I've had my 950A since March 09, I ride all year round and have clocked up about 22000 with only one problem. The lights went on the bike and it turned out to be a corroded wiring loom which had been sat in a pool of salty water. Yamaha replaced it with no problem but stated they had never come across this before. Seems to me a design flaw if water has no where to run. Anybody had this problem and found a work round solution. If it's happened once it will happen again especialy in winter when the hose pipe is always out.

I was thinking of buying a Highway Hawk chrome licence plate trim, size 195x145mm for my XVS 1300. Because of the smaller size I think it would look better than the standard number plate. The only concern I have is that the local Constabulary might take exception to the smaller plate, letters and numerals. has anyone else got this size plate and have they had any problems.

Hey just though i'd start by introducing myself. Im phil and have just brought myself a black dragstar 125 Shame about the weather so maybe a while before i get to take it out propperly. Did managed some miles on it yesterday and love it. the only thing that lets it down is the L plates lol I do have a couple of questions, Does the speedometer light up at night, and if so how easy is it to replace the bulb. Also to adjust the gear pedal do i need to remove the ball joints? and which is the best way about this? I've been driving for 6 years so have good knowlage of how cars work, but bikes are completely new and alien to me. Ill upload a couple of pics when…

Hi there, It's heavy rain season here...roads get flooded easily..I was on my way home the other day when I was caught up in a heavy rain..I didnt want to wait till rain cease so rode in rain..roads were flooded and I noticed heavy knocks in the engine...like I was on a single piston, one wasnt working for some reason, bike wouldnt move fast in high gears so mostly I had to ride in first or second..bike was slowing remarkably and sometimes I had to open throttle to the max but still bike was slowing...but at that point once I shift gears to first or second the bike would accelerate... Muffler seemed to have water inside and vaporized water created some smoke... S…

right there has been a few posts lately askin what gains ppl would expect from changing sprocket sizes so im going to show you how to roughly work it out. (and it is only theoretical estimated top speed) count the number of teeth on each sprocket, so for an example the rear sprocket is 59 teeth and the front sprocket is 16 teeth (original sizes on a xvs 125) divide 59 by 16 = 3.6875 (round it up to 3.69) 3.69 is the number of times the front sprocket turns to 1 turn of the rear sprocket (called a ratio). now work out what ratio you would get by changing the sprocket size. so say i want 2 extra teeth on the front. 59/18 = 3.2777777777777778 (round…

good morning/evening! just a little help please cause im stumped right iv managed to get the cbr 125 engine into the xvs bobber frame, but iv come across a problem that i need a little help with. the air box is really bulky and has one of them flat square air filters inside, and it just doesnt go with the theme of the bike, plus it wont fit without some Major modification! now iv experimented in the past with removing the air box on a xv 125 and putting a cone air filter on the carb instead, needles to say it didnt work and i found the only way to make it work was to attach the air filter to the air box as the bike wouldnt run without it. now i was…

Hi guys, Rear sprocket of the bike had some slight forward-backward rotation which I didnt pay much attention, but now the movement distance has increased lets say twice the earlier distance..I asked from a mechanic and he said its the rubber dampers..but we didnt disassemble it to see.. I checked on the net to find dampers but couldnt find any vendor. Am referring to what the image below depicts; Uploaded with ImageShack.us As I ride I feel some creeky noise from the rear axle..its not very loud...break working fine, as I move the bike neutral engine off the wheel causes a slight vibration on the frame which is prominent if you hold on the sissy a…

Hi, recent new biker and very happy owner of v star 250 (got to start somewhere). Two questions: 1) What is the service interval? Have looked in pdf of manual and can't find this? 2) Was stuck in traffic on a very hot day for ages recently, could tell bike was much hotter than usual, started not being able to get neutral, just more clunkily and with more effort than usual going straight to second. Also stalled out idling in first. Have read elsewhere that others have experienced this, is there anything I should do (apart from manning up and riding the bike like a bike and keeping moving...)? Cheers.

Hi Guys, I got bike checked for the front forks the other day and the mechanic said I will have to replace the CUP SET...that is what they call it in bikes may be the term is wrong..is it the bearing set I dont know..they just use wrong English terms mostly so my not know the technical term. Like I said earlier here there's a Taka Taka hit on the handle when you are on the bumps of the road..perfect on leveled roads. I made the bike upright and held the wheel hard to see if it moves front-backward from steering head...yes there's a very small movement. Mechanic tightened the bolts in steering head but said soon I will have to replace this CUP Set..at this point I wi…

hi peeps well iv gone and ordered the wrong size chain for the xvs bobber so was wondering if anyone would like to swap? im in need of a new 428 pitch heavy duty 150 link chain and want to do a straight swap with the new dc 428 hd 146 link iv got for the xvs dragstar, plus im throwing in a new 16 tooth front sprocket. i got the whole kit off wemoto and was hoping the chain would fit, unfortunately its about 4-5 links too short. i know that some people can get chains for about 20 quid so im willing to do a straight swap if anyones interested?

Hi guys, Early owner of my bike seems to have ridden this XV 125 with a bad bent rear sockets for a very long time. As a result the left side arm of the rear swing arm has bent upwards a little...front tire wearing out at left, not at middle.. Rear wheel too having some slanted look from behind...when I ride it even I feel like front portion kinda slanted...I put new sockets at the back and they dont seem to have weight distribution along the vertical axis of the socket..seems like sockets having some horizontal force working at their middle...like the socket is going to bend at the middle.. I wanna get my swing arm aligned..I expect perfection and perfect ba…
