Hi all Need a bit of advice please as thinking about buying a virago 125 to start biking. I am looking at one at the mo that is a 2003 but I noticed the Speedo is in KMH not MPH does this mean its an import? Also if it is an import do you know if its a problem. Anything I need to look out for in the way of common problems etc?

Hello everyone, I apoligize if I posted this in the wrong section but I just finished my 1981 yamaha xs400 and it won't start. It ran before I tore it down from stock. I'm getting fire, getting fuel, guess ill try to do a compression test today but it should be ok. I have pulled the plugs, cleaned, regapped. Tried full choke, half, and none. I'm not having any luck. Any tips or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

Anybody know if you can get different passenger seats to fit a xvs 1300?

Hi Paul back from hols and minor heart op, so apart from stll needing to re-build house I need to sort the Virago, any idea where to get piston rings, have tried a few places with not much luck, have sent a couple more emails today, see what replies I get Monday. Anyone contemplated fitting them to a draggy? I would like to, just seems complicated a little getting all the cables a little longer???

My V Star 650 Classic has been running fine all summer. I just went to start it up to ride home and it acted normally, headlight came on, the ticking sound from under the tank, the starter cranked, the motor started to start, but then, it just died - now, there's no electrics at all. Nothing comes on when we turn the switch, no sounds, no headlight, nothing. We've looked at all the fuses in the little fuse box, plus the two 30 amp fuses that are below and to the right of the little fuse box and they all seem fine. The battery reads 12.5 volts. We loosened up the battery connections and re-tightened them. Still, the bike is completely dead. Are there more fuses we shou…

Hello New here (bit of a bike newbie also) just bought a Sachs Roadster 125. Seeign as there is no other forum I have seen coming close to these bikes, I thought I'de join this one as a few other people seem to own the same bike! I was leaning the bike while stationery a bit further than you would normally and petrol dripped out of my carb from the point in the picture: Probably nothing to worry about but just thought I'de check! This on the left side of the bike. Also - whoever is reading this who has got the Roadster 125, have you tried removing this fuel filter, valve thingy majiggy if so did you notice a difference and where did you find it…

Okay so as some of the regulars will know I've been looking forward to some exhausts for me xvs 125 draggy-boy. Firstly - does anyone have any cool (AND CHEAP!!!) ideas as to what to do. Secondly - if I bought some custom slash-cuts or something (just then end cans) off ebay would I need to re-jet and, if so, how hard is that? Chris EDIT i KNOW it's a 125, and it will never sound like a HD Fatboy. Please, no rants about trying to make my motorbike sound big when it's not. I just hate the look of the stock mufflers.

Hi, does anyone know if there is a UK based supplier of Blue collar bobber kits for the XVS. I'm a bit reluctant to order from the states as you can never quite figure out how much stuff is going to cost, Ie how much duty is goin to be added and then how much the shipping company will add in admin charges for paying it for you.

Has any one slashcut the stock xvs 650 custom pipes? Id like to make 2 cuts one to chop the cone off and a second horizontal cut for the slash. Id like some advive on what angle to make the horizonatal cut and what length. cheers

Hello fellow yamaha owners. I am in the hunt for a set of solid wheels that will fit my bike. I have an '05 xvs 1100 midnight custom. The rear wheel is 15 inches, and the front 18. I have been looking on the web for quite some time now and cannot find an answer for my model.. It's getting frustrating. I am tired of cleaning between the spokes. I am tired of replacing tires every 5-6000 miles. Yesterday I converted over to the darkside. The tire was a real bear to put on the stock rim. But got it beaded up after some fiddling and nail biting tire inflation. Took it on a spin for a couple hours and no problems.. Today when I woke up the tire was flat…

Hi I have recently installed a relay for my sat nav and starcom1 unit, I had to disconnect the battery for a few seconds just to sort out power to the relay. The question I have is regarding immobiliser light, I’m sure when I had the bike it flashed yellow and now its flashes red. Should it be yellow? If so any ideas on how to re set the immobiliser? Bolted on the slash cut H/H pipes today. I got them on gumtree for £60,bargin.The only problem i have is they are way too loud.I was quite embaressed going through towns , i love the tone but the volume is exessive.Anyone know the correct and effective baffel to tone it down a bit? cheers.

ola yamaheads hope all is well, ok so heres where things are,iv'e fitted the straight through highwayhawk pipes,iv'e ordered the 18 tooth front sproket,ive ordered a set of iridium plugs(just for good measure).Now i'm wondering wether or not to up the jet to 100.I'm really not into changing air filters as has mixed results.Have been following a few threads regarding this mod but no conclusion.If anyone can help me out i'd be chuft.cheers.

Any 6 footers ride a XV 533? I am worried i am a bit tall for one. I aint sat on one yet and am contemplating buyin my mates dads. (yes i could ask him if i can sit on it but he is not taxing it this year and he is storing it in his garage) dont want to be a pain as i will need to organise to get it out of storage for a test ride when i pass my das. bla bla bla. like i say just curious.

Hi I have a '97 535s (17,000 miles) that is running like a pig just now. Seems very rattly - I've checked the tappets and they are within tolerances. But it is the general running that is the problem. Now, I've looked at the diaphragms and they are not at all perished/holed etc. HOWEVER - are the diaphragm rubbers supposed to be bonded to the slides? Mine are not and could easily be removed - a sort of push fit.... Is this my problem? Thank you for any assistance you can give. Steve

hi everyone, a few weeks ago i became the owner of a yam xs 750 special,i got it as a second bike and as my other bikes a sports bike i wanted to try something completely different so went for a cruiser,its a 1978 so i have the intention of making it look a little more pretty than it did when i picked it up,ive resprayed the frame, polished up the engine and look to replace some chrome parts ect,my question is does anyone know if these 750 specials share the same engines as the uk spec xs 750?,i'll be looking to buy filters,fork seals ect and am wondering where to buy spares. any help appreciated,ta

Hi there After 20 non biking years I just bought a used XV 535. When i first tested the bike it had a pair of slashed open pipes fited on, and I noticed that the rear drum brake area was a bit black, obviously due to rich mixture running. The engine was running ok though when took it for a ride. It was very noisy, so I asked the dealer to fit a set of new mufflers, regular ones to reduse the noise, so he did. After that, the engine misfires badly. Looks like it is running on a single cylinder, the back one, and it won't rev up no matter if I open the throttle full open. This happens when riding. I changed the spark plugs but did not help at all. The old spark plugs came…
