This is one for the year round folk, i have said before about the suzuki i used to own. Well it dumped its rider on the road over the weekend nobody and nothing else envolved, totally alone on the road, cause? A front brake pad. Yep, thats it. Corrosion had got behind the pad material and then, heat expansion maybe? something caused it to crack. Therafter a chunk came away and locked the front solid. Thankfully at about 15mph. The offending bits came out while stripping the front. This i'm told produced a near vertical, anal clamping stoppie. Dumping my mate (thankfully in full kit) over the bars on the ground doing his ankle, then drops back to earth and poli…

Hello everybody hope you're all good So my cooler pipe is leaking and I have seen some posts saying to cut off the pipes and replace them with hoses and jubilee clips and am hoping to go to my brothers place at the weekend and give it a go (he got the mechanical hands and I only got the good looks you see ) But does anyone know where I can get the hoses, oil filter etc anywhere in central London? Also is chopping the pipes the only way to do it or does anyone have an alternative please? I'd really appreciate any pointers in the right direction Cheers Paul

Hey Guys and Gals, Bit of a weird one but what kind of dog/s do you have (if you own a dog) just that im in the market for one and cant make up my mind which i want to adopt. I wanna get a rescue dog as i want to give one a better life/home than they previously had. The ones i found so far i like are: German shepherd (a big possibility) Collie (not 100% sure yet) Inuit (would love one) Husky (again would love one but very high maintenance) Lurcher (missus hates them) Rotty (missus is scared of them) I want a big dog because over the past few months there has been a spat of burglaries in my area and about 4 nights ago my front door…

Hi Everyone, I'm new here and really writing on behalf of my Dad. My Dad has a pretty mint 1980 250 XT. It runs like a dream and I have ridden it for years myself and my Dad has had it from new apart from when his mate had it for a few years and it came back to him. The only non-original part is the Micron Exhaust he has on it......original gold rims... The works.... It has lived its whole life being kept in the garage so never stored outside. Now my question is to what we do with it. I think my dad has had enough of it and it's time to move on but what is the best place for it to go? What's it worth and is it worth of some showroom or collectors place? …

Hi guys, Just brought my first ever motorbike at a ripe old age of 53, its a 1998 Yamaha 600-s Diversion with a Squire Sidecar unit (Yeah I know but each to there own) Haven't passed a bike test but hoping to complete a DAS asap. Anyway got on the bike this morning just to ride her out round the field as she's been stood for a while, as I was leaving the shed my german shep ran in the way causing me to swerve, subsequently the outer front roll bar frame of the chair hit the steel pylon upright of the shed causing me to be thrown and the bike n sidecar to tip over onto her right side with chair uppermost, smashed spotlight on chair and broken mirrors on bike. Picked th…

Hey, I only have one key for my bike and my key safety is not great, always panicking about loosing it. I guess too be more safe would be the answer, but a 2nd key would be better. Since its not just a door key I assume I cant just go key cutting shop lol So where do I go to get one, and do I take bike documents to prove the bike is mine? Thanks in advance

Hey guys, New here - coming over from ddt, where I've been working on a kz250. Totally new to motorcycles and really enjoying the 'tinkering' though I don't necessarily know what I'm doing. The kz is now looking like it needs an engine rebuild, and with my learner license due to expire in 3 months, I'm keen to get a running bike to learn and do the exam on. I have found a 1979 DT175 for sale. It supposedly runs with some electronic issues (indicators don't work etc) I hoping to get some thoughts of what you guys thinking of such a bike and anything I should be aware of during the inspection? Would anyone have a specs sheet on the bike so I can get a more i…

  16. http://www.positivespin.us/MotorOil.htm Worth a read. Its posted everywhere, but this is just one link. Its scary to think that running a 10w-40 is running a 10 weight oil with a heat thickner added. Synthetics are the other way around. Base oil of 40, that is as thin on start up as the 10 weight based oil. Theres a reason to spend more lol I also learnt that when cold, (W rating) the oil is not thinner than the hot rating, its just less thin that it would be, if it was a single weight oil. All oils are too thick at start up apparently. I believe it, because when cold I put a gloopy substance in, and when hot its like water coming out. That always confu…

Hi all, new to the forums here so I thought I'd introduce myself. I recently bought an XS400 DOHC project on eBay for £100. Complete, but hadn't run for six years so I reckoned it was worth a shot. Having got the beast home, and had a poke around, it wasn't that bad really. It's all there, but the tax disc says 2001 which gives a clue as to when it was last used. The fusebox had some issues: But that was fixed with an MG Midget one from eBay: (I have since fitted the correct fuses) There were barnacles under the filler cap: And as expected, once I got the carbs off I found this inside: Still, nothing that could…
