My dragstar 125, is making a lot of sounds when hot. Im running 10w-40 motul 300v double ester oil, its the correct amount. It pulls fine and runs great, apart from a few noises. First, is the bottom end somewhere, like two logs knocking together, constant in line with rpm, its nearly at 13000 miles, dunno weather its in KM or miles. Obviously that can be heard better at idle. The cam and chains, are ticking like 24 sewing machines all in one. Im scared to death the bottom end bearings/rod bearings are going, or I have piston slap. Around a rounabout I heard something clunk around and then stop, this didnt start the noises, and bike was fine after, ho…

Hi My XVS125 looks the same as it did five mins ago... not right impressed. Think it needs a change, I may remove the sheild where the air filter is, and install a fat cone, or a pancake mesh one. Or... I may leave it there and remove the airbox and put in an offset cone filter, where the box was, directly on the carb. for the smart folk yes I could just leave it... but im not. So, the latter viable option would be a pain in the ass to clean or remove.... however coupled with bigger jets I could be getting a nice top end improvement... the previous, may look out of its style... and it still has the rather diversive rubber intake connected to …

Hi, Looking to replace the piston in my DT175MX when I get the barrel rebored, but a genuine Yamaha piston is £100, with rings being £40. The bloke at Webbs of Eye said that patent pistons have a nasty habit of imploding or shattering after a few miles or so due to the square exhaust ports. Now is this marketing BS or is he talking sense? Because it's a lot of money between the patent part and the original. It's money I can afford but money I also need for other things. Cheers, Harry.

Hey, I just bought my first bike, got it home and it wouldn't start the next day... -Its getting spark... Picked up some ether, removed the air filter and sprayed in- tried kicking it over with filter both out and reinstalled. Only difference is that now when I kick it is that the subtle spark initiated popping sounds (motorcycle sounds) are now accompanied with high pitched chirping sounds- tried bump starting as well- same effect. The only other thing I can imagine it being is a too light or high oil content in my premix? I've tried and tried with this thing and am feeling rather defeated. -I'm so new at this, the sad thing is that it would probably o…

Ey up. Noticed in my area there are a few bikes that are very loud, and wernt to begin with. Also noticed some tourers and chopper/cruser styles after a biker rally that were beyond loud. I think they were straight throughs on high cc bikes. I was just wondering what, if any limit there is to the noise? Not because I dont like it, its because I would like to know incase I, or any of my mates gets pulled for it. Is it a case of coppers like to pick on the locals? Maybe after numerous reports or something.... But those 1900cc monsters that have nothing in the way of our ears and the exhaust valves set off car alarms.. Police dont care lol

Right, lets not beat about the bush, Im a FZS Fazer 600 rider, ive been riding 4 years and today i took mine up to whitby. Comming back i hit a patch off Diesel and next thing i know im on my backside on the road thinking shit this isnt good. I picked myself up and thankfully the man comming the opposite way in the lorry stopped and so did the man in a Shogun so thankyou to them. They helped me pick my bike up move it to the side of the road. Then some dick walks towards me and tells the lorry driver hes going to have to move because hes causing caos (CHEERS MATE). Anyway me then thinking right i have Roadside recovery from AA, and ill not refraim from naming and shaming …

So. I was changing my chain the other day, routine job, as you do. I put the nut back on the ale, and started to tighten it up, as again, you do. Then I started noticing how long I'd been sat here for, tightening away. As it turns out, the previous owner hadn't used a high-tensile nut on the axle, meaning I've completely threaded the nut. It's now SMOOTH inside. So, my steadily-more-urgent problem now, is WHERE DO I FIND ONE QUICK?! It's an M18 x 1.5 nut.

Hi, I have a '99 Yam XJ600N twin disc model. Having a rattle which sounded like a loose brake pad coming from the front caliper i took it off to find that an anti-rattle shim is missing. Brakes still function fine but it needs sorting out. Having looked round the web i can't find anyone selling them. Is it worth contacting a dealer? (dont want to pay through the nose though). Help please. Matt

Hi, Just thought I'd mention this as its slightly different to all the other dragstars I've read about. I have drilled holes in the intake letting air float in there more easily, but its kept its standard air filter, as I dont think its that restrictive without the narrow rubber in there and in being drilled at the back of the sheild. The exhausts are circle cut out at the back, and I'm running the needle higher by one notch, and the main jet is a #101 size. The highest I've seen, is a 100 jet, and AFAIK, no one has touched the needle. Is this ok, for what mods I've done because the plugs are fine, no coking or soot. I'm guessing, it should be still fine…

Hi guys/gals.... I know I'm new to this forum but since it's an owners club thought it would be best to ask on here for some advice. Anyway: I have a Yamaha XJ600 Diversion N - on a 1999 (T Plate) which the previous owner has put chopper style bars on it so they are higher up, my insurance company won't insure me with these bars so I have to change them back to the original ones (which I already have) but my question is this..... If I change the bars back & keep existing hoses (Brakes, Clutch & So on) they will be a bit longer than needed....will this cause any issues or is it only a problem if they are too short? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Firsty, Hi all; Jak from Hertfordshire, UK - currently on L-plates, hopefully tearing 'em up in May. Now, a few questions pertaining to minor modifications to my 2009 YBR 125. I've put Metzeler tyres on it, but I need to up the power of the dipped beam headlight bulb to something that actually lets me see further than 3 feet on unlit country roads. Anyone recommend any good bulbs/good wattages to look out for? thirdly, I want to change out the handgrips and put on Bar-ends, but I've no idea what size grip or what kind of Bar-end will fit, everywhere I look has different information; and I can't find it anywhere in the manual. Any suggestions on what to look out for …
