the lights on my xvs arent standard an to be honest i dont like them i plan to fit a rear led light an a old headlight from a honda melody ( onece a have smoothed the casing) the bulb in the headlight is 6 volt is it possible to swap the bulb for a 12 v or maybe fit a hid headlight ( i am told they use less current but are poor through clear lenses

Hi all... I'm new to the owners club... I actually ride a Yamaha XJ700 based trike, but I'm about to fit a Dragstar XVS 650 petrol tank..the problem is that I have no petrol cap... does anyone know tha correct part number, or, even better, does anyone know of an alternative cap that may fit... the XVS caps rarely come up on Ebay, and I just don't know what else might fit! Thanks in advance for the help Sam

Hello all, again looking for some advice.... I'm planning to shorten the rear fender of my dragstar. Is there a good way to cut it, without having to repaint? Or maybe a nice way of finishing? Hi friends... My Virago bought recently having some issues and there are some switches I need to know about. This is a 2004 model so I think it should be of XVS breed.. 01. I have noticed lot of engine oil around the engine..it's all over belly of the engine, two heads (pins) and oil level seem to reduce heavily...is this a problem with sealants? Do I have to consider opening engine and place some new sealents to avoid this? Right after I got home today I noticed a considerable oil splash apparently seeped from rear head....which frightened me..must add some oil fast.. 02. Earlier owners seem to have welded silencers underside..corrosions on silencers …

Hi Guys and gals, I've done about 5500 miles on my XVS950 now, and need some new rubber. I was expecting a bit more from the bridgestones, especially the front one! Front tyre is duel compound and has worn a lot more on the soft sides than the harder centre. I'm really starting to feel it and am loosing faith in it's grip. Nevermind I figured, time to stump up and get some new tires - think I'll try the dunlops instead... Spoke to my local dealer earlier and have been quoted £250 for a pair of Bridgestones and £270 for the Dunlops!!! The guy also said that bridgestone and dunlop don't have these tyres in stock!?! so could be 3 or 4 weeks! I'm a bit…

At first I though it was from some kind of exhaust leak but now it seems like it comes from the rear right hand side of the engine. The noise only comes on when the engine runs hot. It is difficult to describe the noise. The only think that comes to mind (I know it sounds stupid) is that it sounds like a canary whistle in a intermittent kind of way. How I can post a pic and pin point the part of the engine?

hi all iv searched google till iv got a headache and i cant find a good source for wiring diagrams anywhere! just wondered if anyone could point me to a good site? iv got to splice some honda cbr 125r (2004) parts/loom to a xvs 125 (2004) loom for my project but cant find any diagrams anywhere! (im putting that engine into the drag frame but need to sort out the loom so it works) any help would be appreciated cheers . Paul .

Hi Brand new member of the forum, brand new biker and brand new owner of a baby drag - xvs 125. She has some minor surface rust on some of the chrome parts and some of the chrome plastic parts have bubbled up, particularly the chain cover. I would like to give her a little beauty treatment but was hoping you could give me a recommendation on a good surface rust remover, chrome polish and if there is any way to get rid of those horrid bubbles (if there is a way). I am sure I will be asking more questions in the days to come as she is coming home only on Saturday, so closer inspection is bound to reveal some other issues. A complete beginner here. Th…

afternoon all, bit of a weird one... are the only differences between the classic and custom dragstar the fenders / mudguards / whatever we call them? and apparently there is a difference in the seating height, but is this just a saddle difference? the reason i ask is that i'm looking at upgrading my 650 custom to an 1100, there are two available at the moment one is a classic but i think a better price, the other is a custom. i plan to do a lot to the bike anyway but i wondered if i can buy the classic and put the front and rear fenders from the custom on there? thanks in advance dan

Hi all, i'm a complete noob to biking so forgive me if this sounds dumb. I recently bought a yamaha dragstar 125 and (rather stupidly) managed to loose the only key i had. Unfortunately i do not have the key number so cannot just order a new one. I spoke to a locksmith who said he could make me a new one for £25 if i brought him the ignition barrel. the question is, how do i remove the ignition barrel? there seems to be some sort of plastic panel which the barrel pokes out of, i can't for the life of me work out how to get this panel off and i'd really rather not have to cut it off. thanks, Alex
