  1. Hi there, I'm completely new to the forum so HI! I'm also completely new to motorcycles, so hi again! It's also my first ever vehicle, which I'm really excited about. Anyway I'll stop rambling and explain. Yesterday I bought a Yamaha XVS125 Dragstar (2002) from ebay. I got it at around £1,000 in the end - which I didn't think was too bad. When looking at it though, he did detail some minor problems which I "could resolve with ease" - probably - if I knew a little bit about Yamaha's, let alone bikes!     Hi all, I noticed a rattle and the heat shield turned out to be loose dude to a broken/worn through bracket/hose clip. I clean it up and found a hole about 2mm under where the clip was. I have a welder and was going to try to fill/cover the hole. Does anyone know a good fabricator that has mode custom pipes for Dragstars? Cheers

    Hi Guys, My chain is utterly knackered and cant tighten it any further! Could someone give me some guidance (or point to a resource) on how to go about changing it and how much should I expect to pay for a new chain? Thanks! Edit: 2004 model

  5. Hi all, Just got myself a Dragstar XVS 125. Got my CBT about two weeks ago and have been very pleased with the experiance so far! I have been encountering a problem in certain situations which has caused me to pull over to the side multiple of times. The problem is when I am cruising at a decent speed on a flat road and need to drop down to make it up a steep incline; I do not come to a complete stop but am instead rolling along at a crawling speed - I try to drop into first but it just refuses (even with a heavy foot!) when it then comes to riding up the approaching incline it just doesnt have enough power and often comes to a complete stall.     Hi I am serching some exhaust pipes for a freind who has a XVS1300A Midnight Star,when seraching thru Vance and Hines and Cobra etc they all give as available exhaust for the XVS 1300 V Star.Are these models the same and would fittment of exhust be Ok if ordering for a V Star to mount on this Midnight Star. Any help would be appreciated.

    Ok so i have this 81 yamaha xj550 chopper i've been working on for a year now. It has short pipes and air pods on it. Also a dyno jet kit. The bike will start rite up and run good but not hold an idle. It also only runs good when the idle screw is turned out all the way. If you turn it in the idle goes high and says high when you give it gas. I've cleaned the carbs and still the same problem. Any help and ideas?

    97 650 dragstar has been off road for 2 years. kept in garage started and seems to run ok on choke but when warm and choke off will only rev slightly and then cuts out.will restart ok but then does same

    hi, after a jaunt around leicestershire with "her indoors" on the back last night (we got four seasons in 4 hours !) i got home to find stones had hit the bottom of my radiator, and were trapped behind the guard, ive noticed in the past mud has sprayed up onto the rad and always thought the radiator could be vulnerable to a stone etc. Prevention is always better than cure in my book....and i plan to do something about it, buti cannot find a fender extender for this bike ?and before i have a go at making a "mudflap" for the front mudguard, has anyone else done this ?, or found a fender extender anywhere for this bike ?...i would appreciate any comments.

    hi dus anyone know how to get a modified bike back on the road? im replacing the engine, makin some new fenders, and lowering it. but need to know what i have to do to make it legal to drive on the road. do i need to send it of to get checked over? or can i get me local garage to do it? this would be the 1st time iv built a road bike and just need some advice. cheers .Paul.

    Hi . This probably dead simple to someone, but how do i get the pads out of the front brake caliper ? Do the pistons have to be pushed right back, and if so how. I cannot budge them and have tried using the bleed valve ? (as per the workshop manual !)
