Hi everyone, my 93 xv535 isn't running well at low revs, still didn't manage to get my carbs cleaned and I run out of fuel last week ( bet that didn't help the carbs) since I run out of fuel isn't running that well at low revs, I'm gessing that rubbish from the fuel thank got into the carbs? I was told as well when I got my carbs balanced that it was running a bit rich and when I would get carbs clean I would have to drop something on mycarbs one notch?????? And that should make it run better??? There's a bit of black smoke coming from the exhaust that the mechanic told me was because of it being run rich?? Can I have some advice from someone that knows something about b…

And now I want this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Brand-New-UNIVERSAL-HIGH-POWER-CONE-AIR-FILTER-RED-/350385379190?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5194989776 Could I fit an air filter like that onto my draggy in any way? Would I need re-jetting? Chris

Hi, I'm new to the site, just bought my L reg 93 Yamaha XV535 and to be honest haven't been very lucky with it... first day lost my keys because ignition barrel is worn , so had to get a key made that after a week didn't fit my petrol cap or seat( so had to send it back to get it done again!!!), because of it run out of fuel (I think) and had to push it home about 5 miles!!! that's after I picked the bike from the garage because the diaframe on the carbs collapsed and lost power so felt like I was riding a 125cc bike... battery's gone flat but couldn't get it on charge because couldn't get the seat out! have the bike for about 3 weeks and only able to ride it twice 3rd ti…

  9. I just can't do it. I've been in two different petrol stations, BP and Shell and can't get the air line at the right angle. I tried every possible position but the spokes are in the way or the mud guard is in the way. Is there some kind of adaptor missing in my tool kit? Help would be much appreciated Thanks

hi all, first of all i would like to say hello and congrats on a great site. i am sorry that in my first post i need some help. i have a 1992 535 that i bought about a month ago,it has only done 8000 miles, but when i leave it standing for a day or two and then go to start it,it usually only fires up on one cylinder either front or back, runs on that cylinder for a few secs then stops. the plugs and battery are new and when it runs properly it will run all day without missing a beat. what i have narrowed it down to is that when i turn the ignition on i could only hear the pump tick once then stop, so i removed the carb float sides and the carbs are empty and the float…

  11. Any help appriecated. My 2000 XVS125 dragstar has just past the 10,000 mile marker and has developed a noise. The noise is pretty difficult to explain in words, but here goes...... It sounds like a high pitched Grrrrrrr almost like a chain hoist being pulled quickly, and rises and falls with the engine speed. Not so noticable when stood still, but on the road above say 30mph it builds to a disconcerting point, however it is dramatically reduced, to a stop when the clutch is pulled in. My thoughts are that the tappets (valve clearances) need adjustment, but hey what do I know! What are your thoughts? The bike has been regulary serviced by a Yamaha main dealer throughout…

I have been searching the internet for a supplier of chrome rear crash bars for a Midnight Star 1300 (XVS1300), so far with no luck. Does anyone on the forum know of any manufacturers or suppliers of this item, preferably in the UK.

So I've just come back from a short break away without the bike to find that it won't start and none of the service lights come on when turning the key in the ignition. I also noticed that I'd left the sidelights on for all the time that I was away so I'm pretty sure I've drained all life out of the battery. My question is has anybody had any experience jump starting a dead dragstar? I had a quick look in the manual and it said not to attempt it and to take the bike to a dealer but I'm damned if I'll do that if i can just hook up some jump leads or roll it down a hill in gear. Any advice either way is most welcome. Cheers!

Am stuck in Germany with my bike. Was motoring comfortably at 50mph when I lost power and almost stalled. I obviously pulled over and it kept running BUT with quite a loud rattle/knock coming in at a faster engine revs. I first thought it was a big end, but later presuumed was a sticking valve. It's quiet at 20 then it kicks in. Got the rear head off so far as I believed it to be from there. Question should both timing marks on each cylinder be at top at the same time or should they be opposite for each cylinder. I am sure I can work it out in time, but am still wotking on it outside a friends flat. So far no obvious damage to rear cylinder cam shaft or valves a…

Hi all! At a certain revs I hear a rattling noise coming up from the engine. The noise is something like a steel ball from ball bearing put into a can and shaked in a circular movement. Just below 60 km/h (40 miles/hour) it is quite audiable and disturbing. Otherwise the bike is in a very good shape. Anybody came accross with this? Thank you Regards
