm very excited! Cheers!
