My stoopid, son tried climbing on to my bike today whilst it was parked on the drive and as a result I now need a new brake lever (£19 off wemoto) and a new plastic side panel cuz he tipped it over (he's fine other than the thick ear he got when he banged it against the palm of my outstretched hand). Any idea where the best place would be to look for a side panel other than paying yamaha OE prices? Cheers. Si.

With it being mostly dry today, and the sun out a bit, I went cross county on my XVS, she got 70mph! I'm still waiting for the bigger front sprocket to come so she should be able to cater a lovely cruising speed now! She's thirsty mind you, set off with more or less a full tank..... after 35 miles, shes below half..... I like a girl that swallows it anyhoo... Anyone else go out today (wed)? Yorkshire area?

Hi, Ive nearly drained my last tank of 2 stroke oil and i were wandering what is everyone elses first choice in 2 stroke oil ? Im in need of some as soon as possible so if people could give me a few examples of decent oils that will look after the engine and some that are well worth the cost for what you get amount wise that would be amazing, Thanks in advance; Joshua .C.

hey guys i need some opinions on whether this will work or not because i think i might have had a bit of a brainwave!!! my ty (very very very rotten) like most bikes depends on using the frame of the bike for an earth and it is a good way of doing it BUT in my bikes case, the last idiot who owned my bike (whom was VERY good at taking things apart but not so hot at putting back together) left my bikes loom dangling and left the exposed points where the components earthed to rot and and im now getting no end of grounding issues with the bike, with continuity through the frame being a bit of an skill to find on it, now heres my clever idea: bearing in mind my bike on…

Hey guys ive got a 2000 Virgao XV125, all good with it until the other day. Had a ride from Benfleet to Stambridge via Southend (about 25 miles), all was well until I stopped the bike briefly (literally 2 minutes) and when I tried starting it again there was just a electrical cyclical sound coming from what I think it the starter motor! Had to bump start it to get it home. topped up battery with distilled water, cleaned connections to battery and went to charge it but charger read that battery was full but surely it couldnt be? Being a newb to anything bike related I really dont know the next step without taking it a garage which I dont want to do (and currently cant do a…

A forum poster linked this for me ( via Sweden) a write up from Gary Inman bike journalist who writes for Classic bike and owns Sideburn magazine. http://www.influx.co.uk/wordpress/features/we-come-from-garageland/ would have been nice to mention me or the photographer, it looks like it's supposed to be a Deus bike. can't have everything I suppose!

Hi all, have a read at this post please, and chip in with your notion of pro's and con's, its spreading so keep an eye on a forecourt near you, personaly I think it could turn a whisper into a shout, The price of oil is as low as it has been for a while, the oil companies have simply jacked their prices up and the government will not do anything as they rake in extra VAT for every increase. See what you think and pass it on if you agree with it We are hitting 114.9 a litre in some areas now, soon we will be faced with paying 1.50 a ltr. Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea: This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain…

Hi all, Been reading up on clutches and oils, forum after forum people are cursing at doodz for using synthetic oil. I hear screams of slippage and ruined clutches. I have used synthetic/ester based oil now in all the bikes Ive had, all wet clutch and have no problem with synthetic based oil at all. Both road and dirt bikes are absoulutly fine with them. People are under the misconception that its the quality of the oil that creates slippage, they claim, that due to its greater protection qualities, synthetic is too slick for a firm clutch operation.. I do not believe they are right, anyone who has done an ounce of reading on this should have come accr…

Motorcyclists account for 1% of all road traffic in the UK, but shockingly account for 20% of fatalities. What is even scarier is that prospective car drivers can currently pass their test without answering a single motorbike-related question. Bennetts are launching a Government petition to ensure bike-related questions are made compulsory in all UK driving tests. To have this matter raised in the House of Commons 100,000 signatures are required. We need your help. Please sign the petition now: http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/26272 and share this link with your family and friends.

Hi folks! In my last post I mentioned I was looking for a new project. Well, just paid the deposit on my new baby! I've bought a Honda VFR400 NC30. Its got a full Tyga fairing kit, seat unit etc. Been sitting for a while but runs, so hopefully a good service, clean fuel & degunked carbs should sort that. Paintwork isn't to my liking so that'll be getting redone too, but that's the fun of a project - stamping your own personality on it. Can't wait to get it home, probably be the weekend at the earliest but I'm so pleased!
